Hey Jimmy, it's the German guy who asked you to do a review of the Trotter ... two years ago. I'm glad to see that you finally gave it a shot :-) Considering countless comments of the past years that came down to mere 'knock-off' verdicts, I expected lots of condescending remarks on the Chinese competitor. Well, maybe the overall vibe about the FM monopoly has changed a bit since then. And maybe your channel attracts a different kind of audience. I don't have any experience with the 1500 watt T3 but it seems that the product still needs some refinement. Same phenomenon to be seen when new EUC's enter the market. And, in my opinion, the battery size for now doesn't match the appetite the bigger motor comes with. But being the happy owner of a 700 watt Trotter since 2017, I can assure everyone that the Trotter company builds devices you can count on. Apart from a battery upgrade from 4.4 Ah to 7 Ah [which a local expert did for me - without getting sewed or anything] my Trotter has remained in its original state. The tire e.g. looks just the way it did when I received it. And I ride offroad most of the time. I'm looking forward to see the evolution of the Trotter MAGwheel and I hope that the OneWheel community will keep an eye on it, too. It's good to have the freedom of choice, isn't it? Best wishes, Nordlicht.
I do not own a FM OneWheel, only road a Pint once, which was o.k. till I tried a pirouette and leaned too far in... took off the back foot ... the thing took off and dragged me down. Mounting my Trotter [I ride regular, so my right back foot is down] is buttery smooth, I can pretty much level it on a dime, stand still on it and go either way - as Jimmy put it in the video: just let it do its thing, get the hang of it, don't jerk around. When stopping, hopping off is best for me, front foot to the left, back foot to the right, Trotter stands upright in the middle. If the 1500 watt should generally fall to the closed side of the rim and beep immediately ... now that should be annoying.
@@nordlichtgermany My t3 stands up, but it is slightly off balance and does occasionally fall over if the ground isn't level. Kind of annoying and I've thought of adding weights to it to fix the balance.
There’s definitely a reason why one wheel charges what they do , would be nice to see a upgrade and some actual competition like EUC’s , I think that’s why that market has taken off and taken my heart with it Will never stop loving the one wheel though!
@Bean Oak just because they have something strong doesn’t mean they can just make two versions and be done, I had to strap a battery on my pint just to sum what feel comfortable while taking it out, I have a smaller battery s-18 EUC that goes at least 35 miles and that’s small for this type… that’s insane and why a lot are converting lol
@Bean Oak haha I’ll be honest I’ve never had so much fun on my pint but I got a S18 suspension EUC and it felt so much better on my back and now I can literally go places it’s so much more than a commuter. Now I’m able to keep up and pass mtn bikes on trails and some cars lol but it’s nice to have that range and added speed, larger tire even if one wheel guys talk about how that’s not important.. it really is lol especially for the price you get so much Have the S-20 eagle pre order in and I’ve never seen something so advanced and beautiful. It’s exciting to be a EUC rider! I can’t imagine in 5-10 years what they will be coming out with Have a blessed Sunday!
I mean FM holds the patent so that's why they charge what they charge. I don't ride EUCs, but I can see how each year those things are insanely improving.
@@infiniteoffset so many companies = competition and competitive prices with good specs, FM can charge whatever they want and I don’t think it’s with it for a pint or XR unless you just wanna ride around
Complete honest opinion... I went from a trotter t3 to a onewheel xr, the ow is amazing in comparison to safety and handling. Trotter is just difficult to dismount and clunky feeling on rides. Plus ow has an app to keep up with battery life maintenance and overall performance. U definitely get what u pay for
Two products that I think you should check out that could revolutionize the market: Shred Town Batteries In-Fender Pint battery (maybe the Pint becomes the go to now with a range of 20 miles and STILL cheaper than the XR?), and the Float Wheel (the DIY OneWheel for $650!). Keep up the great content!
