I'm making this recipe for a 2nd time today. 1st time was literally the best whole chicken we've made for our family of 5 before. The sheer simplicity of this recipe when compared to the intensity of flavor is truly remarkable. Thank you Coit for this recipe video that will be a new staple for our household moving forward. Bravo!
We ended up using a 4-5 lb. chicken. I've made it a few more times since then and I've found that the closer to 5 lbs. you get you may need to cook for a little longer. For example the chicken which was between 4 & 4.25 lbs. took roughly the 1 hour (30 minutes per side) that is mentioned in the video and the online recipe. The chickens that were between 4.75 & 5 lbs. however, took around an extra 15 minutes to cook through completely in our air fryer. @@annn8389
@@annn8389 little be to late 😂 1 year after.... for 2 adults 3 small children 1 chicken will probably do the trick. But to be safe do 2 chickens that way you could have leftovers. 1 hour for each chicken then you could just put it to reheat in the microwave or oven.
Wet brine the chicken for 24 hr in salt, sugar and apple cider vinegar. Rinse, Pat dry then proceed with this cooking method. Will up this game big time😊
I'm cooking a whole chicken in the air fryer now, but I cut it in half because I'm sending the other half to my daughter and her husband and my granddaughter. Just my 15-year-old son and I are eating it. I will let you know how mine turns out. I'm so impressed with how your chicken turned out! A yogurt marinade and honey mustard spice were used to marinate my chicken. I'm hoping mine turns out as good as yours, but if it doesn't, I'll just blame it on the air fryer! It's my first time watching your channel! I've subscribed!
Thank you for fantastic recipe. I made more marinade, pour it over and also inside the chicken, let its stand for half-hour and bake it. It turned out delicious. My family was very impressed. Thank you.
I watched your video this afternoon and then cooked my chook in the air fryer. It was SUPERB! No more chooks in the oven. Thank you so much! It was so moist with crunchy skin.
I stuffed the cavity with an onion. I made extra rub and reserved some of it to baste the chicken at the beginning point of cooking and also when I flipped it over. I also added some rosemary and poultry seasoning to the rub. We don’t eat the skin so I carefully applied the rub underneath the skin as much as possible. This was our first whole chicken done in the air fryer - absolutely outstanding!!
I made this yesterday. Followed the recipe exactly. This is my second air fryer chicken. Both were good but this one was super simple and was delicious and moist.
I tried this method of cooking a chicken for Thanksgiving this year. I cooked one chicken in the slow cooker and one using this recipe. I will never, ever cook chicken any other way than this way!!! It came out PERFECT ! Thank you so much for this video!!!
I am definitely going to do a whole chicken in the air-fryer! This looks amazing - so crispy. Also learned about placing the breast down to get juices from darker meat and for skin to be golden crispy. YUMMY!
Extremely flavorful and extra crispy skin. Great idea starting it with the breast down so the juices run to the breast before flipping it to get the extra crispy skin. It was so juicy and so delicious, my new favorite way to prepare whole chicken.
I bought a Cosori 5.8 explicitly to airfry a whole chicken for my family. I'm making it now. At the halfway point, I opened it, and I couldn't believe how crispy the skin was. I can't wait to get my family's reaction to this.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for sharing. I was buying rotisserie chickens almost weekly. This is saving me so much money. Thanks again. My chicken came out perfectly. 😊😊
That is one DEEE-LICIOUS lookin chicken!! And, I really do appreciate how you give us your measurements. Always simple and to the point. I'm binge watching your air fryer vids today and am LOVING IT!! You share some EASY, FAST & FABULOUS recipes. Thanks loads for sharing with us. Arlene
I mean I am in shock!! I have never made a more beautiful chicken than I did today, and how friggen EASY!! I’m sending this video to my mom!! I bought her an air fryer and she has yet to use it as she is intimidated by it!! Now she is a great cook and may not need the air fryer, but she’s 89!!! I wanted to make her life easier!! I on the other hand am not a great cook. Still learning a lot!! Thank you soo much Coit!
I made this and did what a commenter suggested by rubbing the mixture then letting it sit out for at least a half hour. I made it again today. You can definitely trust this recipe. It's simple and pretty much foolproof. And most importantly it's really good!
That chicken looks great. IMHO, I would have seasoned the end side too. I love my air fryer. I have a newer version with a rotisserie built-in. I can get about a 3.5 lbs bird max on my rotisserie.
