    Hi Kerry, I always cheat with the extra large chicken, chop it in half and bang one half in each drawer at 190 for about 30 mins. Whip it out when its done, wrap in foil, cover with pot towel and then cook whatever else we having in the drawers. By the time ive cooked the chicken is well rested, juicy and still lovely and warm 😊 We love air fryer chicken in our house lol. Thanks again for another great Ninja tutorial.

    Done to perfection Kerry. Not going to fit a turkey in there back to using the retired square thing standing in the corner. I think it's called an oven.

      Lol Julie you really made me chuckle, that square thing in the corner 🤣 think you're right, realistically especially if a large number of people are coming on the big day, that box will have to come out of retirement. AFs will definitely help thou!😀💕💕

    I spice the bird by injecting spices under the skin ground in grape seed oil. Stuffing the bird with lemons is a great idea.

    Like most people who have cooked a chicken in the air fryer and it’s gone wrong I’m one of those people Kerry. I’ve never cooked a whole chicken in the air fryer since. Today I cooked a whole chicken your way and was pleasantly surprised it turned out right. I did probe it after 60 minutes and although it was cooked the thermometer did start going down a bit so put it in for 10 more minutes as it was a smaller chicken than yours Kerry. The chicken was lovely and I will be cooking a whole chicken again now in the air fryer.

    I can comfortably accommodate a 1.7kg chicken in my basic Gourmia 6.7l air fryer, and find that 35 minutes breast side down followed by 25 minutes breast side up (all at 160 C) is perfect. The flavour is better than oven roast and the meat is really juicy - it's like a rotisserie style chicken - I wouldn't want to go back to the conventional method now!
    Although there never seems much in the way of juices in the basket at the end, it is because the juices that do run off into the basket become concentrated down. I throw about 250ml of boiling water into the basket after removing the chicken and swirl it around, and after separating off the fat it makes delicious gravy!

    Hi Kerry, the chicken was perfect. I love the skin when it's all nice and crispy. I did one in the dual blaze last week and it was lovely, i cover the legs up with foil near to the end of cooking as John doesn't like them too hard. I also did some roast potatoes and carrots at the same time. I was watching Graham gets about and he put his potatoes and carrots in the same time, i thought what a good idea

    Kerry I’ve made roast chicken in my
    Ninja AF400 quite a few times - start off breast side down for about 30
    mins then turn over for about 30 mins - check temperature to make sure it’s fully cooked. Turns out juicy & tender every time.

    I also fried a whole chicken in my airfryer, the meat was tender and juicy enough, but it stuck to the carcass when I compare it to a pot-fried chicken, where I also have plenty of liquid to make sauce from. So next time I choose the pan and then put the parts in the air fryer to get a crispy skin ☺

  • @Riverside1962
    @Riverside1962 10 місяців тому +1

    I forgot to mention in my previous comment that it is important to take the chicken out of the fridge 30-60 minutes ahead of time, to ensure it has time to come to room temperature before cooking. This helps to ensure that it cooks through evenly. Also, the centre will cook more quickly if the cavity is left open rather than being stuffed. You probably wouldn't need as much extra cooking time if the hot air were able to circulate freely into the body cavity. Perhaps a few slices of lemon loosely inserted rather than a whole lemon would help?

    • @budgetcookinguk
      @budgetcookinguk  10 місяців тому +1

      Thank you, top tips😀👍 I do take my meat out prior to cooking, usually up to an hour - agree re needing to come to room temp before cooking but have also forgotten and cooked chicken straight from the fridge, the Airfryer gets to temp so quickly I've not seen any difference in time taken, this might not be the case if cooking in an oven thou

    Yes you can cook a whole chicken from raw in the Cosori dual blaze perfect 190 at 55mins you don’t need to turn it. We did with a raw chicken from Sainsbury’s at 1.9 kg . When you take the chicken out to rest , the juice that is left in the air fryer slice carrot and parsnips drizzle with plenty of clear honey and roast at 180 for 20 minutes and shake occasionally. Absolutely delicious according to my other half Jean .

      Aww this is so tricky Norma as both are great choices, pricewise the cosori beats the ninja but 2 drawers is very useful and I like the depth of the ninja baskets - saying that, I love the cosori dual blaze having a bottom element as I can cook lots of things direct in the basket (crisper plate out) oooo tough choice!!

    Exactly the way I do mine. I've only ever done a medium sized chicken though so the 30 mins each side is just enough. I've never tried one in the Dual Blaze. A bit scared to, the element is lower (or the basket is shallower)

After I bought it I heard that it affects the cooking times and temperatures. Maybe I should experiment a bit and see how much difference it makes.

I stick to cooking mine in one of my older ninja air fryers (one of the first grill ones out) which has a splatter guard and it makes a world of difference and doesn't affect the cooking at all...splatter guard all the way ladies 😊 xxxx

    Hey, nice video. Thanks. A couple of questions please. Between a "Cosori Turbo Blaze 6L" and a "Ninja MAX PRO 6.2L" which one would you recommend and why? Above all, based on your experience, which do you think is better, between the two mentioned, for yield and cooking of food, especially for cooking a "whole chicken", considering that Cosori is the only one on the market to have a DC motor and I don't know if this aspect really constitutes an advantage compared to other air fryers or if Ninja has other better features. In the video, if I'm not mistaken, you use a "Ninjia Dual Zone MAX PRO" 9.5 (?), for space reasons I couldn't afford it, but can you help me on the best one to buy among those I indicated? Thanks!
