This is the most beneficial golf advice I've ever gotten. I watched this video, and went to the range an hour later. Doing this completely changed everything for the better! Everything improved 100%. Thank you for posting this video!!!
A little story that really pretty much directly relates to this, so I'm pretty young in this story I think 13-14 and me and my dad go golfing. Now I have only been a few times before so I'm still very noob and trying to figure everything out. My thinking was the harder I swing the better the ball is gonna go so every drive I would try to crush it and every time it would just barely dribble off or maybe go like 50 yards or maybe I sort of got good contact but it was so far off target and even then only would go like 80 yards at most. At this point I was very frustrated and just wanted to go home and so on this one drive I told myself I'm just barely gonna swing cause I'm so over it and I did and it freaking LAUNCHED off my driver!! I was absolutely blown away and completely mind tripped out and couldn't believe that I barely swung and it went 10000x further and straight then any other drive!! That day changed my life hahaha thought I would share I know it was long sorry lol
Fantastic story Jeff! So many stories like this and the brain just has such a hard time accepting that when you remove the effort, the power goes away; and it is so much the opposite! 😀👍
The biggest improvement to my game after I watched the Women's Open on TV. Women, smaller than me were hitting the ball 295 yards. I watched and copied their slow swing and full follow through. Over the next month I put more than 25 yards on my average drive with a 5 wood, to about 215 yards. I was 68 at the time.
Even when you watch male Pros on the PGA Tour (live not on tv) their swings are almost in super-slow-mo. I saw Ernie playing at the Canadian Open in 2016 and i swear you could eat a whole sandwich in the time it took him to swing his driver. Effortless power. Uncanny
Tried this "gentle" feel on the range. Got a few good ones with the best feel of perfect acceleration at impact. Haven't felt that for a long time. Then played at my club the next day. My drives were right down the middle with very good distance. Driver, 3-wood, rescue, irons. All good. amazing! Thank you Shawn and gang...BTW...I'm also a lefty and I gotta say...it's fun watching 2 young folks doing the demo as lefties! Pretty cool!
This is just genius - I've been taking lessons for years and have never seen any teacher approach the swing in this way. This completely declutters the brain and allows focus on throwing the club toward the target. As mentioned the effort level is controllable - as if you are throwing a bucket or some other item - how far you want to throw is a function of effort, so throwing it a few feet or maxing it out essentially depends on how hard you want to hit the ball (on in this case how far you want to throw the club). When I first saw this video I didn't believe it. So I went to my golf course (late in the evening) and hit two balls on every long shot - one with my regular swing and one with Shawn's throwing technique. In almost every single case the ball not only went longer, it was also much more in line with my target. The key is that this thought process (full controlled backswing to the throwing of the club) basically allows a much more natural swing and corrects many flaws that are built up over time. Simply amazing. Thank you Shawn.
THERE WE GO! This struck home because you actually went out and did the due diligence and you are now going to reap the benefits of your incredible human anatomy forever! Kudos to your ability to LISTEN and DIGEST and APPLY. 👌💪🤘👍😀
I was told as at some point that the golf swing was a throw. It made sense on short game a bit, but this video really put things together. Humans like to re-engineer things and it screws us all up.
This is awesome! I've messed around with my swing so much at the range and have hit absolute bombs with 40-50% effort. So much of the power comes from technique, mechanics and proper function of the club.
Mr Clement. I’ve played for 4 years and tried every swing on the internet, none which ever stuck, however I did this during today’s round and I shot my personal best. I’m going to keep working in this to fine tune. I couldn’t believe how easy the swing felt and I’ve never compressed the ball like that. What a feeling and what a fun day. Thanks!!! 🇨🇦
Thank you so much!!! I'm hitting my driver 300yrds plus now..only been playing golf for 6 months, and had a bad baseball swing (from playing for yrs) went from 250 to 300+. Thank u🙏
YOU ALL SHOULD SEE WHERE THIS HAS LED IN THE WORLD LONG DRIVE FOR BOTH SAVY AND MU; SAV IS NOW RANKED #7 IN THE WORLD STANDINGS AND JUST HAD ANOTHER PERSONAL BEST IN THE 2023 INAUGURAL WLD AT 337 YARDS AND WON ONE OF HER SETS FOR THE FIRST TIME AGAINST WORLD #5 GABY POWELL WITH A 322 POKE. I’m 72 watched this video on my way to the course and thought why not. I gained 1 club on length and almost 20 yards on my drives…but the accuracy…seriously. That’s the easiest 1 over par I’ve ever shot. Amazing simply amazing! Thank you so much. I sent this to all my golf buddies.
