I'm not rich, so I couldn't afford to buy one ounce or even half ounce gold coins. But for the past five years, I have bought tenth ounce Britannias, quarter ounce Britannias, or Sovereigns and half Sovereigns every month, depending on other expenses and outgoings for that month. It soon builds up. These coins are VAT free and not subject to Capital Gains Tax here in the UK. If you know the right place to look, you can often get these at very low premiums and I usually either buy in person to save postage or go for free postage companies. The coins I got five years ago have gone up fifty per cent, the coins I bought last year not so much. But now that gold is going up again, I might make some money on them too. Either way, it is good insurance against out of control inflation.
Awesome way to stack and loved to see the comparison. Well done. Thank you my friend. I buy so much fractional its just what best fits me right now. Thank you and have an awesome weekend.
1/10 oz american gold eagles are actually my favorite design. the saint gaudens design retaining its detail even when shrunk down to that tiny size makes for a really impressive coin
@@silverbeancounter they’re like gold st gaudens dimes. What’s not to like? I’m surprised more people don’t collect them outside of bullion circles. It’s an underrated coin in my opinion. Or perhaps it is merely underrated amongst the youtube community….
These random design coins have been excellent values, although I've only ordered them from SD. So far I have rec'd Canadian Gold on the 1/4th and 1/10th randoms. Tenths are great if you're a prepper stacker and fourths are cheaper per weight, and I like stacking both. Buy the dip!
I absolutely agree, though depending on the market at the time you're looking to sell you may need to shop around a bit to get the best price, but I guess that's true at most any point. I really like the smaller sizes and it's what I have the most of. The Canadian Polar Bears are awesome. I want one of the 1/4 ounce versions of that. You got some nice pick ups on the cheap!
Agree 100% Have one showing up today, but I ordered a Maple for the sure thing of finishing my Canadian fractional ounce. Looks like I may have anyway. I really like the Polar Bears 👍
Good explanations on why to buy 1/10 oz gold coins. I have a few myself. At times they are the right way to go. Plus they're so cute. Lol. Thanks for the vid.
Yes fractional gold is a good choice. Easiest to liquidate if need be and easiest on the pocket book to buy if you can stand the premiums. I enjoyed the vid. I had sold my full fractional stack a while back and still kicking myself to this day!
I just dont get it. at all. how can it be easiest on the pocket book and have difficult to stand premiums at the same time? thanks for explaining. i really need an aswser
#1 reason is it actually gets you into stacking gold and may provide the catalyst to transition to larger coins such as even just the1/4 ounce size… 1 coin from completing my first 20 coin air-Tite tube and looking towards 1/4 oz or sovereigns going forward
Both are excellent pickups and you definitely cannot go wrong with the Britannia they are very nice well crafted design one my favorites ... Good video 👍
Excellent video. I am a new gold stacker with a couple of 1/10 ounce gold and a 1 gram (first gold purchase, was very excited and just wanted a piece of gold) and was looking at buying a 1/4 ounce. You made the right call but keep checking that math. Market conditions may change but probably not for a while. I know what you mean about silver. Can't go cold turkey 🦃
I've been stacking these 1/10 oz gold coins for years now and they are great. I haven't ordered from sd bullion yet but that's going to change very soon. The Britannia is a beautiful coin just like the Canadian polar bear. My silver hoard greatly outnumbers my gold but I'm working on changing that
Valcambi Gold CombiBar would be great for fractional gold. If the premiums for the total weight of the bar were competitively priced. A 200 dollar premium on a 50 gram bar is expensive. Its intended to be divided up so it certainly has no numismatic value.
Australia.I just bought my first ever gold.1 x 2009 1/10th Maple and 1x1/10th Britannia, both about $330aud,ea. Gold $2500 oz here so 1/10th oz works out to about $3,300 oz. A bit much so I decided to save up $700aud and buy 1/4 oz gold coins. Cheers.

1/10th oz is the smallest I think most recommend buying. I picked up a few over the weekend for Black Friday deals. One of my dealers were selling brits 1/10 for 211 flat.
Hold on to your fractional. I believe that in years to come as new people enter the precious metals market this is what most will be buying and able to afford. The average person won't be able to fork out thousands of dollars for an ounce in years from now.
You know I've just realized that they have real legit stores on eBay where you can pay using cashback cards that equal the same amount as using a check/wire on online stores or even cheaper. Just as an extra shield of protection in case something happens to the bullion and it's a credit builder move for same or less money. Idk I just saw some benefits while looking for my first long awaited gold buffalo.
Nice pick ups. After 2 years of stacking cheap silver, it's been a very gold heavy year for me. Silver premiums are just stupid right now. Is this a cycle or the new normal?
Cool I've not seen the polar bear in gold. I tend to stick to sovereigns for my fractional purchases unless I spot a particularly cheap deal for something. It's cool having the tenths but I keep selling them to drop my cost average
I like your take on the 1/10. I guess the 1/15 ratio is a thing of the past. Speculators are willing to pay for silver premiums for the chance of that ratio dropping. Could you imagine a 15:1 ratio with no gold value loss! 😳
I’m a fan of the kooks. I thought they would just be a one time deal a couple years ago, but it looks like they will be doing them yearly in tenth ounce gold and surprisingly platinum as well.

My LCS has been getting $220 for 1/10 oz gold all day long. Agree. No deals at the moment. In fact, with premiums dropping on generic silver, it's making it hard to find a deal on fractional gold that makes sense.
I diversify..... 1oz gold generally with much more silver (a volume ratio of about 38:1). I think I will start to add a bit of Pt as a speculation and get a total of 5 to 10 oz.
I think you are very smart guy, Silver Bean Counter. 1/10 ounce gold coins are the way to go because gold is expensive and most people cannot afford to buy the 1 ounce coins. Just the facts.

Depends on who you sell it to. Peer to peer, most if not all. To a coin shop, no. You'll sell for a significant discount. But that would be the case for silver too, but a little worse from a percentage standpoint.
@@silverbeancounter Thanks for your reply. My jewelry shop/LCS pays higher than spot for both gold and silver, even generic and whole ouncers. I'm leery about selling "peer to peer" as you never knows who will follow you home because they think you have a bigger stack there.

The reason to buy 1/10th ounces. You may not ever get enough money to buy an Ounce which cost about $2000.00. But $200.00 is a reasonable price to exchange for 1/10th ounce of gold

1/10 is definitely my favorite. Agreed!
Are you flipping these on ebay or local facebook groups?
Not flipping. They're a hold for now.
Where do you get those all clear capsules for the 1/10 oz gold age, if you wouldn't mind, like what's the label for them please?
Onfireguy. They on eBay and they have a web site.
@@silverbeancounter o yea? I've bought some other sizes from them before. Idky I have a hard time finding the all clear but with a border like that. Usually they are more direct fit or have a ring
I just realized the amount of waste 2 little coins create... Insane! nice coins though
Ain't math great 😁👍🎉
➗ 🧮 👍
The reason to buy 1/10th ounces. You may not ever get enough money to buy an Ounce which cost about $2000.00. But $200.00 is a reasonable price to exchange for 1/10th ounce of gold
Yup. Affordability made the top 5 👍
Am i completely stupid or what? If you buy 10 1/10ths, of course you will have more than enough to buy an ounce. What am I missing?
