Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

I was getting worried "6" wasn't gonna make an appearance
John Deere comes out with a combine thats worth over $1,000,000, "tried to keep corn head simple, less moving parts and affordable to the farmer." 🤣 OK DEERE.
Nice 👍
You saying "thunderrrrrrrr" every time you open Thunderrrrr. NEVER gets old. I laugh every time 😂
But “you’re watching Coleeeeee the cornstar” does.
Same lol
Tony Angel it does 😂😂😂
lol same
6 is doing a great job! Keep up the good work Onyx!
Hearing protection around those big motors and augers my friend. From someone who would give most anything to back up and use it.
Yes, hang a set on coat rack in house, pop on your Mellon on way out door 🚪 keep your ears warm too
Êfp
I like how they post every or every other day. Not once a week. Keep going millennial farmer
Agreed
We can all thank Becky for editing both the vids and the podcast
That's how harvest is. In the dead of summer and winter there ain't as much
Between mn millennial farmer and larson farms I'm loving this harvest
Well its harvest there is a lot more to film
The bucket thingy beside the cup holders is for garbage
I always hung a bag
Probably fits your chicken wing bucket, for when football is on but harvest is priority.
Your “cat container” is supposed to be a trash can lol that way you can pull it out and dump it. Can also be used as a toilet on the go. Pretty handy but not the most sanitary thing in the world. Wouldn’t recommend it. Continue to use outdoor bathroom.
i say its for a cordless Vac so he can vacuum off the cab corn lol
I was gonna say the same thing
Haha.I'm guessing it would splash out on rough ground.I'll let someone else test that theory!
there are plenty of cases worthy of ''trashing'' a 5 gal home depot bukkey you can get one of those toilet seats for them ya kno... .... ummm ;) and that day the taco bell revenge happens you toss that bukkey out someplace and get ya a new 5doller 5gal bukkey lol wait... channeled that from SMPLACE...
I even saw one with bags you could toss away... pretty snazzy if you used to using the tire to prop your back up and try not to hit the wheel... wait... yukkk channeled that one from someplace else also!
Toilet on the go!
I’m really impressed with your son. Running that big equipment with no reservations. You have be extremely proud!
Wow, I’m early. Well, anyone who is reading this, enjoy your day or night!
Enjoying the evening. Pennsylvania light rain
Have a good day . Ps from NC
The Farming Life ah
He pulled a Millennial by just ordering a new camera instead of cleaning it :D
That dirty combine side window has to be the grain cart drivers fault.
Tell the actor who plays the Millennial to bring towels to clean the farmers windows.
Como'n Man, you make that actor work and not just hog the Photo Ops......
Ok who else thought that Leaking spot in the bin was a person standing there.
RandyP that’s exactly what came to mind. Looked like a creepy shadow person 👻 😂
Thats a bin ghost!! @millenialfarmer!!
I thought it was a giant bug.
@@properfunny Now that would be a Guinness Book of Roach Record!
I did i was wondering who was in the bin helping
Now, when someone asks me "Who pissed in your Wheaties?" - Zach - Zach did.
I think you mean CORN flakes not WHEATies. Lol
it's the Welkers who piss in my wheaties
What I want to know is who pissed in my Tofu? €;oD)
Happy National Farmers day. Thanks for what you do for everybody.
"Kenworth or Peterbilt?" ..... someone is a proud dad!!!!
Kensworth
Hell i was proud when I heard that, ain't even my kid lol
Peterbilt
@@kylerjeffrey8092 Kenworth
Onyx looks to be a Wonderfull kid. He does a great job in the cart. (My least favorite task during harvest). You have a great family, never take that for granted and God Bless
If he’d be willing, I’d love to hear Jim’s story and how he came to work for you.
Your dad seems to be a really laid back guy. Even with nursing a bum leg in the middle of harvest his demeanor stays the same. Not so sure I would be so calm.
Zach, if you don’t stop that incessant hard working routine you will likely be receiving a letter from the “Millennial Union”, and I suspect they will not be happy with you making them look bad. Just sayin....
What did Jesus say to the "Millennial Union"? "Don't do anything until I get back".
Onyx is the spitting image of his granddad.
I was a third generation farmer who retired at 65 yrs and had my left knee replaced almost the same day as your dad. I fell and hurt it on almost the same day that your dad "tweaked" his and I go in tomorrow to repair the damage. I feel his pain and frustration.
They want to replace both of my knees not at the same time after watching Zack's dad and hearing your news I'm not to sure about it
@@edcrego396 My fall was due to my own stupidity. But I don't think I would do both knees at the same time. I can think of too many times I needed my other leg during this!
