    LESSON 2: • Understanding CORRECT ...
LESSON 3: • FIX Hip Turn in the Go...
I went for a lesson playas. I needed to sort out some things that had been on my mind. I want to
    - stop humping the ball
    - stop swaying all over the place (some sway is normal, but not what I was doing)
    - remove pain from my body after golf. I often peel myself out of bed in the morning after golf from pain on my right lower, middle and upper back into my neck.
    - make impact IMPACTFUL and not a lottery by using my hands to miraculously square the face
    - have more fun again on the golf course instead of being the scrambling man on default setting

There are many ways to fix many problems. Eric is a retired golf pro who helped me out with a few lessons. The main thing I found with Eric was I trusted him and I liked the way he talked. That is enough to seal th deal to believe in the coach.
He learnt how I learned and then he adapted the lessons an the progression to me.
Whether or not we all agree on anything in the swing is not important. What is important is that correct impact is generic. Between address and impact, there are millions of ways to get the club back and back to the ball square.
I want to find my way of doing it the easiest. This is not a swing rebuild. This is me learning WHAT IT MEANS TO HIT THE GOLF BALL PROPERLY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE.
I didn't have resources when i was younger to go for pro coaching. Now I do so I am taking advantage of that. I want to show you how it works when you get coaching and I hope someone out there may change their whole game and stop listening to their friends advice.
I hope someone out there will stop watching GENERIC youtube SWING mechanic advice and go see a pro if they are struggling. I was struggling with pain and struggling with impact because I KNOW the way I play golf relies on too much timing of the hands.
If anyone believes taking lessons takes the game too seriously and that this is not in line with the theme of the channel, well you didn't understand the Way of the Playa and the channel at all and it's time to move along.
Anyone who wants to get lessons, MUST. And anyone who thinks they can do it on their own, good luck. If you're in pain, can't get the ball airborne, miss the target BIG left and then BIG right all the time, or on the verge of quitting the game due to swing problems...go see a coach and LISTEN. And PRACTICE what they tell you. Listen clearly no ego. If you take ego and purposefully misunderstand the coach and twist what the coach has told yuo, in some self sabotaging way to prove to yourself it doesn't work, IT WON'T WORK. Listen clearly, gain FULL understanding and then check with the coach to make sure you are correctly doing it.
You can LEAP FROG your progress 6 months, 1 year, 2 years by seeing someone who knows instead of doing it yourself and struggling and creating more problems.
There are another 2 lessons coming up with all rounds in between the lessons on display on the channel.

You’ve changed my life Matt. I was a 14 handicap who never broke 80 5 years ago. I gave up the game 3 years ago because I was getting so frustrated that golf wasn’t fun. I started playing again in May off of a 17.4 handicap. Found your channel and now in October I am a 8.8 handicap and shot my personal best 74 last weekend with a -1 back nine. Now I’m back out there playing as much as I can all because of your videos.

Literally had this exact same problem with my swing and I spent nearly two years trying to analyze and fix it on my own. Then some guy at a public range came over and told me that I just need to stop swaying and five minutes later I was striking it pure as hell. If only he could teach me how to putt though.

You don’t want the huge movement of the ball that i was doing which set off a chain of events that did the damage thereafter. Ideally you’ll probably need to turn plus a slight bump to the left on the downswing

Since COVID-19 restrictions hit they lost some of their technological aides like the motion tracking system, but still have plenty of value for the cost.

Just got back from the range and had to share that Eric Chong and your lesson vids are a game changer. I started the range session slow with just chips and worked my way up in speed and club length. By the time I got to the driver, I had never hit my clubs as straight and long EVER!!! The guy I work with also has a UA-cam channel, one time early on I told him I was trying to do one of the drills from one of his videos he said “Don’t that lesson doesn’t apply to you”. And therein is why we seek professional help, we are not capable of self diagnosis. I also have learned the lesson that feel is not real and video of swing is the only way to confirm reality.

I started to loose my Ball striking ability over 3 to 4 weeks, while on Holiday I filmed my swing and was horrified. My movement off the ball was terrible. I checked a few things on my Simulator when I returned home, and most of my shots were out to in Plane with a closed face. So back to basics, my Grip had changed and was really strong, so that was first change, then had to work the Plane problem out, at first I was looking at my lower body movement and trying to get less head movement, but it turned out that my hands and arms had got higher. Once I had lowered my hands I was able to turn and swing more easily and started to get the Ball striking back, mostly on Plane and hitting better shaped shots mostly on Plane also gained distance, with very little effort. Lots to work on with lots of practice but it was nice to feel like when I was at my peak again after so many years

Love it. I think I've got very similar issues to you. Funny enough, I discovered that chip-pitch-punch technique on my own while practicing pitching, and I realized rotating through the pitch shot made everything so easy. Sometimes I can take that feeling into a longer pitch shot and sometimes almost to a full swing, but just knowing that feeling has made me think I'm onto something. I was pleasantly surprised to see the coach advocate exactly that.
Also, seeing a whole lesson like this is so underrated. The short swing tip videos, or even longer ones that focus on one key movement or one muscle, seem helpful at first but I find that you really need the context of an existing swing and seeing problems being worked on for that swing. Now, all those things won't apply to your own swing, but seeing a problem, and seeing how it gets fixed teaches you so much more than those isolated swing tips. In my opinion. :)
    Awesome video as always!

