Great to hear about plans to test on a panel that's not buffed to perfection to better see what the product can add more than what gloss it can lose. Great honest and open review, very informative as 7sual. Thanks Jon.

My delivery from BH turned up today so I currently have an anti rust bath, with two claipers and carriers bubbling away on my kitchen table. I love BH products and these new ones I haven't tried before are just as good. This wax is great too, bought on Jon's recommendation a while back. So much great knowledge shared here, thank you.
I also like the idea of this new product too. I'd have the most hydrphobic arm pits in the Midlands.

very clever formulation from geon, usually the more hydrophobic products they put in the wax, the harder they are to use in my experience. UHD is a classic and their R&D is evident.

    Another well structured review Jon.
I've been recently long term testing the TW Graphene Wax and after its initial "boost" for chemical resistance on my test panel, on a real car its failing miserably after only a couple of months.
It's now cementing my belief that we should be (and I know it's not always possible) testing out products longer term.
On the Gyeon, I'm actually liking the presentation of it, very different, kinda reminds me of when Soft99 Glaco came out.

defo there is a big difference with chem testing and real life. more to come on all these products comparing them in different ways. durability is a big thing for lots of people... but others like its about the buff or some its just about price...

It’s also about how responsive their reply is to people like me and I guess to professional detailers/companies when they want to know something that they may have come across that their not sure of. Another great comparison thanks Jon. I too like experimenting with different products. I use double speed AG UHD but I also have several Meguiars
    It’s interesting comparing them all
An interesting video which I would like to see you do would be a similar video on the three paste waxes from meguairs
Ultimate vs Gold vs NXT vs Mirror bright
I think there’s only one decent video where they compare some of these. There are others but they don’t do anything like as good a good a job as you. They throw it on, spray some water and pick a winner. I always think it’s great when you do something on the high street brands
Ive had a play with all of these and the differences are interesting. In particular I found the mirror bright really dusts up (not good) may have been my application but I honestly don’t think so
You could use double speed as a control 😀
I also agree with your view on ceramic. I have thought about it. But I enjoy washing my car. Trying different products including waxes. Applying a long-standing ceramic would likely be a waste for me. Great products, just not for me

its good stuff isnt it but its kind of a different genre, detail spray/spray wax perhaps its more of a topper but yer shinee wax if you use it every wash will also give you some protection. This is the beuty of all this, you can take a very very simplw approach if you want or you can literally have like 13 layers of protection. I think 13 was the amount of potential layers you "could" have on your car with a genuine brands system :)

I’ve gone round in circles on coatings. Spend 2 days doing a ceramic properly. 2 hard days too. More days if you need it to cure and keep out the rain. If you have only one car there’s a lot of downtime with that method. If you don’t have cover it’s much harder. Or you go hybrid. Use CP lite as your base then wax a few times a year. Much easier to put on, if you mess it up you don’t risk much and can take an afternoon not days. Do half a car one week half the next. It’s not all critical. If you need to add wax you do. You don’t need to machine buff with precision. And go through the whole process.
I think going ceramic hard core makes it a a science step. I find myself bot enjoying the process. Where a good wax or temp coating lets you enjoy the process and take your time without pressure.

so with a paste wax you wash the car with pre wash and pure shampoos. decon/clay if required (if contamination is present). machine polish the paintwork if its swirly or dull. then do like a panel wipedown to degrease the paintwork. And apply a wax or sealant etc.... then in a months time if you want to boost hydrophobic and add protection you can wash and top up with polar seal for example. polar seal is more like a booster top up than a base line protection product if you get me.

This week a bird dropping ruined my BMW black paint on a door. It was in the car for no more than 8 hours, but it made a hole through the clear coat into the paint! The door had a 2 weeks old layer of Meguiars hybrid ceramic wax and a 3 days old layer of ADBL synthetic spray wax on it. Unfortunately, they didn't protect the paint at all, so now I had to switch to a ceramic coating :(. Bird droppings have a PH of 3~4.5 and Cquartz has a PH resistancy of 3~13, so I hope next time this won't happen! I was in shock. I was an adept of paint sealants/waxes in spray or paste, but unfortunately, I now had to switch to ceramics that are way more time-consuming and expensive.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  3 роки тому +5

if that bird dropping sat there and ate through to the paintwork it will go through that coating rapidly as well. theres real advantages to coatings dont get me wrong but generally they are not for me on my main car. and my family car gets smashed up so its pointless "protecting" the paint. bird crap is the least of my worries with the way my missed drives into things.

One place wax is better than ceramic coatings is wax doesn't need to cure for 24hrs. As a mobile valeter in the UK where 99% of customers don't keep their car in a garage so you can't guarantee a car is going to stay dry, let alone bird crap free, for 24hrs. So. i offer Angelwax Enigma ceramic wax which Angelwax said when I asked them doesn't need a cure time at all. Sure you can get quicker curing time coatings but the ones Ive seen have a short life, in which cade you might as well apply a good wax

Hi bud, I have a black vw passat 2013 pretty sure never had any detailing done, swirls and holograms are awesome...plus even after a wash paint looks dirty and dull absolutely zero shine. In one video you talked about complete decontamination which would be a wash followed by clay but you never touched upon the chemical ratios and what chemicals you'd use before actually going in with the claying. I will be attempting to polish when the weather allows as doing it outside and then wax to seal the deal. For now have you any video explaining the chemical uses before claying or is it unnecessary? Already ordered korrosol for my awful wheels so that'll be arriving shortly but not sure how much use it'll be to use on the body prior to claying. Cheers 🍻

so wash it down mate with pure shampoo loads of brush work. clean it twice if need be.. rinse it off. go over paintwork with BH korrosol and let it react purple on the paint for 3-4 mis then agitiate it with wash mitt like you are shampooing the car again.. then pressure wash it off. Then dry car... then clay it with BH white clay and soapy water as clay lube in trigger sprayer. then dry off car. and machine or hand polish and wax. DS will last the longest no doubt about that this video is a few months old. AG and gyeon theres not much between them in real world conditions. people are reporting 1 month with gyeon which I think is way under estimating it. I use the word "think" because ive had it on my red peril for about 3 weeks and its going strong still. I suspect im going to get like 2-3 months at least. But durability is always subject mate. products I see last 8 months for me in real life other people claim only last 2 weeks.