@Wikkitt Klown Thank you, I think this repair surgery will put me on that road.
@Wikkitt Klown Thank you, I am looking forward to a speedy recovery but am going to take it easy this time as well.
Who else is subscribed to millennial farmer and welker farms?
Nope
Me!
@@bcdieselsofficial yes man

Trystan Schroeder thank you!
I wonder if Zach puts an MFer sticker in a random place on the demo units he gets, I know I would.
That thing over your head is a “roof”, and didgeridoo says “ruff”. That’s how it is here in Kentucky anyway lol. Btw that was also a flat “tar” not tire 😉.
I’m from ky too!! Where you at?
Just like ewl not oil lol
Barren Co here too.
@@ryanlawrence9587 central here, rockcastle county
@@cornbread9167 yes! Or even “earl” as I’ve heard a few of the old timers around here call it lol.
I just want to say that it is totally awesome that your son is running the grain cart at such a young age. I was disking fields when I was 6. It's good for the kids- educational and making great memories!
i have been driving trucks for 30 years i HATE flat tires in the morning.
I haven't been driving for quite 30 years, But flat tyres are definitely not my favourite, Although, Zach gets more flat tyres than our entire fleet does, and we have about 35~ at a given time.
Had one this morning on my milk wagon
Seems more often the inside dual also.
Specially in a cold morning
What is worse, the morning flat or the almost done for the night flat
Watch out 6 is gonna be running trucks here in a minute
Give him two maybe three years when that puberty growth spurt kicks in. Those are a lot easier to drive when you can reach the pedals and see over the steering wheel at the same time.
I remember being maybe a year or two older than onyx , cultivating 4 rows of corn with the popping Johnny H with the tricycle front end. No hood !No fenders! just you , the seat , and the steering wheel to hang on to ! Exciting times at the ends of the field. Both hands on the lever to get the Cultivator out of the ground, disengage the hand clutch jump off the seat and stand on the left brake petal while spinning the front end in a perfect half circle. Haha! Pop the clutch back in while giving it a little more throttle and drop the cultivator back in the ground. Almost as exciting as wrestling and holding the firstborn calves at branding.
Mike Mitchell did a good summary on hp needs while reviewing their demo Ideal 10 with close to 800hp. Basic summary was barely enough is not good enough. Need enough to handle every situation you may run into with all machine functions operating, going up hill, fully loaded, mud, unloading on the go, etc.
Think above 1000hp is exempt from all the EPA rules, seems like they way to go. But maybe the manufacturers don't want to sell something reliable?
I was disappointed Mike didn't get the chance to run the X9 this season. Would be good to see a comparo between the Ideal 10 and the X9. The specs seem to indicate the X9 has much greater cleaning capacity, but not horsepower to drive it - would be good to see how they go back to back in real world conditions.
@@IBAdrianHarris The Ideal 10 has a lot more thrashing capacity with 16 foot length. JD’s top pan is just a delivery pan more than a cleaning pan. Ideal 10 is ahead in specifications in all other categories. Fendt Ideal 10 should win in field trials if they re-design their MOG chopper/spreader. The general consensus out their by all the subject matter experts is that John Deere copied the Fendt Ideal’s technology when they came out with the X-9 combine. I looked at the comparisons and I would have to agree.
The thing that a Cat goes in is a Trash can. That’s why you can take it out
Zach “ wait, what did I say”
Me. “you said....”. Than a quick look around to see if the wife heard me talking to my phone!
I'm totally rapt with you showing loving respect too and towards your beaut father Zac. You're handling all problems with calmness and ease, your Dad has taught you well. Total respect from this Aussie
That's how the sun looks like in California when we had all the fires
I am in Minnesota and about two to three weeks or so ago we were getting the glowing orange fire sun from the carry over smoke.
@@yeahboiii6640 sad part is it's a nasty price to pay for a beautiful sunset. We had some amazing ones here in Western North Dakota during the thick of it. You could smell Evergreens burning , a lot different smell than a prairie fire.!.!
Looks like the X9 does a great job overall but for a flagship model, it’s still down 100HP on the Claas 8900 and the Ideal 10. Throw in a Case 8350 and it would be interesting to see all of them go head to head in the same crop. Not just in acres cut but sample, losses and efficiency. I can dream can’t I...?
That area in the cab is probably the trash can
Shout out to Becky and Zach, Grandpa and Onyx for a great family business. Great Videos, Great Podcast. Very consistent in the comedy and 1st hand info from the farming and equipment side of things. Thank You
You should see if you can demo the new Fendt Ideal 10T. 790 hp is definitely enough to get everything done and still perform excellent
Love this so much! The new combine looks too good. Thanks for the constant harvest content. Been really cool to watch, hope I can someday be like you.