Shawn....I have to say that just a few of your videos in the past several weeks have cured me of a lifetime of inconsistent woes. In particular...the grip videos including the knife grip one...getting behind the ball and staying behind it through the swing...throwing the club to the target instead of hitting at the ball...the trigger forefinger.....imagining a 175 yard strike with the driver...following the kinematic sequence....and the bonus for me is that I'm a lefty and you have two star lefties on your videos. What more can I ask for? My only regret is that it took this long for me to follow you and now winter is at my doorstep just when I'm playing the best golf of my life!!! Criminey!! :-)
Right on Tom! From this post you just made, you have made it much farther down the rabbit hole than your average golfer; I am very happy for your progress and especially for your path moving forward in evolving in the game! 👌🤘👍💪😀
I just started playing a few months ago. I'm glad I found this video. I went the next day using what you showed. Bring the club back slowly and then just swinging without any force, speed or effort. First time around my friend said I carried it about 250. I said "what". I thought it was less. For me right now 200 would be great. Now, I didn't hit it perfect on all my shots but did better than I had before. Thanks so much. Still so much to learn.
Right on J! We have a fantastic beginner series on the links in the description; highly recommend it to get you up to speed with what we do; it is also on our premium channel if you want to take a deeper dive beyond that. Enjoy!! 😀👍
I tried this out today and I was really impressed with the ease in which I could swing it but not lose distance. Golf really can be a game of opposites at times.
I finally got what this guy was talking about... its just centrifugal force generated by the combination of body rotation as you literally just drop the club head to the ground... i could hit 500 balls and not be tired... no joke.
Yes, what you experience there is the correct engagement of the kinetic chain brought about by an external focus of simply “throwing the club through and out” towards where you want the ball to go! Our premium channel has a great series called “the kinetic chain series” which shows this action exists from chipping and long putts to driving the ball.
Yes, this seems hard to believe because our brains associate power to effort; here is another testimonial from another student who just went out and tried it: Dear Shawn I have struggled with my driving for 8 years. I could not hit more than 220 yards and have seen many instructors with nothing working. I watched your video gently drive your golf ball 300 yards, went to the practise ground with my children to pick the balls up after my shots and it worked !. Thank you ever so much. Your other videos are first class too. Stuart (Scotland)
All of Shawn’s videos deserve thousands of more likes. Quit being lazy people and support the amount of passion he puts into these videos. Keep up the great work guys!
I love your videos! I have been playing golf for a lot of years; I have never seen or heard an easier-to-understand method to get the most out of one's swing!
Simply awesome video. Power always come easy if you swing fast but not hard. Swinging not hitting. I loved this video. Would love to see you take a senior player 65 to 75 years old and do a before and after for swing speed and distance. All 3 of you are very athletic. But I’ll bet this one lesson could really help seniors play so much better.
Thank you Glenn! Absolutely!! We have a great senior series on 2 platforms right now; one on the new Retrieve platform that you will see in the description for just $9.95 one time purchase and the same one included as part of our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com with over 400 videos and series with my life’s work for just $9.95 per month.
Glenn I'm 68 and this makes sense to me. My drives now are around 220. I'll let you know if it works for me. I never thought of it this way but I've always noticed my best drives are the ones that feel effortless.
@@michaelvazquez2234 Range of motion is the key; huge backswing and huge finish and try these numbers: 2 out 10 effort to get 8 out of 10 velocity and compression. Also, you need to see all our “throwing the club shawn clement” videos! Be safe!
@@golflessons I only see a 9.95 package as a one-off purchase. If I did take a monthly what are the rules for ending the subscription? I don't want to be stuck in a program I don't use after the first few weeks.
@@channelofglory7738 shawn you're a really good instructor and I love watching your videos but 300 yards...the average pga driving distance in 2019 was 293.8 yards. That is ample proof that you really need to be a professional to achieve an average of 300 yards..don't you think?
@@underthecortex point well taken. The only caveat being that proclaiming that a 300 yard drive is easily doable...implies it's on the fairway. I doubt anyone views UA-cam videos to learn to drive 300 yards in a simulator. A more accurate objective would be to optimize your driving abilities. Wouldn't you agree? Having said that I do want to clarify that I respect Shawn Clement so this isn't personal. I just know that for an amateur or a weekend golfer to drive 300 yards is almost near impossible. The video header reads...gently drive 300 yards...and I understand that it is to draw viewers but still...
