i live in france too. But obviously french is just right across the channel to the UK, and you guys learn british english. If you guys learn about comics, it will obviously be british ones. But ask your french friends and see how many UK comedians they know in contrast to american comedians, because i know for a fact that american celebrities are much more popular among the youth in france.

well by definition, that is a biased opinion. i don't believe brits have the best sense of humor, but i believe that my favorite comedians are british. but if you say most people would agree, then that means that, in your eyes, most people think that they are the funniest. that does not mean it is an absolute truth. i do agree though, that i enjoy british humor

well i am american (I live in france though) but it depends, e.g. british comedy FILMS, i absolutely can't stand. Censorship counts too, you guys can air some pretty offensive (hilarious) stuff. We can't. After living in France though, i am admittedly a teeny bit of a nationalist. I do love my country's society :] I suppose its the cultural divide that makes our comedies rather incompatible. however, check out american comedians like Demetri Martin and Mike Birbiglia. I find them great.
