It's nice to see this issue finally addressed on youtube as it is a common problem. I've owned a few squarebodys and after a few years they get loose.
I installed the first piece (little button with the teardrop shape) upside down. I could not get the roll pin to go in. Came back inside to good old youtube and watched you to it the right way and changed mine over. Works great now. (1990 Suburban) Thanks for the video.
Glad it could help
I have an 88 B350 Ram van that was broken into, and the stereo was stolen. The thieves broke the vent window latch. Thanks so much for showing me how to change it! You're great.
Great video, Thanks !!👍👍
Great job it helps me!
Nice video.
Fixin to do the same to my 82 GMC and tge rubber.. thanks
My passenger side latch is all loose and worn out, causing a lot of wind noise. Are these new latches closing the vent windows tight enough to fix that? My gaskets still look reasonable. Thanks for showing me how these latches go together!
I would assume so as long as the frame is good it tightens against. It only comes as a kit and was $20 so worth replacing it all while doing it.
Dominick Damato thanks, that's what I thought as well. I'm from the Netherlands (Europe) so there is always a lot of shipping cost involved with every parts order, but thats the price you pay for driving an American car over here I guess ;-)
I just got the same kit for my semi truck....it all seems right but did you use every piece in the kit or have some extra parts? The old ones i took off are different so i cant match it up.
There were doubles of the gaskets and washers.
I'm tinting one of these in two weeks. What's the tool you used to get the pin out? Where do you get them at? Have you ever taking the vent window off the door itself?
It's a punch, Amazon is easiest. And no not yet, the vent window is a bit complicated to remove. There are videos out there on it
I ordered the part but it does not come with instructions and looks like it has extra parts, probably a universal package. The seller told me I'm on my own to figure out how it all goes together which brought me here. Mine came with a few rubber washers and 2 springs ( probably for different applications)
Hopefully this helps you figure out what you need for your application
Dose the wavey spring washer rub on your window tint?
I don't think it turns I think it just applies tension
I believe it rests against the black plastic washer that is secured by the pot metal piece/torx bolt.
Take er easy on the window tint bud
HAHAH! It's always the passenger one because it's used less maybe. Or it's operated by non Squarebody believers.