"less expense to the farmer" when discussing an x9 is an interesting comment
Lol true statement 🤣
Happy National Farmers Day Sir!👍🇺🇸
"The transfer of grain COMPELS you!"
I've been really enjoying your harvest videos this year -I look forward to them every day and when you skip a day, I think of you guys and how busy you all are! You, Becky, the kids, Jim, your dad - you are all a really great team, and it shows how much you all pull together this time of year to get so much done! Sitting in the suburbs, it's a really different type of life, and I try not to take it for granted that my convenience comes from a lot of hard work from others. Thank you for the education and the perspective!!!
Thank you!!

🙏🙏
You got to admire Onyx (and with him all the other working farmkids over the world). A whole day at school and then jumping on the tractor for who knows how many hours.
3, it was 😁 3 hours
When grand dad was 10 he worked 8 hours a day on great grand pa's farm 🚜, after putting in 6 hours at school, book learnin.
Very little lumbar support on those deere Bs, so like 25 hours in today's rig.
X9 1100 has 690 engine horsepower. Fendt Ideal 10T has 790hp, and I consider it to be a true Class 10 machine. JD is probably down on power.
@Baron Marseille Try going up a hill in 300+ bushel corn and unloading on the go with a 16 row corn head.
Ever day I wake up I began my day watching farming and I end my day watching farming
Anyone else notice that they seem to call each other by there generation of farming. Zach is 5 Onyx is 6 and Nate is 4
Jim is 7, though
awg6397 that must mean he’s a time traveler
Nailed it. Zach covered the radio call signs many years ago. Jim is honorary 7. It is cool to hear 6 this harvest!
Is Becky's call sign 5.1?
Maybe in a few years for the daughters there will be call sign 6.2 and years after a 6.3?
@@CGW116A damn. I dont know how I missed that, its pretty neat actually
Ha,no i didnt! Nice
Are you gonna name your pickup "lightning " so you have thunder and lightning.? Lol.
You were right the first time pick up comes first and then the trailer lightning and thunder. Flash boom.
That’s hole next to the cup holder for “cats” is actually for tile flags. Keep em handy. 😂
Your map is on farming simulator 19 and your house and sheds

When jr: six gone too drive the Big stuff. Like .sorry. I can’t spell it. But the really big one! Hi I love yours show! Fan Sweden.
Onyx?
Zach i have watched you from day 1 n I still love your videos much love from England 🇬🇧
You should really show us how that little moisture tester in the dryer shed works cause I’m really curious
Yeah same here cause ours is different all we have to do is take a bucket out it underneath the crop that's coming out of the semi the go in the tiny house is what we call it then dump it in a like container on top of the sampler machine Tap test crop on the touchscreen on it then it opens the crop goes inside then it levels it automatically inside the machine then it test the crop then you write everything down then it dumps the seed or crop into a tray and then after 5 sample's you have to go dump it in the grain pit where the semis dump so yeah
Those are really old, but must still be good, or they wouldn't be using them.
Fun fact: that moisture tester he has is only a couple hundred dollars less than the X9
always has to be the inner dual
wow for a european i sure am early to the vid
@Luke Augustus I started at midnight when I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. Then I made the mistake of starting to read the comments and commenting and it is now 5:03 a.m. good morning. y'all.

This millennial complaining about brand new machine and I've no problems with a 1960s massey. I'm a gen z for christ's sake
Why not just weld a ring around the bottom of the grain bin on the wall flush to the floor and a angled scrap on the end of the sweep that runs a eight of an inch from the ring on the wall so u don't have to climb in so much
If you inspect a grain bin sometime, you'll know why. They're crude lol. Nothing is within 8" let alone 1/8!
Thank you for all you do!!! Watching you, I now have more respect on how crucial you FARMERS are.
Thank you again.
I noticed a difference in camera quality immediately, thanks for sharing
U need a small snow blower w a auger to move the beans...yes the shovel is faster...not by much
Glad to see your dad is feeling better. I think it is great your son has taken such an interest in the farm are what you are doing. He is doing a very good job on the grain cart.
the next size smaller leixion just set a new world record for bushels combined that was previously set by the 760 lexion blowed the x9 out of the harvest field thats why they are no showing a lot on their demos
Id really like to see onyx have a camera and him talk on here once in a great while.
How Old is Jim? he is walking and working like he is 18! Keep up the good work!
