Pretty standard oil change. No fussy procedures needed. That's good. If you could lift it no reason the owner couldn't do it themselves. I'm all for user serviceability
Easy way to lift the C8 for an oil change: Get an inflatable jack (Harbor Freight like $90), and 16 2x8's, 11-12" long (Home D will cut 'em $1 a cut). Jack up each corner at the jacking puck, put 4 2x8's under each wheel, do the rears first & have chocks under the front wheels. You can do the rears only, but I like the car level for draining. The inflatable jack is a blast to use and so easy! I have a Quick Jack but dragging out the ramps & hooking the hoses up is a big pain, I will use it if I'm removing the wheels...
Bugs me his didn't use a torque wrench or show he replaced gasket on the dip stick. BTW Ferrari, Lamborghini, and most other dry-sump oil system cars require the engine to be running to check for the proper oil level. The cool thing is there is only one drain plug.
When Phil begins adding oil to the C8, have him start by adding 7.5 instead of only 7. That way the engine is not running low (Needing more) while it warms up to operating temperature. Also, make sure he resets the oil life indicator.
You can't see anything in the filter by just looking down inside it. To see if there are any shavings, the filter needs to be cut open and the element stretched flat. The metal is between the pleats.
Shine a flashlight in the filter; the oil at the bottom will look like metallic paint...fair amount of wear as the rings seat into the cylinders...changed mine at 1350, will go for the free dealer change at 7k, along with tranny filter. FYI, have 8 quarts on hand, takes almost 8 to get near the full line (bottle are quarts, not liters)...

I don’t know if anyone else caught this, but as the oil was draining, Phil simply dropped the drain plug into the old dirty oil. Then later when he was to put the drain plug back in, he took it out of the dirty oil and without even wiping it off, reinserted it back in the car. Isn’t there a new washer to be used on the drain plug? And as someone else said, to find metal shavings in the oil filter, the filter needs to be cut open and examined between the pleats of the filter. Lastly, when I do my oil changes I fill to just below the FULL mark.
I read that the double clutch transmission will require a filter and fluid change more often than a regular automatic. Would you know the maintenance schedule of the C8 transmission and show the fluid/filter change in a future vlog?
The GM maintenance manual would certainly have this information. If you don't believe that, email Tremec. I am sure they can fill you in on any info that you believe GM may have missed.
Thanks for the informative vlog. One question, if Torch Red is your favorite color, why did you choose ceramic gray metallic. Choosing the color combination for me is the most difficult decision for my spec.

Good video. Do you happen to know if owners will be able to change their own oil on the hardtop convertible since access to the top of the engine may be difficult?
Informative video! Thanks. Considering getting a 2021 or 2022 Stingray so it was interesting to see the underside. I’ve got a massive speed bump in my driveway. Why did GM cut holes for the drain plug and filter? They should have made you remove the panels. I think those holes are causing excess wind drag at 135MPH.
I think the utility was prioritizing that. Keep in mind this is the base model and there will be more performance models out there that will have a bigger focus on areo dynamics
The last time I took my corvette to a chevrolet dealership they didn't report it to carfax I'm constantly getting emails from them about not servicing my car they didn't reset the oil change either

Priming the filter is the point one liter. :-)
7.5 quarts. Like how much oil it holds. More the better.
The LS Holley oil pans hold 6+ quarts
Dry sump systems are known for the large amount of oil they contain. Some aftermarket systems (ARE comes to mind) can hold as much as 20 quarts.