I use to have the older model trotter and upgraded to the pint but I have the inverse view, the trotter did like to start by reversing until I adjusted the level by holding the power but in motion it felt rock solid and responsive, the only issue I had was that the waterproofing was non existent so blew up a couple of controllers so decided to get the pint which was twice the price and learning to start the pint without it rushing off and burning it's tire because of the lack of a back sensor took a lot to get use too, I feel the trotter I got which was only £500 is a good starting board for those that want to test if it is for them but then upgrade if they like it, the pint I feel is a danger to people starting out as it is much harder to learn if you don't have someone to help but the pint is a more enjoyable ride
I can use an update Mr. Chang on whether you enjoy the EUC or onewheel more since you have had more time with EUC. I am new to all of this and am trying to figure out if i should get the one wheel or EUC. The EUC doesn't look comfortable but looks fun. The one wheel looks comfortable and more comparable to surfing, skateboarding, etc. Thanks!
Both different rides that I enjoy for different reasons. But if I have to pick one, hands down, the EUC is my go to gadget... and 3 out of my 4 kids would pick the EUC over the Onewheel while one kid would pick the ebike as his PEV of choice.

That is a key ingredient to it being close to “other” more popular onewheels.
neat to see something is trying to be like the onewheel but I think it definately needs tuning. FM not being right to repair friendly is eventually going to lead to their downfall if they dont change and people figure out the ride of the onewheel and what makes it that way. I know the DIY is getting close but isnt there yet. I would love for my next board to be something not from FM and something I can maintain myself long term. for now like everyone else I will just hop on my XR and it is what it is.
5:11 This POS beeps for any reason. It beeps if the battery is low, if you're going too fast, or if the board rolls on its side. I got my Trotter in 2017 and had it for a year before the XR dropped and I can definitely say that beep is enough to drive you insane. That beep will drive your crazy 🤣
@@nyccollin Yes, worth 2-300 with a bigger battery, bigger motor, bigger tire, and more aluminum in it than the onewheel has. The parts alone are worth more than that. Plus the board rides fine. It just takes more practice than a onewheel. You can't rely on the software to do things for you, you have to actually be good at it. That means a longer learning curve sure, but it doesn't make it a bad product.

@@freshlycharged Good review Jimmy, but... Think of a trotter as EUC in terms of balancing algorithm and try lowering the tyre pressure a bit. Tyre takes more round shape when over inflated and starts rubbing against the foot plates and makes it over correct little balance corrections. That should resolve the jitter issue. I'm 200 lbs running ~ 26 psi and haven't had any jitters on T3. The ones in the video look quite bad. As an EUC rider, watching a onewheel comparison is like watching kids compare their cosy coupes while I’m sitting in a Tesla. I guess they’re different, but even the poorest performing modern EUC blows the onewheel out of the water. Still, it looks like fun. I wonder why they don’t make one with decent performance (at least a 1750Wh battery and a 2500W motor).

I'm trying to decide between the bigger or smaller onewheel. Will be my first one. I'm looking for whichever will be less likely to throw me off. Any recommendations. I live in Colorado and will be doing light trails.
What Bell helmet is that? Appears to have a removable chin bar? I ordered my first Onewheel (a Pint X) yesterday and getting gear... I ordered a cheap set on amazon of knee pads, elbow and wrist guards and helmet, but want a beefier helmet as well. I'm a motorcyclist too and debating just getting a dual sport helmet for a beefier option for the Onewheel and when I get a dual sport bike for offroading.
Back when I bought my first onewheel I researched all of the options in hopes that a cheaper version would be adequate. It quickly became apparent that there really was no competition and if I wanted to shred pavement with the feel of other board sports I had to put up the cash for the real thing. There is a reason that they cost a lot. The technology in a onewheel is wayyyyy ahead of the curve. Imagine trying to drop off curbs while doing over 10 mph on a trotter😆. You would get enough airtime to log in your logbook!
I do drop off curbs at 10mph on my trotter....it's fine. It just takes more technique than doing it on a onewheel. Because the controller isn't as good as the onewheel controller your body control has to be better to do it. But because you learn on the trotter and practice on it, you naturally develop the technique necessary to do it. The only thing that you really can't do is curb nudges. I've been trying and I can't get it to work, because the trotter attempts to stay perfectly level and has very little give in the up and down tilt of the board. That makes curb nudges really hard to pull off. But curb drops just take a little practice and you are good.
12:10 - Thought you were going to say "the competition" lol. Edit: Okay the competition element was mentioned after that. Not that this current thing is going to provide much competition, but still.
The Trotter sounded like it was grinding something the whole time. It wasn't silent. Was that artifacts from recording or is there a noticeable sound coming from it?
