Thank you so much for posting this. I just joined the Corvette family and loved this comparison. I had the questions in my head as to how much of a difference launch made and you put out the data. Awesome!
Thanks... that's the best review I have seen on the various modes. I didn't realize there were that make options and combinations available or that there were two different timer options. It's like... hardly anyone reads their manual anymore.
I second all his data. My C8 Z51 consistently hits 60 under the 3 second mark. It will also continue to rocket much faster if pressed. Lastly, the 30mpg is outstanding when cruising the highway 😊
It sure looks like launch control is a great feature for drag strip racing. However for other uses it would be sufficiently good to floor the gas pedal.
@@williammora88 Yes I know, but only in USA. Usually American magazines usually overstating the Corvette always (notably Car & Driver), cuz they love prompting their stuff. See European test times, not even close for those claims.

Hi Robert, in a recent video made by ThrottleHouse, the Porsche 911 (not the turbo) beat the Corvette in a straight line sprint. I was shocked because that Porsche is technically slower in 0 to 60 (per their own website) and also has less horse power. I displayed my shock in the comments and was replied to by someone who insisted that Chevy markets lower 0-60 times which are false, and that the internal car timer doesn't measure the true 0 to 60 time. If its not that (which hopefully is false) then what is it - is Porsche under-selling themselves? I'm confused. Also, i'm a big corvette fan and bought a c7 Grand sport after consulting with you via email. You were kind enough to reply. 2 years ago. Thanks
That's awesome 👍🏻 I remember our conversation. I saw that video by Throttle House as well. I believe one of two things happened. Either they were not launching the C8 correctly, or it just happened to spin in the one run that they attempted. Chevy, most auto magazines, and other auto manufacturers do adjust their 0-60 times by deducting "rollout" which essentially doesn't start the timer until the car has moved 1 foot I believe. With that being said, the C8 should be faster than that Porsche model with the same testing methods used. Motor Trend and Car and Driver both did their own independent testing on the C8 as well as the Carrera S, and the C8s times were faster to 60 and quarter mile. Check out the links below. I'm really not sure how Throttle House got the results they did, but it seems inaccurate to me. This is a direct quote by Motor Trend. "Much of the credit is due to the quick-shifting eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Big takeaway: We've yet to test a quicker naturally aspirated, rear-drive production car to 60 mph, price be damned. The C8 did great in the quarter mile, too, covering 1,320 feet in 11.1 seconds at 123.2 mph. That beats the direct competitor Porsche 911 Carrera S by 0.1 second. A win, however, is a win; the Corvette is quicker than the Porsche." (on street and stock tires) I believe for Z51 it's under warranty if you take it to a drag strip, but I still don't want to break it or put too much wear/ tear into it. Wondering if any Z51 had problems doing launches every weekend and if I should cut down since I heard there are other DCT probelms other than doing launches.
The base C8 Z51 performance makes me question if the Eray is worth the extra money(30-40k depending on options) for that all weather hook up/consistency… The ZO6 widebody looks are still pulling at my heartstrings over the base C8 BUT…that’s the price of another performance car for yes…quicker than ZO6 performance but still…
