Many people know these basics but I was thinking that a video series like this could help so many understand more about the sport who haven't actually done it. Thank you guys!... hope you learn and enjoy!! 🤙

Definitely a great vid. My 9 yr old just started wrestling and this helped him(and my wife) understand wrestling much better.

Very helpful for me. I recently moved to a small town in OK and folk-style wrestling is the most popular sport here.

I see your hater is still subscribed. On another note, Trent needs to watch out. Alex is getting big. Good job on the video, guys.

My 6-year-old just started wrestling. He doesn't know what he's doing and I'm no help because I never wrestled. However, this was extremely helpful for both of us. Thank you

Garry Tonon is pretty good with his wrestling... he is very exciting to watch!! He is the most exciting grappler of this modern era in my opinion!

I came from Canada do compete in a wrestling tournament. We had never even heard of folk style. Our coach protested the tournament because we were not aware of the rules. The convener said we had to wrestle folk style and we got crushed. In day 2 the appeal came out in our favour and all day 1 results were thrown out and we had to wrestle freestyle. I remember our first wrestler giving a 5 point suplex to an American wrestler and he screamed when he went over. Found out they didn’t like being thrown and we won 10 of 12 matches. I liked the idea of ground wrestling but still like to throw guys and at 6’6” that’s a long way down.

Wow, coach! It's like you read my mind and uploaded right away! I've always been interested in it but in Malaysia no one talks about it, and when you bring it up they think you're talking about WWE.

Always interested how they score points bcs, all i see is two sports teens locked on....... to breakaway to score one point.... wow.... that... is.... hard...... cos most of the sample i saw its impossible to break free. Thanks to user MIdwest Wrestler not only i learn more how this sport is played out but also damn, finally i know the name of the sport hahahaha. Not just wrestling but folkstyle wrestling. This sport seriously damn tough. Very very physical and scale 1 to 10.... this is a 10 .... super hard sport. Thanks again for the great break down.

How many remember when the start lines were moved to where they are now instead of the back foot on the outside of inner circle? Can you go into details about potentially dangerous since I know that has changed a lot since I wrestled in the 80's

No you learn as you go. And you should do it (if you haven't already)
I didn't start Wrestling until my junior year and only wrestled for 2 years, but it was great

Hey Brian, I just noticed something new over at the Tristar Gym channel. A subscriber can now "join" the Tristar Gym as well as being a subscriber. $5 a month to "join". You might want to check that out. I haven't seen this before. I will definitely join if you go this route just to let you know🙂.

Thank you for the content Coach! If possible I would love to hear your take on setting up takedowns in MMA when fighting opponent with opposite stance eg Southpaw vs Orthodox. I know the single is always there in that case but how about setting up doubles against opposite stance or any other takedowns/entries you recommend? Thank you 🙏

Bro they say 2 sec but some refs making me pin them for like a whole hour . I’ve lost because of that because he’s tryna break out and I’m using all my energy to pin him and they end up getting out

They are brothers, but they don't like each other very much. Right?
And the first lesson in folk wrestling is... Make sure you don't like your opponent.
That's why I am so bad at bjj. I like all my opponents and spend half the match complimenting them on how good their choke is.

I would have been a way better wrestler if I understood the rules. I had a small stint in middle school and freshman year high school where I was a a pretty decent freshman JV wrestler. If I understood the rules more I probably could have dominated more.