@@sensa123 Clubs on simulators sometimes go farther than in real life. Last time I used a sim it said my 7 iron was going 190. In real life my 7 iron goes 175 on avg. You put me on a par 3 that's 190 yards I'm hitting 6 iron or a soft 5 depending on circumstances. Distance doesn't make you great at golf. I avg probably 285 yrd drives (with a taylormade original one mini driver and occasional 5 wood when I wana hit it 240-250) but I don't have as good of a recovery game as a pro lol. I can also make 3 foot par saves all day long, but the chances I drain a 20 foot birdie aren't good. Also course conditions/outside temp and balls you use make a HUGE difference in distance. If you use some beat up ball that's essentially a glorified range ball you WILL lose 15 yards compared to a new/great condition prov1 on avg.
Hi Great principle, Old time golf commentator and outstanding golfer in his day Peter Allis, was on BBC TV instructing a beginner who kept reaching for for his yardage book. Allis simply said ‘Use your eyes and let your brain work it out. Then promptly, from 150 yds put 13 golf balls on the green!! (He didnt use the putter!). Everything from P wedge to driver!!!
This is what I enjoy most about your content. Real drills done by real golfers with their own performance targets just like me. Thanks for making things simple with an explanation that helps me understand what I'm supposed to be feeling instead of just throwing it out there and letting me try to figure out what it all means. Big fan of you, Sev, and Big Mu. keep it up!
I just stumbled onto your channel and I have to say that I have to pick my jaw up off the ground after watching. I couldn’t believe how far your daughter was hitting it with such an easy swing. I go out and hammered ball after ball and I can only get my swing speed up to 90 mph and hit them 220 yards. I will definitely be watching more videos. It makes me believe that it may be possible to hit 250+ yrd drive

I am looking forward for spring so I can see how my distance has improved after hitting into a net in the garage over the winter. It's is an awesome swing he teaches and I always love when he has time to respond back and he will direct folks to a few videos to go over the process. I wish I could wrap my brain around this swing overall. I know it works and can do it for a day and the next day I forget a weeks work of grass whipping(yes I own the wisdom golf one). Then I'm lost in a middle of the round hooking em left and slicing right trying to ball position and grip my way through the round, just to get off the course. Then fed up, go back to my older swing for a bit, till I find my way back here..ding sound bell.. I know a lot of sharing here. One of these I days I hope to wake up and have the full throw from the top down clement swing, and take it for an easy long drive like these guys and gals in the video!

I've been playing golf for nearly 40 years now and have a handicap of 8. I have watched this particular drive by Sav over and over again. I find it hard to believe she really reached swing speed of 96 mph and carried 240 yds on this effortless swing. I've been to several LPGA tournaments and watched top female golfers around the world swing their drivers. They all swing harder than Sav's 175 yd swing to carry 240 yds which is about LPGA tour average.
Yes, exactly! That is what we are saying here! When the kinetic chain of a human machine kicks in with FULL RANGE OF MOTION it is unstoppable. She played a men’s tourney this weekend, a pro event as an amateur, and outdrove all her playing competitors averaging 280 off the tee. Her competitive speed is 105 with ease. The guys were really enjoying watching her swing!
I really liked this video and am already following it. Giving very good results in terms of accuracy. A few yards short but not much. And totally strain free.
I can attest to this effortless swing , as I discovered myself switching from the senior T’s to the white T’s on e day , I swung with less effort and I out drove my usual senior t shots by 20 to 40 yards and with more accuracy, but I didn’t stick with it long as I fell into the old habits!!! As John Daily says swing effortlessly! It works!
Range of motion with momentum delivered into the direction of flight is the key; not force into the ball which is the biggest waste of energy…keep going! 😀👍👌👊🫶
I would like to say that while my swing technically is no where near what you teach, this is a great video. Dialing back had me hitting the ball longer and straighter than ever. Thank you.
I tried this today and it actually worked for me . Amazing . Thankyou for sharing I don’t quite have the same swing as savy but I tried to emulate it . If you ever come to Bermuda please let us know . Be great to meet you and get a lesson ⛳️😃
Idk why I never saw this video before. Can’t hit 300 yet….but The Ability and ease of loading the shaft taking a wider easy swing was unreal and the numbers didn’t lie. This video has truly helped improve My ball striking and accuracy hitting off a tee. Even with out a tee it has made a huge difference. Wish I could have seen this video sooner haha.
I've been trying to push speed the past few months and this is really eye opening. I'd just keep throwing effort and strength at the problem which has just led to a wild dispersion. I can't wait to pick up a driver and try this out ASAP
Watch Kyle Berkshire. He is swinging hard but if you look at the lag he creates from his flexibility, you can see all he's doing is taking a swing like what's being taught here and just ramping up the intensity. He shot 74 or so at a course in the cold, damp conditions from the tips at 8200yds.