The Trotter guy makes it look smooth. I wont buy a trotter unless i can ride it first. I tried contacting him since im from Michigan. A few hours away from him. But he doesn't seem friendly or very informative. . . oh well. My xr is amazing. The most fun i ever had.
It is smooth, if you practice and learn how to ride it. The trotter takes more technique and has a longer learning curve than the onewheel. You have to develop the muscle memory for it, but once you do it's plenty smooth. Imo the trotter is more similar to a skateboard than a onewheel is.

it's the German guy who asked you to do a review of the Trotter ... two years ago. I'm glad to see that you finally gave it a shot :-)
Considering countless comments of the past years that came down to mere 'knock-off' verdicts, I expected lots of condescending remarks on the Chinese competitor.
'without getting sued' that is, ; )
I remember those emails! I appreciate the support. I really do hope they continue to improve the product.
There’s definitely a reason why one wheel charges what they do , would be nice to see a upgrade and some actual competition like EUC’s , I think that’s why that market has taken off and taken my heart with it
Will never stop loving the one wheel though!
Now I’m able to keep up and pass mtn bikes on trails and some cars lol but it’s nice to have that range and added speed, larger tire even if one wheel guys talk about how that’s not important.. it really is lol especially for the price you get so much
Have the S-20 eagle pre order in and I’ve never seen something so advanced and beautiful. It’s exciting to be a EUC rider! I can’t imagine in 5-10 years what they will be coming out with
Have a blessed Sunday!
@@thefoss721 Patent is crippling the competition and FM doesn't hesitate to sue everybody.
Complete honest opinion... I went from a trotter t3 to a onewheel xr, the ow is amazing in comparison to safety and handling. Trotter is just difficult to dismount and clunky feeling on rides. Plus ow has an app to keep up with battery life maintenance and overall performance. U definitely get what u pay for
Totally agree
Two products that I think you should check out that could revolutionize the market: Shred Town Batteries In-Fender Pint battery (maybe the Pint becomes the go to now with a range of 20 miles and STILL cheaper than the XR?), and the Float Wheel (the DIY OneWheel for $650!). Keep up the great content!
Bru the Swiss Army knife analogy
Kudos to you
I use to have the older model trotter and upgraded to the pint but I have the inverse view, the trotter did like to start by reversing until I adjusted the level by holding the power but in motion it felt rock solid and responsive, the only issue I had was that the waterproofing was non existent so blew up a couple of controllers so decided to get the pint which was twice the price and learning to start the pint without it rushing off and burning it's tire because of the lack of a back sensor took a lot to get use too, I feel the trotter I got which was only £500 is a good starting board for those that want to test if it is for them but then upgrade if they like it, the pint I feel is a danger to people starting out as it is much harder to learn if you don't have someone to help but the pint is a more enjoyable ride
Really was about time it had some competition to make it fair priced
@@freshlycharged sweet! thanks Mr. Chang, i appreciate you taking the time to respond. maybe you can do a video with the new EUC that has the tesla battery! what a game changer!
I met Joe there at the StokeLifeService tent, class act thru and thru! Can’t wait to do business with him
This is the kind of thing I've been waiting/hoping for. A company seemingly worth supporting that doesn't conduct itself as Future Motion has.
This is a good review love it
I know joe he lives in my town and he let me ride one of his trotters
I think you are spot on with the review I like the trotters and the direction they are going with them and the fact we can get any part for them or up grades I can’t to see what they in store for the future
I agree there needs to be more competition. One wheel looks better and I was turned off by the surging I saw. I’m sure it will improve.
Just started the video and I can tell I'm gonna like it because I hear my tech savy guy, Wren
Thanks again for this video. You’re one of the reasons why I got a Onewheel #pint and also wear safety gear. - aloha from Hawai’i
FM did sue trotter already but fail. Trotter actually came out first.
If the Magwheel is supposed to be a competitor, I can't wait to see it improve over iterations.
Hearing my bro Javier Starks' voice was a nice surprise. Shout out to the Onewheel Wing.
Yeah, I think I'll stick to the Onewheel. Not mad at competition though.
Javier is a good dude!
@@freshlycharged Agreed. Keep up the great work!
