Let’s add a step 7: Don’t bother writing a script. Go in with the idea, and be prepared change everything as production goes. God I LOVE Wong Kar Wai films!
OMG what a hidden gem! I was searching for 2046 and end up in this fun channel (sorry, cant find any other adjective other than fun) Congrats from Brazil
omg hii just found this video and your channel!! really enjoyed listening to your essay and I love your humor! Gonna definitely check out some of your short films, I hope youre also gonna make more essays!
Just found you. Shocked u have so few likes when u got that amazing editing skills and hooking humour. As someone who isn’t familiar with Hong Kong films but have a nostalgia for the concept cuz it was popular in Korea in my parents’ time, I would’ve loved a section in the video quietly watching relevant clips of those films for a few minutes, getting to get a better feel of it. But I understand yt copyright issues can be a hassle.
bruh you're jokes, keep going you're tightening up your comic timing and maybe take us out of your bedroom in a way that helps you emphasis and create metaphors for the things you're talking about hehe love how your embodying the wong kar wai obsessive fan so many filmmakers go through -
@kyron.did.it. filmed this in Hong Kong so I have no other room to go to 💀 thank you tho!! And don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan but WKW is known by everyone and their grandmas here lol he's been a staple of our culture for ages. i guess the whole video wanted to show a perspective more familiar and contextual to WKW, as it's interesting seeing how the rest of the film world perceives him 👍😌👍
@@sal_alembroke you did a great job! yeah that's an interesting perspective I guess in the West we're seeing these stylish visuals and techniques but in some of the interviews I've seen with WKW it's literally him talking about making choices out of necessity when shooting with little budget n time etc.
@kyron.did.it. ooh yeah, reminds me how film noir styles developed too! and I think WKW's intricate style under the constraints he had really exemplifies living in HK. often i forget how different other cities look like, as HK has such a distinct urban crowdedness but he uses it so aptly
@@sal_alembroke i've never been to HK so I almost wonder what a crowdedness would be like now, what the political n cultural sentiments would be like now in contrast. Im always fascinated by artist to attempt to capture the zeitgeist and help us see ourselves
Fun video. I met and interviewed Christopher Doyle when I was covering film festivals as a journalist and film critic. He was easily the most entertaining and funniest DP I ever met. As for the title of the video, Im fine with now writing about film again on Substack. No offense.
I WANT TO WATCH MY FAVORITE HK MOVIE ROUGE WITH YOU. A 1988 MASTERPIECE BY STANLEY KWAN ABOUT DEEP LOVE AND LOSING IT. FROM ROBERT CONNECTICUT USA. I LIVED IN WAN CHAI AT ONE TIME.

nice
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
wkw is severely overrated but your video is nicely done!
imo his cinematography can be sometimes but many ppl miss the hk contextual and personal side of it, which better explains his style :)
Wtf ur funny
are you also being this funny while you speaking canto
I'd like to say even funnier but mostly bc canto is just a funnier language. maybe i should add obligatory canto segments to videos
hahaha