Shawn, I couldn't wait to put this into my swing pratice. Working with only my 6 iron it was amazing how effective this was for taming my line. Thanks.
Yes! Agreed! She had her personal best drive at 327 yards to make the top 4 in the Pro Long Drive in Utah this summer; was never out of the top 8 in all 4 events she entered!
Nice going! Very cool how our kinetic chain is magically activated when on the proper task and when given the opportunity through full range of motion while keeping things chill. This is why golf is a true meditation for me.
"Feeling" like you are swinging 50% is absolutely the key, and that's with all clubs on a full shot. You start making beautiful contact and crush it. Once you get that 50% feel down and it feels relaxed, you can start adding a littler speed, but I ALWAYS try to employ that super relaxed 50% swing feel on my full shots.
This is so awesome, went to the simulator trying to swing hard like Bryson and yes I was increasing distance club head speed and ball speed but with ten out of ten in effort, after watching this I went today and I try to swing like Sav and just by throwing the club with 0 effort I was 250 right down the middle with a baby draw, now I know I can put a little more effort and get it further, thanks Shawn I wish I could get a lesson in person with you I am the one in charges of the pro shop and the lessons here at Saint-Pacôme golf club and I hope to see you one day at our club or at Royal Quebec
Her flexibility allows her to generate a lot of clubhead speed at impact with a very relaxed swing style. Think it's time I work on losing weight and adding flexibility to myself. I'd like to lower my effort and still keep a 300yd drive. I used to do that drill swinging from the club head. The sound position tells you where you're fastest speed is at. You want that sound around the ball.
I’m an ex javelin thrower that did a lot, of analysis on Olympic athletes. The second this guy mentioned kinetic chain, I knew this we going to be good.
We have two tremendous series on our premium channel called “kinetic chain series” and “kinetic chain facilitation series” as well as the “pre-motor cortex series” to prepare the mind and body to pre-fire into the desired task!
I wouldn't call it a Gentle Swing. I think it's more of a non-hurried swing. Both players are making a nice full shoulder turn and not rushing the downswing. But, the clubhead is accelerating as it is going through the hitting area. So many of us amateurs fall into the trap of trying to hit the ball further by speeding up the whole swing and accelerate too early. Great message from this video. As I am prepping for the golf season here in the northeast I will keep this in mind.
I agree. It's not "gentle" It's *tension free*, with the hands, wrists, arms, especially on the downswing and through the ball. Think Freddie Couples "flow" Most people who can't drive the ball at least 200 yards, are doing the opposite : they get *tighter* with their hands, wrists, arms as they approach the "ball-brick", and actually *slow* down their clubhead The short hitters are equating *effort* with tension applied through the hands, wrists, arms. The golfers in this video, starting with Sean are all making a very strong leg, hip move, which *propels* the soft arms, hands, wrists, and finally the club. Just like a fast baseball pitcher. "Loosey goosey"
@@Rraygino I play the ball forward for all my approach shots. Things change on lies high/low, side angles, sand, flop shots. As long as I'm on a flat surface I play it forward. Hope this helps.
Was playing really windy days lately. I mean 20 mph and I was just throwing all my clubs and even the irons were just high cruise missiles. I wasn’t even doing the full range. Thanks for the insight Shawn and co!
If there weren't so many positive comments here, anyone reading what I'm about to write would probably say that it's a fake one. But here it is anyway. This afternoon, I watched this video and grabbed an old wedge I keep in my apartment. I swung it a few times just like I saw and it felt good. Different. Simple. Natural. I had to go hit balls. So, I jumped in my car and went to the range 20 minutes away. And the very first ball I hit (PW) was "where has this swing been all my life?????" What??? 9, 8, 7 same. I'm 6ft5 and many of my smaller friends outdrive me. My 7 iron usually goes 145m (yes metric. I'm in Mauritius). Today, the green was at 148m and I was hitting old range balls against the wind. With my 7, I was pitching the green, with what felt like no effort at all. In fact whenever I tried to hit it further it didn't feel as good and didn't go as good. Then I deliberately slowed down my backswing and told myself "7 iron, 120m" and boom! 150m at least. If that was with a good ball and no wind, 160m easy. That's 176 yards! My 19 deg hybrid consistently went 200m+. Consistently is the word! Then came the driver. I have rarely hit the driver so sweet with so little effort and so far. Yes, I missed a few, but out of maybe 30 balls, a good 25 down there (fairway for sure if I was playing) and far. My word. I know it will sound cliché but there's no other way to describe this: What you taught me in this video is a complete game changer! I cannot wait to take this out on the course. Thanks a million for this video Shawn. I'll keep you posted on how my first game is on Saturday.🙏 Oh and by the way, I'm 59 years old!