Great video as usual. I love the fact that you’re on top of all the new stuff out there. Looking forward to more content. Can you do a review of Floatwheel. Mario had one. I’ve have one plus a Pint and they are very close. Would love to get your opinion. Be sure you use Surfdado’s firmware 51 on it though. That is a key ingredient to it being close to “other” more popular onewheels.
I hope they can get that board on par we need this
neat to see something is trying to be like the onewheel but I think it definately needs tuning.
Nah they should just give up. Never should have released it in this state.
Hey Wren was in the background of the first clips!
And even more at the end!
I can’t believe they’re asking $1399 for this POS. ITS MAYBE worth 2-3 hundred.
That means a longer learning curve sure, but it doesn't make it a bad product.
omg Jimmy. "youre cheating on me!" -ONEWHEEL LMAO
Great video Jimmy!
Thanks!
This video pops up as soon as I buy my first OneWheel
Watching this vid makes me want to try out the one wheel. Family man mid 30s wants to have a bit of excitement but always been skeptical of it. Hopefully price point drops. Meanwhile, I'll watch your reviews. Subscribed.
Always great reviews - saving humanity $ and more... onewheel at a time
I don't even care if it's "crap". It's still _competition,_ something this particular segment of personal EVs is sorely lacking.
"Definitely easier to CARVE.." Yup, that kid knows whats Up!
Keep them vids coming Sir =)
You can hear the dirt caught on the tier scraping against the plastic bit in the middle.
yup
@@freshlycharged Good review Jimmy, but... Think of a trotter as EUC in terms of balancing algorithm and try lowering the tyre pressure a bit. Tyre takes more round shape when over inflated and starts rubbing against the foot plates and makes it over correct little balance corrections. That should resolve the jitter issue. I'm 200 lbs running ~ 26 psi and haven't had any jitters on T3. The ones in the video look quite bad. Also if you get the hang of mounting, you can push the board to level like you do with FM onewheel, you don't need to wait for the board to level itself.
Keep up the good content and will be waiting for the KS S20 review :p
Would like to see an update to this. Looks like they have updated the software?
Now for the important question. Can you service and repair the device without having to deal with the manufacturer?
Immediately recognizing Wren's voice...
Seems to me that the platform needs to be offset from the axle so that the platform rides higher.
Should do a video on the jw lawsuit
Do you think there would be interest?
@@freshlycharged you did a video on the wrongful death lawsuits already
@@freshlycharged Most definitely. I'd watch it ad or no ads.
Just the dismount alone is enough to deter Most. Having to hop off everytime i would need to stop for a stop sign or a pedestrian.
@Bean Oak To each's own my friend. I've always been accustomed to stopping like a skateboard.
@@one_point21_gigawatts i can stop my magwheel fine without hopping off. Maybe everyone should I ld actually research rather than watch this bs. Fan boy and take his opinion only
@@up_on_one1151 It definitely does not ride as smooth as a One wheel, its apparant in the video... A second rate product dude- fact.
@@one_point21_gigawatts I've ridden both and hated the xr
@@one_point21_gigawatts he doesn't have it set up right with tire air pressure or anything.
Try getting on the opposite way.Meaning nose down position to mount.
That makes a lot of sense. So the levelling action starts moving you forward, you could actually take off faster than a onewheel.
Or don’t try it at all and pay the extra $400
As an EUC rider, watching a onewheel comparison is like watching kids compare their cosy coupes while I’m sitting in a Tesla. I guess they’re different, but even the poorest performing modern EUC blows the onewheel out of the water. Still, it looks like fun. I wonder why they don’t make one with decent performance (at least a 1750Wh battery and a 2500W motor).
I love my EUCs. Onewheels give a different vibe and are fun in their own way.
I was extremely disappointed in the overall performance. The firmware on a onewheel is definitely far superior.
Not after the updates that crippled it.
Newest One Wheel GT is far superior. In spite of there flaws future motion simply makes a more reliable product.
@@Silver788PDX it's not Superior if you have to send it in every time you want to tire change battery change repair because it's not waterproof.
And I find a product that's not actually owned by you Superior sounds pretty in inferior to me you have to buy a new one wheel GT every time something breaks on it.
Due to the shipping cost not to mention some of the major shipping carriers won't even ship one wheel products anymore because they're so shady.
I mean if you want to be that dumbass that bought fallout 76 or cyberpunk even after it was clear it was a broken product.
