Thank you Zack and to the farmer who allowed Zack to video. Great information. I didn’t under stand the concept of stripe tilling until this video. Thanks again and god bless
That John Deere strip tiller looks like a BEAST! Love seeing tech evolve like this, especially with that passive-aggressive guidance system 😂 Can't wait to see how it performs in the field!
One of the first things I ever seen about these tools was John Deere posting that they partnered with soil warrior on the tool. Then the people posting “ITS JUST A GREEN SOIL WARRIOR” acting like they just discovered a new planet
😂😂😂 same is 100% right about tapping the stick! I drive truck and my new truck is automatic after having a 10/13 speed for years. I shift it manually by “tapping the stick.” Makes me feel manly lmao.
You and the family should take a field trip this winter to Boxler Maple. They have a great operation and it would be a fun collaboration for us viewers. Seems like Warren and Nikki work as hard as you do.
I've actually talked to Nikki about that a few times! It's just been so difficult for me to get away. We have too many other things going on all the time!
There you go Zach, get one of these then you have support, not like pulling hair on your last one trying to figure things out on your own, good luck! Thanks for the video, it’s one of your better ones
A lot of guys have started to strip till for beets around grand forks. I think it works well in our favor with our constant erosion issues. Also going into wheat stubble is much easier to work with than corn because of residue. Nobody had done soys yet
Hi Zack. Scrolled through Google and come across a article about JD and Starlink teaming up to provide cell service to combines and tractors. They are trying to improve their service to rural communities and underserved communities .
The worked row area gets loosened and black for warm seedbed for spring planting. I built anhydrous bars with liquid fertilizer dual application back in the late '90's. We tried for the old row in bean stubble. Felt like it worked well.
Everytime I see someone promoting AG1, I'm reminded of Lucille Ball filming the commercial for VitaMeataVegamin. "It's so tasty!" I can't be the only one!
Wow that’s awesome. I hope you get one or maybe the opportunity to demo one so we can all see more of it in action…and hopefully no hair getting pulled out while you’re using it
Holy boots Batman!! Those are some monster shoes on the 4WD. And hey I’m 40 and just got red under glow for Christmas to put in the ranch dually. But my wife did say she’s married to a 16 year old Dutch kid.
I was glad you mentioned the trouble you’ve had with your fertilizer delivery system at the end of the video. I thought I remembered how frustrated you were trying to get it to work. Thinking about ditching yours and ordering this new one?
As someone not involved in agriculture (I build race cars instead), i love these videos where Zach talks about the concepts behind different types of farming techniques and technologies, the real nitty gritty details.
I’d ditch the fertiliser bins and replace it with an air seeder, then I’d be planting diverse cover crop in the tilled strip. Living roots in the soil at all times to build soil health
Millenel farmer if your kenworth has not been wanting to start it might be starter, alternater,a short in a wire running from the battery to the starter
Zack I've been watching a lot of tiktoks talking about the farm crisis of the 80s. Id love for your dad to take part of a video and discuss what farming was like and how your farm weathered through it.
Looks like a nice rig, but putting the strips between the rows and those huge tires on the tractor take away any chance at using a controlled traffic pattern where you never plant in a compacted area. We did that many years ago using ridge till, but with the guidance today it would be much easier and more precise.
I think i got what you meant. So you don't till everything under. Ripping it up but still have a strip to plant in without disturbing to much soil. Close? Does the dregs of what's left break down and help fertilize?
A very entertaining video. I'm not a farmer and I don't really know a lot of what you two were saying, but the banter alone had me smiling from beginning to end.
Watching the video I'm wondering does strip tilling improve your crops enough to help pay for that piece of equipment. My guess on the price of that strip tiller is mid 6 figures. Does normal tilling with disc's and other tillage tools produce same crop figures
Thanks for another great video. It was very interesting. Well, not going to say understood all of that video but do follow the basic principles and operations of that piece of equipment. From what we saw today I am fairly impressed with the machine. You were doing ten miles an hour and that can cover a lot of ground. Seems to be well constructed. Don’t follow it all but believe it works good depending on how much actual tillage you want to do. I do think we will see Zach looking into one of these. Sam you did good with the drone landing it on the tractor hood. Yea!!!!!! Zach you need to really think long and hard on this machine. Know you’re interested but is it a proven machine yet. Just saying. Your go. Thanks for sharing with us. Nice piece of equipment. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Been watching our farmers for years, don’t farm but learned so much, like tillage methods used depends on the soil type. Minnesota’s soil looks dried lava with the texture of sticky clay, not so great for compaction & draining that’s why they deep rip. Iowa uses a lot more no till or vertical strip tilling. Florida’s planting cotton & peanuts in sand. Bale’s hay is planting in a desert. Implements & methods vary.
It would be interesting if you get to try one of these machines for one season before buying it and see if it makes a big difference in yield and revenue. Especially since yall had so many issues with the old one
Why don’t they have the tires on the cart backwards so that day you did the thicker mother dirt or whatever that they’ll steal turn I just thought they always turn them tires around backwards
When Sam says the containment coulter arms are not adjustable around the 20 minute mark he missed seeing that one of the bolt "holes" is slotted and the arms can be angled in or out to adjust the berm width and height.
Just a silly observation and maybe a stupid question but are tractor lug type tires not usually reversed when not supplying traction? Asking for a friend.
Sounds kinda weird but you should make a video about tile drainage. It seems like people are constantly running into those risers, yet constantly fixing them, so they must be worth having.
Thank you for the education fun video. That's an interesting implement. I would like to see some more opinions, observations?, perceptions?, on it. I don't wonder too far from the farmers I watch, I have come to trust you and them and their opinions. Seeing what works and what doesn't. Maybe this is a new implement for you in the future. Guess we'll have to wait and see. Thank you for the adventure.
Honestly getting technical is the best. I love all the details.
Wearing that vest, Sam had so much room for activities! Wind chill in the teens, Sam went for the vest. Legend