Thank you so much for taking the time to give your precious feedback! Very much the effect this is supposed to give and the blissful rhythmic sensations when the kinetic chain is allowed to engage. We are doing a whole series on this in the coming weeks on our premium channel to take a deeper dive and it can be described as meditative golf that is fun and addictive! 💪👌👍😀
I had a chance to try this out and it really helped. I’m a very new golfer but with seemingly good control. I started in may of 2020 and almost immediately figured out how to be pretty straight and get relatively consistent strike. My problem has been speed and distance. This new thought and approach gained me about 10-15 yds in the air on my 8 iron after about 45 mins of practice. Definitely had some off line shots but soon reigned it in and found my line again. I’m excited to try this out with longer irons and of course my woods. I’m just hoping to add enough length so my approach shots are less effortful. Thank you very much and I will be working at this for the next few weeks until I have a chance to play more often. Cheers :)
Yes!! This is why we put this video out! Congratulations for actually trying it and seeing for yourself how magically this works for any human strong enough to swing a club. Thank you for posting and looking forward to getting more news and benchmarks from you in the future! 😀👍👌💪
Do you have a book talking about less is more or the art of letting go? I think this absolutely needs to be talked about more in sports. If you don’t have a book, any book recommendations?
Got fitted and ordered a new set. Going from kids clubs to a decent set I went from 140 with a 7 to 190 and my driver went from 240 to 290. Clubs you are confortable with and swing motion make a huge difference.
I tried this setup because I always felt like I had maximum effort to hit the ball further. Now, I’m easily driving 250+ consistently and have even hit my 3 wood 240 and 4 iron 217! I’ve never been anywhere close to that previously. They side view completely helps with Sav and Mu’s setup.
right on Whodat! great feedback and very much the consensus of those who fully give it a chance to experience the wonders of the human kinetic chain! Every day, we get up and we find our swings! 👌👍👊🫶

We just got back from the Mexico Open and one of the guys who did well and who lives this video is Cameron Champ! Apart from a couple holes that he lost 6 shots on, he would have won!
@@golflessons Again, this video is really helpful. One thing I continue to struggle with is gaining distance with less than full effort. I find when I try to increase my club head speed I tend to swing faster but do not necessarily gain any distance. I find it remarkable that she is able to carry her drive 240 yards with minimal effort. Clearly I am doing something wrong. Is there anything you could suggest I try?
I just found this channel (havent played in a long time and just started back recently after knee surgery and want to have less risk). I am really liking what I am seeing but unsure of what you mean by letting/not letting the club release. Would you point me to where you explain that please?
Hey Shawn! We only have 900 videos in here since 2006 when it all began! 😝 if you watch one of my favourite oldies but goodies, called “fencing for power shawn clement” you will enjoy the release of the club!
Typically the settings on the units can and are adjusted in order to sell clubs or and give lessons. I know a local Golf Town had one hitting stall set for maximum distance which is the stall everyone was put for hitting demo clubs which helped to sell clubs and the others were used for lessons and resulted in considerably shorter ball carry’s and totals than the demo stalls. The young lady despite a good release and solid shoulder turn wouldn’t carry more than 210-220 in our local real life environment yet is showing 270 carry on the screen. The hosts first slow swing would have been 210 carry max where we are yet his machine shows him 280 carry 300 total on his machine. Would be helpful to let us know environment settings. I have seen 195 mph ball speed get us only 300 carry. As a point of interest, I carried real life locally (sea level Heavy air) 360 which would translate to 400-420 carry Arizona where they used to hold the world long drive finals, yet some machines won’t give me 300 carry because they can’t correctly read a 3.5 degree driver(140mph) launching a ball at 205mph. (When I was younger).
@@thebeardedgolfer9819 we get this comment often and here is the video you want to go watch ua-cam.com/video/ZbQT9x1-tvA/v-deo.html as these distances are completely leggit and are backed by our members who play with Savy and see her prodigious drives. I came back to this video after watching Bryson Dechambeau drives and something doesn't add up when watching these in comparison. I think the lesson is important swing easy to swing straighter and further but there's no way they are out driving him with the difference in swing speeds lol
Applied this at the range today after watching this a few times. I'm LH and was hitting a major draw at the start and then remembered Sav doesn't address the ball head on there is about a 3" gap between ball and club to ensure you're coming up on the ball. Wow. That was the ticket. Thank you for all your well detailed videos. I hit 20 drives, perfectly straight, around 300 yards effortlessly.
Good contact is much more important than swinging hard. There's a teenage girl that is well known in my area for her golf prowess. She doesn't weigh more than 120 lbs, but can hit a drive close to 300 yards and puts men in their athletic prime to shame.