I went from a 6.7 handicap just looking for a little distance to a 17 handicap after they “helped me” I heard Hank Haney say once that if you are taking lessons you should be better after the fist lesson and only improve from there, so I stopped going to GolfTec and it took an entire season to fix what they did. Finally a lesson with exercises to cure the same issues I have in my golf swing! I play a 14hcp and after many lessons with local pros I still struggle with the sway, the flipping, humping, etc. Amazing vid!

Lesson I take from this is that everybody (even the Baus) needs a swing tune-up now and again. It was very interesting to see how well you reacted to the lesson, and sometime's see the pieces of the puzzle drop in the right place !

Hey Matt, thank you for posting this video.
I've just started golfing this year and have been struggling with consistent impact with my clubs, culminating in a worst ever game this weekend where I missed the ball more often than I hit it and wound up losing a dozen balls. I see a lot of similarity between your swing and mine, except you have the experience and coordination to account for it and I don't. I have the same issue with pain after a game as well. I've picked up a few things from this video to practice at the range this off-season and will be taking some lessons where I can find the time. I'm hoping to come into next season with enough practice that I can stop concentrating on my swing and start concentrating on my shot. Hoping I can end next season by breaking into the mid-handicaps, if I can't do that I'd at least like to end the frustration of missing the ball. Thanks for the help and inspiration!

Hey bro, don't wait to go to get a lesson - especially if you are having pain. You won't do your self any favors other than create bad habits if you keep at it this way... Cheers and good luck.

@@drumguitar3135 Unfortunately where I live instruction is fairly spotty during the long cold off-season. I'm going to try a couple at our local indoor range to see how good it is, but otherwise you're mainly limited to the summer

Man, what a GREAT lesson. Matt, you've found THE MAN. Eric is so straight forward without being pushy. So easy to listen to and communicate with. I've taken lessons from "pros" that think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but Eric is so down to earth. Enjoy the "journey" my friend. The "pot of gold" is at the end

I went not too long ago for some lessons with a pro, and I can't believe how similar your problems are to mine. Only my issues were more exaggerated, lack of rotation, flipping the wrists, releasing too soon, early hip extension all resulting in some hip and lower back pain and inconsistent shots. It's not nice to realise just how wrong your swing is, but I had to face up to it.
Adapting to the new correct swing took a lot of getting used to at first. You can practice down the range and get it right, then a week later you go out for a round and the bad habits start to creek back in. I found you have to be practicing drills all the time because you're essentially trying to make the movements habitual and fighting off old habits. I found practicing drills every night in front of the mirror before bed helped a lot.
Now I dont want to be the weekend hacker that's giving out swing tips, but this was my experience and I think the lessons and the drills have paid off, because I feel much more confident now on the course. It's still a work in progress though.
There was one thing he did say which stood in my mind, and that's after I said the term 'practice makes perfect', he corrected me and said 'no, practice makes permanent'. And that's so true, if you practice the WRONG movements you end up learning bad habits, practice the RIGHT movements and end up with good habits and a consistent confident swing.

Went to a Pro coach earlier this year and this is the exact same thing he told me to work on. And my ball striking and tempo have improved so much that I broke 40 for nine holes shooting a 39 for the first time. Unfortunately I lost focus on the back 9 and shot a 48. Getting a lesson from a pro is the best invest one can make in ones game.

Was going to buy a new bag of clubs putter to driver spare no expense. I had saved diligently and thought, "I deserve this!" Then, on a whim I bought a few lessons from my local club pro. His immediate feedback, "you're sliding forward and your club can't catch up." EUREKA!!! Blocks, almost gone! Push slices, bye bye! Snap hooks, BEAT IT! It is a work in progress but needless to say I no longer feel like I need a whole bag of new clubs. I feel WAY more in control now and my distances have exploded given better contact.
Kudos to you playa for putting in the work!

I had a very similar issue. I couldnt differentiate getting my weight toward the lead foot on the downswing with allowing my head to get forward too. For me the difference maker was focusing on right side bend. It felt super weird, but when an instructor showed me my video my head was right where it needed to be. Good luck though Playa. Can’t wait to see this swing on the course.