Thank you for showing how to properly flip a partially cooked chicken. Every recipe recommends this method, but no one demonstrates. Thanks again. I’ll let you know how it goes, just popped the chicken into the air fryer. 😊
I have a Cosori Air Fryer and I LOVE it! I made this chicken today (2.5 lb) and I substituted ancho chili pepper (it is not spicy) for the paprika. It turned out absolutely delicious...the skin was crispy and so tasty! We destroyed that chicken. I have to make this again! 👍👍👍 PS: I don't understand the negative comments from those who did not like the outcome...it was so easy. AND, you do know what you are doing...thanks for the great recipe.
Followed your recipe exactly as described by you in my Philips XL airfryer the result was the best chicken I have ever eaten! So simple and at the same time so delicious
I never understood why some people are affraid of touching raw meat... A lot of people will use rubber gloves or forks... There is absolutely no danger to manipulate raw meat, just as long as you wash your hands after doing it...
I was a bit reluctant to use an air fryer for anything other than sausage and chips. This video gave the confidence to try something more daring. I did and it was the best thing ever. Now I feel confident enough to experiment more cooking with an air fryer. Thank you 🙏🏻
OMG! I just made this! soooooo delicious!!! I'm never buying another pre-cooked chicken again! And it was a free range chicken too, so it was optimistic when they killed it! I think you can actually taste the happiness
Hey, Chief. I tried doing an air fryer whole Chicken, I didn't have enough for the dry rub so I used a Teriyaki marinade and brushed both sides twice, once before and once during it. Next time I know, brush it only once but it was still juicy and still good. And the four pound chicken only cost me like 8 bucks
My go to roast chicken recipe in my air fryer. I've made with this recipe a few times. They all turned out perfect and juicy. Will roast another chicken shortly. :)
Why didn't you let the chicken sit for half an hour with the seasoning on it and let it come to room temperature? All win-win, the chicken gets infused with the season and the cook is better.
I’m so happy I’ve found you 🙏🙏🙏. I cooked my first Roast Pork in the fryer on the weekend and OMG… Crackle was perfect and the meat so juicy. Tonight I’m trying your chicken. Wish me luck 🤞. Even if it doesn’t turn out as good as yours…. I’m happy just to watch you cooking 🔥 🤣
I just need to convert pounds to Kilos, Fahrenheit to Degrees as I’m watching from down under. Can I suggest you might add the conversion to your videos? 🙌
So appreciate the chicken lost its life to feed me. Use all the nice meat for meals, scabby bits for the dogs, bones for stock which makes a nice veg soup and the stock residue (cracked bones, etc,,,) out in the fields for the badgers and foxes. No waste. The poor thing died to feed me so no waste.... Thankyou Mr Chicken.....
This looks super yummy, trying it right now! One note though, it is suggested to use cooking oil with a lower smoke point like avocado oil whenever cooking with an airfryer ;)
Hi Coit, my air fryer has a few option asides from air frying. May I ask if you used the air frying option or roasting option for the chicken? Thank you. You've just earned another subscriber

I can smell it from here, winner, winner chix dinner that looks awesome, a friend of mine just gave me a airfryer I'm going to have to try it that looks so good
I have been air frying a half of chicken and have been impressed with the results. I’m going to venture out and try a whole fryer now. I will use your cooking temps and time. With the half chicken I set temp at 400 for 20 minutes then again after flipping the chicken. Then 20 minutes at 300. Plus rest time. Who needs those $4.99 Cost co chickens when you can do this at home. Much better flavor. To me the Cost Co chickens have an off putting chemical taste. Thanks Coit.
I tried your salad, and wings . They were so good. I like the simpe and quick way to demonstrate. And some tips ( like in it using gravity) to make more juicy.
Just use those blue disposable gloves they sell at Target. I use them for any heavy “food touching” recipes. Like meatballs, cookie dough, sometimes even when I have to touch raw onions I agree, breast side down, then flip. My air fryer has a rotisserie spit feature, so I would use that method
One suggestion, season the inside of the chicken before you rub the marinade in, just salt and pepper, it makes a huge difference to the cooked chicken.
`best thing about it is I can cook and sort out crispy roast potatoes and have them in the oven, whilst the chicken is in the air fryer, considering here in Germany double ovens are not a thing, its a huge help!
Great video, easy to follow, appreciate the 1 teaspoon rule for the herbs and spices. You're a funny host and I laughed out loud a couple of times. Great work, thank you !!
Thanks man, this is great for a single dad. Love videos made by real people with actual verbal explanations ❤

I made this today. Honestly, this was the juiciest chicken I ever made. And the easiest.
I love it