@@anarex0929 your need to default to personal insult pretty much invalidates your can opinion that you typed on your iPhone.. just ride your trash board and deal with it. 🤷🏻♂️ I'm happy with my choices and I don't need resort to personal insults to try and validate my point.
I wonder if the difference in how smooth they are is down to motor controllers, like if the magwheel uses squarewave controllers while onewheel uses sinewave ones
I liked subscribed and hit the bell Jimmy Chang!
I actually unsubbed because of this video. Used to love this channel
Ride any EUC like your daughter was on and you'll never want to ride a onewheel again IMO. Faster, smoother, longer range, manages hills better and can carve like crazy with a rounded tire vs squared off. Just my opinion guys!
Agreed but I still want an XR lol
Na, I have 4 euc and an xr...the different stance and feel make the xr always a fun choice. Next euc is the s20 eagle suspension model. And I will still prefer my xr at the beach. 100 times out of 100. You are right about 1 thing...it was YOUR opinion 👌

I choose Onewheel 🤘🏾⚡️🤘🏾😅
Thank you, at least a few of us in here haven’t lost our minds.
LMAO wasnt watching, just listening and suddenly my brain went "Is that Wrens?"
Now that was a very interesting review and comparison. Brave that another company has taken on OneWheel in a bizarre market area. It's different tech to the OneWheel which is awesome with the self levelling before it moves and cool to see the Trotter reinventing the (oh gawd.. its a bad pun..) *one* Wheel 🤣🤣😂😂 Thanks for sharing guys :)
I love bad puns!
Can you please do a teardown video and show us the controller set up on the t3?
Looks like the Trotter is missing what makes riding a Onewheel special - The Float Feeling. And if it is missing it, it's overpriced.
Yep. It’s a POS
@@nyccollin Nah, just different. The trotter feels more like riding a skateboard than the onewheel does. Takes more practice, but once you get it and you learn how to take drops and bumps and whatnot it becomes very easy to ride. You just have to develop the muscle memory.
Who’s watching this after the Floatwheel dropped 😂
homie sounded so disappointed saying "Hes riding a trotter"
Thanks Jimmy
Thank you!
Nike has reebok? REEBOK? For real did I accidentally wake up in 2005 again?
Kidding aside great vid man!
Took me 2 seconds to recognize Wren’s voice
Wren's the best!
I’m just happy to see that it’s cheaper… because in the world of electronic transporting devices electric unicycles electric bicycle electric skateboards etc….. for the same specs across-the-board everything is always been cheaper than one wheel….. better yet if it’s not equal it’s even better than one wheel. You can literally spend less money get more range more speed on anything else.
I got the pint because it’s the latest product from OW but I will definitely buy the newer XR when it comes out because the XR is already more than 3 years old already
I'm trying to decide between the bigger or smaller onewheel. Will be my first one. I'm looking for whichever will be less likely to throw me off. Any recommendations. I live in Colorado and will be doing light trails.
Did anyone notice the street they are riding on at the end and all the cracks. That was a lot of splits in the road and they looked substantial.
Lol. Wasn't expecting Wren in this video. I shouldn't be surprised though. Can't have Wren without a onewheel
Yeah Joe, get it!
Cheap Chinese Copy!
Pls review one after it gets a VESC based controller swap.
Wish we had sub $1,000 options :(

Hey Jimmy and T3 riders, where did you purchase your T3?
I'm living in Toronto and not sure where can I get that. Please educat me. Thanks!
AND you can ride this to IN-N-OUT burger!
Man these things blow compared to an EUC
12:10 - Thought you were going to say "the competition" lol.
Edit: Okay the competition element was mentioned after that. Not that this current thing is going to provide much competition, but still.
I hope someone kicks FM off their lack of innovation, high horse.
With increased battery, safety and power. It should be soon. EUC master race though.
The Trotter sounded like it was grinding something the whole time. It wasn't silent. Was that artifacts from recording or is there a noticeable sound coming from it?
I wonder if they have all the bugs worked out? Maybe I bit more fine tuning.
Hell no they don’t. It needs a hell of a lot more than fine tuning
Great video Jimmy!
I ordered my One wheel Gt last week.
I won't receive it until March 21 is what they are saying.
I will be excited when I see it!
