This video and my Scottish trip gave my dad a tear in his eye. When you grow up in South Africa in uitenhage, you don't even think of playing the Old Course. You see them play the Open there, and you read history about it. But you never for a moment have even the start of a thought that you will ever play it. Never.
Not only are there visa issue for South Africans just to get to the UK, but 300 GBP for a round for a round of golf in an expensive European country is not in the realms of possibility. Thanks to this channel and sponsors like Takomo, and the playas who support the channel, I was able to do what neither my dad nor I thought was possible. I played the Old Course at St Andrews. Luckily i also was able to reinstate my family’s nationality that were lost during the war so i could travel as a Lithuanian. Otherwise this would not have happened
This is the pinnacle - as good as playing at pebble and the town of St Andrews is a place I could live forever. The St Andrews Golf green fees differ depending on which course, by they are quite cheap in comparison to the Old Course (less than $100). I played a couple of them with my friend J5. It was an honor to be able to play at the complex. Before the round, I did look at St Andrews Old course maps, and even walked the course 4 times. But I never actually looked at hole 11 or 12. I always turned around. To my detriment.

The 'blink of a brown eye' had me in stitches 😂, scores don't matter when you're walking on the glorious fairways of St Andrews.

  • @nunyaredenbacher7440

Glad you finally to play the Old Course. Thanks for bringing us along on your journey.

  • @hollywoodknights9343

Hey there we are! Loving your first shot on the first tee. Blue sweaters :) Gonna crack a beer and watch this now.

  • @Pollutens

That german's bro driver shot and hitting 67. Golf is truly amazing.

  • @PatrickMclaughlinRock

Couple of my cousins caddy at St Andrews, one told me that on a calm day that I would shoot no more than 67 find it hard to believe.

  • @theythinkimmadyouknow

Come for the golf, stay for the sound track!!

  • @patface

I noticed you have a bad habit of not following through all the way and doing the pose. I feel like that can result in less ball flight.

  • @tonyclark6297

Well played! Couple of poor decisions cost you. Always take driver dead straight on 12 if you're a big hitter or hit it left or right into the rough. And, as you said, stick to your game plan and play the shots you know.

  • @VENZUL0

Great shout out to Bob Rotella, he changed everything for me.

  • @xColinMc1888x

    Tremendous.

  • @stephenblack6615

The play post bunker hole was fantastic. That took better play and composure than the front 9 tap in eagle making golf look easy. That's why you're the Baus Matty Boom Boom. Playa in chief, indeed! Awesome stuff!!!!

  • @dontpanic716

So happy i got to watch you make it to the Old Course. Great round with just one mean bunker. That rando german with the 67 would be an interesting round to watch too. I loved seeing everyones tee shot on the final 2 holes.

  • @dewey6912

What a round! Thanks for sharing! It’s always great to watch you play!

  • @wanderingbrummie

Played there myself on a winter ticket the last three years. Fantastic place, over the moon to beat my handicap there, even if it was a measly 90 gross score. I visited a bunker on the 12th too, hard not to! Plenty of bunkers in the rough too, which just adds insult to injury! Fantastic turf to play off, even in winter. Happy days.

  • @eburney68

Legendary. So much fun watching you savor this bucket list experience - and play damn well in the process! Love the bridge pics ❤

  • @Anvilarm07

Ah this is the one I have been waiting for. Great video. Kudos to you for showing us your quad. And your topped drives. For this 13 handicap in Canada, your great mental attitude (and the gorgeous courses) is why I watch your videos. Par over the last three holes? Epic. I think the greatest compliment I can give you is you seem like you would be a great guy with which to play a round.

  • @edgorious

What a Rockster, I was there with you in spirit. What an awesome 16 minutes video, that was a great first experince at the home of golf!!

  • @jmu4508

Waited a long time for this one. Great job and thanks for sharing. Old Course is on my bucket list. You have my word if I ever get in one of those bunkers I promise to get out sideways or even backwards and not risk it. Greetings from USA

  • @adrianjackman9422

Congratulations. The way you played the first, an Eagle and the way you finished on the home of golf, such amazing memories to take away.

  • @marnew1000

Wadda round Matty waddaplaya. Had you down for scratch dudey but 1.4 is amazing for 20 rounds in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 it’s cold wet and very windy. Well done Matt…