Factory settings! Best machine in the world by far where the VAST MAJORITY OF PGA TOUR players have one and hone their skills around it. You will see them everywhere in the practice rounds of any PGA tour event!
Great video and explanation. I tell my golf buddies just swing 80% and you'll hit it farther than you do trying to kill it. They don't believe me but your video explains exactly why its true.
I didn't have the ability to slow my roll down to 4 out of 10, but I eased everything down to about 60% (as slow as I could go without getting yippy) and I was roping 220 draws right down the middle. After about 20 minutes I was putting on a smoke show. I don't know if this is repeatable, but I am definitely going to start my range practice and pre-round warmups like this and see if I can get to where I was today. Normally I drive around 240 to 260 and I was flying range balls 280 today. At the risk of sounding like a corny UA-cam fan-boy, I swear when I got in the groove that it almost felt like I was throwing the club head through the golf ball. The next step will be to add the mustard back in without introducing some of the right block that I'm trying to cure. That aside, this technique does provide distance without extra effort.
Right on Darren! You just got your first taste of what happens when the kinetic chain (human reflex action) IS ALLOWED TO ENGAGE! The 2 ennemies of your golf swing are CONTROL AND EFFORT, you take away the control and you realize more speed and get more accuracy and then your brain goes nuts because it associates power to effort and you just took away the effort and got kore power. So be wise and DON’T ADD MORE EFFORT as this will put the wrench into the wheels of the swing; and keep delivering your throw through the ball and into the direction you want to start it. For more clarity, see the following videos in our premium channel: “kinetic chain” series and “kinetic chain facilitation and engagement series” then “throw the club” and the “throwing series” and then fine tune the set up to allow this to happen even more often to get you completely comfortable and be able to actually PREDICT that it will happen for you with “predict contact” and the “goldie locks series”. The icing on the cake is “target confirmation series” and “stick your finish despite the ball series”
45.5 inches; I did fit a couple of my members with 47 inches that translated into 5 more MPH which got them over their goals without any dispersion issues; Callaway does a great job with those options!
Releasing all the tension out of the swing and instead trusting that your setup and swing plane are going to get the club back to the ball are the most critical changes for a high capper like me to get some consistent distance.
A lot of wisdom in what you just said! See “throw the club straight shawn clement” and “predict perfect contact and direction shawn clement” and then see our “swing builder series with Chantal shawn clement” on our home page in the play list.
Arnold Palmer said, "Swing your swing...I know, I did." It took me a long time to really absorb what he meant by that. When I did, I realized that he really was the "King of Golf". There are two meanings, one shown here. Golf really is a swing. That is what your students are doing here. Swings can get a long and wide as possible because the swinging action keeps the shaft and club in a true arc. However, the second part of that...the "your swing" part may not be shown here. The only way to know you have "your swing" part of the equation is what I call the "first swing, no warm-up" swing. If you can have a competent swing with a first, no-warmup strike of the ball, then it is natural for you. If you are able to find your ball in the fairway, playing the 18th hole in total darkness, finishing your round of golf at night. Your arc is true to you. It is comfortable you. You are swinging your swing. The demonstration here of hitting off a concrete surface does not show swings made under pressure, off uneven ground, without preferred lies. The long driver champions can't make it on the PGA Tour because only consistency makes cuts regularly. Regularity comes in part from "Swinging your swing" as Arnold Palmer said...and the short game.
one of the big things you need to understand, to the people watching this video.... the whole point of this is that you want to have the club head being accelerated.... if you try to hit the ball with the club it will cause you to use different muscles in your body, which could be more kind of like hitting a nail with a hammer.... muscling it in there..... there is your power..... however, imagine one of those amusement park swing rides.... they dont muscle you out.... it gently builds up that centripetal or centrifugal (idf remember which is which) and pushes you out..... ok well this is what you want to do with the driver.... you want to use a big range of motion in your body in order to build up that momentum in the club head and that is what will have the club achieve faster speeds in order to hit further.