Another Sam & Zach episode, what could possibly go wrong! 😁😂😉 very entertaining!

Send Jim my condolences,he's in a much better place 😭
@@ROCK-s1thome? Jim is at home. I talked to him this morning.
Good work guys, made my 6yo laugh several times during bedtime and made her ask good questions about farming. More of this please.
Thank you Zack and to the farmer who allowed Zack to video. Great information. I didn’t under stand the concept of stripe tilling until this video. Thanks again and god bless
These are the videos I enjoy the most! outdoor classroom! You can't beat that!
It’s always fun to punt a tile intake once in a while!
That John Deere strip tiller looks like a BEAST! Love seeing tech evolve like this, especially with that passive-aggressive guidance system 😂 Can't wait to see how it performs in the field!
Thanks for the ride. Impressive. I will be at the farm progress show in February. Louisville. Ky. Later.
Sam wakes up in the morning, throws on the vest, then loads up the VHS with Richard Simmons' workout video with all those arm movements. 😂😂
Great way to start my lunch break.
One of the first things I ever seen about these tools was John Deere posting that they partnered with soil warrior on the tool. Then the people posting “ITS JUST A GREEN SOIL WARRIOR” acting like they just discovered a new planet
LOL
So true. Key board warrior's with no education behind their comments. This thing is a beast with JD tech behind it.
Cool

We’ve ran a soil warrior for 7 years now. I crunched the ladder on day one, be sure to fold it down before you fold the tool bar up 🤣.
Good tutorial on the 5th wheel pins. Just think of how beneficial youtube is for the younger future truckers. Safe travels Trucker Josh . 🌴☀️
Another thing to the bucket list. That thing is awesomely efficient.

I have been watching your videos for a few years and today I figured out what strip tilling is.
Awesome video as usual you and Sam always make good videos and add that to your bucket list
Thanks for sharing this. I was hoping you would have a video for it after I saw the Instagram story
Another great video! Any updates on Jim? Many of us are thinking of him and missing the big guy!
Jim is at home now and sounds like he's in the clear! He had some complications before but they're hopeful that he's now finally recovering!
@@MillennialFarmer so great to hear! Please send along our well-wishes.. Can't wait to see him with his own camera for spring planting!

All the farming machinery is great and exciting. What isn’t exciting is the price tags. All that tech definitely comes at a huge price.
You and Sam are hilarious together love the videos
I like the big flotation tires on their tractor.
Zach, did you ever show comparison results from the strip tilling you did do?
What a MONSTER of a unit.

We got a little 4 row strip till but it dose not have a fertiliser tank riged to it but yea we just strip till where we have just harvested
Wow, dude, what an awesome machine I could sit in that unit all day ❤.
Is there the large cog wheel which soil warrior offered in place of the smaller lead coulter or a shank going to be available on this JD version?
Watching the video I'm wondering does strip tilling improve your crops enough to help pay for that piece of equipment. My guess on the price of that strip tiller is mid 6 figures. Does normal tilling with disc's and other tillage tools produce same crop figures

The bar is a flat piece of steel cut with an arch in it to allow for a berm. The round bar is straight across.

Noticed that each row has its own basket roller, is that better then just having a longer roller covering like 5 rows?
