The air vents are real. Apple put the power supply into the case and there are 2 fans that can vent heat from the power supply, if needed. But it happens only when it gets hot (they usually don't turn on).

I stick an air filter in the bottom for the air intake and after a year it’s full with dust, really recommended because the display can’t be opened

Ah, makes sense. Yeah I’ve never heard them turn on before, but good to know they exist just in case