I’m very sceptical that it can carry 270 with a 103 club speed. My club head speed can reach 112. 108 speed carry’s 265. Im definitely going to give this “slow swing” a try
You should get on a launch monitor and focus on the spin you're putting on the ball. Thats a game changer. The "slow swing" will have a high percentage of hitting the center with the right positive angle of attack that will have low sping more distance. Think of long drivers in competiton. 202 ball speed but when they have 4k RPM the ball "only" carries 320 and only rolls out to 350. Same ball speed with the correct angle they get 1500 RPM and carry 400 roll out over 450
It can't. Physically impossible to get a smash factor over 1.55. Scrolled until I found a comment that wasn't like by the channel... sims can he faked with various factors such as altitude, wind, and even calibrations. Only truth he tells is that that if you hit it in the middle of the face it'll probably go further but that's not necessarily true either. Just above the the sweet spot is better as it lowers spin. It's a good exercise but the figures claimed here are far, far off
Factory settings; same machine as what you see the vast majority of PGA professionals with out on tour and the reason I got Callaway’s top fitter of the year 2 years in a row here in Canada and on their fitting board. Both Savannah and Munashe now compete in Professional Long Drive (same as Bryson) with Savy in top 6 in all competitions this year and Mu now breaking through top 24 into the Quarters in Mens after only 4 years in golf. These squirrels keep finding their nuts!
@@patrickk5370 there is no issue with the sim; gimme a break already! All neutral settings, best sim on the market, vast majority of PGA tour players own and use it at all tournaments...
@@golflessons ha ha... I only jumped in because my last trip to the simulator the pro had it turned up.... he did it for the average golfer who thinks they can hit it further than what they can. I will be following your channel and implementing some of your lessons! Great video.
My coach calls it the "Boom Boom " effect. Freddie Couples has the most effortless swing and gets major distance on demand. Always allow the tool to do it's job and focus on guiding the tool rather than forcing it.
@@golflessons right? Imagine my response to my first 300 yard drive using that technique. Now, if I could only correct the 150 that goes to the right. LoL. Kidding. I've learned so much during the off season. Hats off to all you instructors out there.

Yes, you bet Matthew! She is 40 to 50 yards CARRY over the average LPGA player; her club speed is now 105 average at cruising speeds. No joke. All leggit.
I don't hit driver that often (often play shorter courses) and I'm a newer player, but my experience has definitely been that the slower I try to hit my driver, the further it goes. Just gives you a perspective on the technology in the club face, and how important it is to hit it in the center.
Completely legit! Sav and Mu now compete in Pro Long Drive events with Sav making top 8 in all 4 of her events and Mu making 1/4 finals!! way more efficient swings than the average; we know what we are doing and our students really enjoy the average gains of 30 yards they get when they come to see us!
This is the most beneficial golf advice I've ever gotten. I watched this video, and went to the range an hour later. Doing this completely changed everything for the better! Everything improved 100%. Thank you for posting this video!!!
Glad it helped! 👍👌
She is swinging at full speed. The launch monitor needs to be calibrated and I don’t believe his numbers.
@@garygeesman3214 Exactly, the speed is coming because the body is less tense and is just focussed on creating a wide swing arc with good sequencing
Uncanny
@@jimmason8502 Lol Using the Big Muscles and hes never doing anything spasmodic, never hurries ever in his swing.
Right on Tuz!!💪👌👍😀🚀
Thanks!!! 🇨🇦

I tried this last weekend on one of New Zealands best courses....Best I have ever driven the ball. This is the best drill to date. Thanks so much!!!
Criminey!! :-)

I tried this out today and I was really impressed with the ease in which I could swing it but not lose distance. Golf really can be a game of opposites at times.
Exactly!! You acquired some wisdom today! 😀👍
Yes, this seems hard to believe because our brains associate power to effort; here is another testimonial from another student who just went out and tried it: Dear Shawn
I have struggled with my driving for 8 years. I could not hit more than 220 yards and have seen many instructors with nothing working.
I watched your video gently drive your golf ball 300 yards, went to the practise ground with my children to pick the balls up after my shots and it worked !. Thank you ever so much.

Their estimate of effort is totally subjective. For a given club weight, speed is the variable. I get their point but its clubhead speed...not magic.

Once you get that 50% feel down and it feels relaxed, you can start adding a littler speed, but I ALWAYS try to employ that super relaxed 50% swing feel on my full shots.
great comment! thank you! 👌👍👊
Cool! Will have to check out the club one day!
I slowed down everything considerably, and just stretched out everyday. That was the biggest improvement I ever saw in my game.
Right on David! Range of motion will trump effort EVERY TIME!!👍😀
Her flexibility allows her to generate a lot of clubhead speed at impact with a very relaxed swing style.
Think it's time I work on losing weight and adding flexibility to myself. I'd like to lower my effort and still keep a 300yd drive.
I used to do that drill swinging from the club head. The sound position tells you where you're fastest speed is at. You want that sound around the ball.
You want that swish sound well past the ball into the direction you want the ball to start!
I agree. .5 out of 10 effort yet the swing speed is 91% of her best ever. Smooth, yes. Gentle, no
That machine is not accurate. She is no where near those numbers. She is not swinging at 103.