But how is the sound system so I can listen to my "Off the Husk" podcasts?

You never fail to make me feel like you are talking directly with me personally.
I clicked on just for curiosity and I’m impressed with the constant hard work that you do. Two thumbs up! Should be a mandatory video in American elementary schools!!
Hey Zack, you’re running one of the biggest combines ever made, and you’re still able to make it pull down with all that power, I just remember running an old 1440 International no turbo obviously talk about a dog!! That was back in 1981, things have changed obviously!! Way too big of a machine for us💰!! Anyway Zack I love learning about this stuff 👍!!
When I worked for an IH dealer, one of our customers had a 1440. He wasn't happy that he could t unload on the go. He broke a front axle, and brought it in for repair. The engine is straight off one of the regular tractors. While swapping the axle, one mechanic added a turbo to the engine. The farmer loved it. Eve claimed it was more fuel efficient with the turbo, and the fuel savings would pay for the turbo in less then one season.
@@robertheinkel6225 Oh I remember trying to unload on the go, it was always pulling down just with a four row too, that’s really all it needed was a turbo like the 1460, we traded it for a 1640 and that still did not have a turbo but it had the 466 engine and that made a big difference!! They were good old machines to be honest we went with JD in 96 and went back to Case IH last with a 7250 with a MacDon draper and the folding 12 row head !! Very pleased with it does a beautiful job 👍
You need one of those power brooms from Milwaukee to sweep your grain bins
"less expenses for the farmer" haha, something something right to repair.
Thanks for you're heard hard work that you do with you're videos gives me something to look forward to. And as a volunteer firefighter thanks for raising the money for the green bean rescue kit.
The flat tire make the day
Careful with your honest reviews ....johndeere might back out
Yeah, you should have a few spare tires/wheels on stand-by, with all the rubber/rims yous have, lol?
Awesome to see a fellow Minnesotan making it big on UA-cam. Keep up the great work!
Looks to me like we've crossed over the point where machinery has gotten too big.
Not really, have you seen the equipment they use in Australia. Horry crap!
I don't understand why people are so worried about having a clean grain tank as long as elevator accept it you might as well have them pay vou for it
Most farmers don't like to pay dockage.
You realize anything not the best they can “dock” you for? He mentioned FM “foreign matter”. Which can be grain that’s crushed. They reduce payment because of too much FM. Moisture. If it’s over moisture they set, they pay a bit less. Then test weight. If corn is not 56 lbs per Bu they pay less. (And other reasons)
Onyx has gotten so confident pulling that grain cart in such a short time. Pretty cool to watch
Pro tip for cleaning the edge around a bin, use a leaf blower
You should collab with demolition ranch like if you agree
Oh boy now that would be fun!!
I’d also love to see Ammo NYC do a detail on one of the trucks or older tractors.
The biggest issue is the X9 should have been out 5 to 10 years earlier. Now it just trying to keep up. And there is a new CR coming.
"Sending the first string back in." That is one cool kid you got there.
Let the old quarterback with the wisdom, set out a few plays. Both of my sons were wide receivers in high school , both the same height as the old man 6-5. Pretty good Advantage when you can pull them out of the sky at about 9 feet. But hell on knees!
Have you guys considered trying a drago corn header? We have an old series one and it does a great job on our 9770 and the new GT headers are supposed to be phenominal
I live in west texas where we mostly just harvest cotton which we should start this week sometime but i really wanna try corn and soy beans
west texas, and you wanna do corn!! bro! west texas don't get enough rain for that!! if you have land, you can always try some kind of hay for cows
@@davidanalyst671 ik which sucks where i live we only got 4 inches of rain in total this year
I love your channel! I enjoy seeing the equipment and how it all works, mixed with your beautiful family! It makes my day! Keep it up! Sending prayers for all the farmers that keep us all going! Thank you!
It’s an x9 it’s not what they say it’s to be other wise they would not have taken it from mike Mitchell he tests shit... Deere got scared... I wanna see the x9 in wheat and canola not beans and corn put that twin rouder to the test
Tremendous production quality , various camera shots, smart editing, and overall great speech to camera, all adds up to a fully immersive video, which really gets the message across.
Well done .
'For Christ sake', really, never heard you blaspheme before. Disappointing
I agree
I believe he said "cripes sake".
You know corn prices are bad when there are constant ads on the video
Since the combine is running on auto steer couldnt you technically get out and clean the window while its driving itself? :P
And well he's out thier check for corn loss, take leak and possible climb up and down the ladder a few times to loosen up...forget checking for corn loss that machine's running 6mph it could get away from him.
