Guys who knows is anti-lag system safe stuff for these supras particularly b58 equipped ones ? I'm councious that lag is almost unnoticeable considering how good are modern turbos but even though for example some folks are looking forward to install one in these supras will it harm them on stock rotating assembly?

So, my local performance mechanic warned me about the JB4 when I inquired about turning my 21 supra. He had at least 4 mk5's with blown engines due to people using the preset tunes that come with unit, apparently some of them are a little too aggressive out of the box, so please be careful about using this option. Currently the FEMTO unlock is around 5 thousand bucks and sending your ecu to Finland and back while my car sits dead is a lot to ask for. So, for me, I'm being patient. It is only a matter of time until more companies figure out how to break the encryption on the ecu, which will, in turn, reduce the cost. Just have to avoid software updates and the dealership and wait. Nothing is better for reliable performance than a professional tune done in tandem with the proper parts.
@homiefizzle5260 no idea, but people forget no two cars off the line are truly identical, and the Mk5 is not the exception. Some of the B58's have been reporting an issue with burning oil is a great example. Some are fine, and some have the issue. The JB4 is a budget option, and sometimes, you get what you pay for. Car modifications are always somewhat of a gamble and can have unsceen or unintended effects. A good mechanic and quality parts can help mediate the risks, but remember, there's no guarantee in the car modification world.
@@homiefizzle5260 its not really a weak point if your afr is fucked any engine could blow my v4 panigale on ducati own own race map that comes with race kit is super reliable i already ran 3 racing weekends and countless trackday on it and it never failed a beat not even once while some of my friend on the t800 up map piggy back have there warranty voided and engine issue during race weekend and trackdays so back to cars the jb4 is piggy back and piggy back are always inferior to actual custom tuning since there just sending fake signal for the main ecu to calibrate and compensate for but the problem is new ecu are smart they may not calculate the lies you feeding them like how you want them to and that may cause damage down the line a proper unlock ecu where the calibration calculation of the engine eci is not based on lie to trick it but on proper target to calibrate will awlays be better there a reason why race cars/bikes run on proper standalone ecu like motec.

I'd love for it to happen, but unfortunately I just don't see it anything more than speculated rumors. Will probably get the updated B58tu2 that's currently in some of their 7 series cars.

Femto does full unlock now with BM3, mhd and mg tuning. Bm3 also has updated gen 2 release now... anti lag, flex fuel, map switching, etc... For all gen 2

All factory ECUs come locked. JB4 is the same as any other “plug and play” tune that piggybacks the ECU you can just modify parameters. No different than any other car, BMW has been using JB4 since before they knew they were gunna build another Supra you have to do
Back in my day, all my 500hp R33 Skylines (owned 3 of them, forged pistons, huge turbo) had twin dump exhausts, external gate, screamer pipe, do people still do this? Sold my last 33 in 2012..
Mazda is having the same issue. Apparently COBB is having an extremely hard time cracking the ecu in the new turbo mazda 3 so it can use the accessport. Why cant they juat let us have fun and enjoy tuning our cars??

Jb4 is crap. I have been to many performances shops that mainly work on BMW’s JB4 will damage your engine. Seen a few guys blow up motors using it. If you go off the shelf tune just use MHD it’s way better.

Youd think aftermarket companies & the manufacturers themselves would realize that this is bad for everyone. If you cant modify a car, theres less passionate peopled interested in cars. How exactly did the engines blow? The B58 is pretty stout, so keen to hear what weak point these tunes found.

Back in the early/mid 2000s when we first started boosting the e36 we'd swap out obd2 for obd1 cause 2 hadn't been unlocked yet.

Plenty of people making 470-480 rwhp on just a dp and JB4 (map 6 on E30). Easy low 11 sec 1/4 at 124-126 mph. Many have done it, and it's cheap :)
At this point, think I’d rather just strip the factory ECU out and go standalone. Sounds like it would remove so many headaches and hurdles.