@@charlesmatar8747 she is actually swinging faster now; pushing 109
I agree.
It's not "gentle"
It's *tension free*, with the hands, wrists, arms, especially on the downswing and through the ball.
Think Freddie Couples "flow"
Most people who can't drive the ball at least 200 yards, are doing the opposite : they get *tighter* with their hands, wrists, arms as they approach the "ball-brick",
and actually *slow* down their clubhead
The short hitters are equating *effort* with tension applied through the hands, wrists, arms.
The golfers in this video, starting with Sean are all making a very strong leg, hip move, which *propels* the soft arms, hands, wrists, and finally the club.
Just like a fast baseball pitcher. "Loosey goosey"
I have had this same experience. The harder I swing, the more my spin goes up, canceling out the ball speed gains, but increasing my dispersion.
The key also is playing the ball forward for a complete turn and release. I went from a swing speed of 95 to 105. I'm also 56.
For all shots or just the driver?
@@Rraygino I play the ball forward for all my approach shots. Things change on lies high/low, side angles, sand, flop shots. As long as I'm on a flat surface I play it forward. Hope this helps.
Was playing really windy days lately. I mean 20 mph and I was just throwing all my clubs and even the irons were just high cruise missiles. I wasn’t even doing the full range. Thanks for the insight Shawn and co!

What is that video called?
I'd like to see that video as well
Any link that that video ?
I'll keep you posted on how my first game is on Saturday.🙏
Oh and by the way, I'm 59 years old!
Good Question! Let’s keep an eye out! We are posting a nice sequel to this video today, stay tuned! Make sure you subscribe!
Got fitted and ordered a new set. Going from kids clubs to a decent set I went from 140 with a 7 to 190 and my driver went from 240 to 290. Clubs you are confortable with and swing motion make a huge difference.
Fantastic my man! That is bliss! 😀👍
This is such a good one! Just this evening had a feel for "smoother, slower" after a rough practice yesterday and it completely put me back in the zone. Cool to come across this vid on the same day.

Best lesson I ever got was from a stranger I was playing a round with. He was watching me struggle to get out of the tee box. He said “ stop trying to hit the ball far and just hit the ball. “
Just make sure you are sending the ball in the direction you want it to fly into with ease; ridiculous ease!
Am I allowed to say I am dumbfounded but then again not. The numbers don’t lie & yet when I watch your swings they are so easy yet fluid. I would love to have known some sort I efficiency number but again am sure it is really high because of your effective use of your body and the club. These drills remind me of long toss in baseball which is all design for you to get full range of motion while staying relaxed and easy. Very impressive.
Once that kinetic chain kicks in, it is like a human reflex and just goes off like an explosion!
Mu and Matty from TXG need to have a drive-off.... :)
Awesome video! I've watched many videos recently in an effort to improve my swing and increase clubhead speed. This video was by far the most helpful!

Yeah man! Good stuff and stay tuned for next week when we have that set up fully detailed in a another sweet driver video! Shawn
This should be the golfer’s prayer
Oh god give me strength not to use strength
Good one!!
Good contact is much more important than swinging hard. There's a teenage girl that is well known in my area for her golf prowess. She doesn't weigh more than 120 lbs, but can hit a drive close to 300 yards and puts men in their athletic prime to shame.
Are you sure this machine is not broken all the swings look effortless.
And it ABSOLUTELY IS!!
Hey sav, is your driver set on standard or do you add or decrease loft with that strong grip.Thank you love the videos.
Hey! I have a 9 degree driver and I keep it at neutral settings
Would be interested on the shaft length on that club..... All long drive competitors have extended shaft lengths
If you are able to find your ball
in the fairway, playing the 18th hole in total darkness, finishing your round of golf at night.
Awesome comment Chad! Lots of Wisdom in here!
It's a good exercise but the figures claimed here are far, far off
Remember that our angles of attack are way up at 7 to 9 degrees and this lowers the spin rates like crazy so we get max carry and max roll out…
Factory settings; same machine as what you see the vast majority of PGA professionals with out on tour and the reason I got Callaway’s top fitter of the year 2 years in a row here in Canada and on their fitting board. Both Savannah and Munashe now compete in Professional Long Drive (same as Bryson) with Savy in top 6 in all competitions this year and Mu now breaking through top 24 into the Quarters in Mens after only 4 years in golf. These squirrels keep finding their nuts!
This premise is SO true. particularly with driver. swinging hard is the enemy.

I don't hit driver that often (often play shorter courses) and I'm a newer player, but my experience has definitely been that the slower I try to hit my driver, the further it goes. Just gives you a perspective on the technology in the club face, and how important it is to hit it in the center.
