Kovil Puliyodharai / Temple style Puliyodharai / Iyengar style Puliyodharai / Tamarind Rice

The Puliyodharai served in the temples have a unique taste and flavor. This recipe is also commonly being referred as Iyengar Puliyodharai. It tastes divine, may be we are tasting in small quantity that too in the temple. The method of making Temple style puliyodharai is slightly different from our normal Puliyodharai.

Just made it exactly how you have shown. Letting it cool down. I made one little change instead of 1.5 tsp salt added only 1/2 tsp salt due to low sodium diet. Thank you so much for the easy turn by turn instructions. Came out so good.

We can keep the pulikachal(gravy) in air-tight container and refrigerate. It will be very good for a week. We can heat up 3-4 tbsp sesame oil and add it as top layer to the gravy and it will increase the shelf life to even 1 month. 🙏🙏🙏
