Andy, the first model I ever built was snap together Sherman in late '69. My father was terminally ill and he wanted to share his hobbies and past times with us. I was 4. Do the math and that was half a century ago. The Sherman was always a favorite kit of mine (the Elephant/Ferdinand was my 2nd fave) and I built any Sherman I could get my hands on. I built about a dozen Testors (italeri) versions, Monograms hedgehog and Screamin' Mimi, early Dragon kits and just about every scale out there. I've seen great kits and kits that shouldn't have been manufactured. Looking at how well that HVSS went together really impressed me with the quality of the castings, the engineering of the kit and the level of detail. Can't wait to get mine, preordered during your live stream, and I have yet to decide how I'm going to paint it. I hope to see other variants in 1/16 like a Firefly and an A1. You did a great job that is an awesome looking kit.
It's mind boggling to think about how well thought out the design is on the track and road wheels. The person who thought this through and made it happen is a genius.
Love it - I wonder how long before some third party manufacturer produces working volute springs and shock absorbers - that'd be great.

In 1/16th scale it is easy enough for you to do it yourself just some brass tube and small springs

I wonder whether it could be made and sold as a separate add-on kit. With no internal attachment points included in this present kit, getting all the interior bits properly located might require an advanced level of skill, but it certainly would be cool to have the option.

I hope that the aftermarket support is amazing for this kit. It is already a gem, but with some aftermarket goodies, it could be pure gold.
When I think that you were a guy that liked to build plastic kits, and then started your own hobby shop, and now have a beautiful 1/16 (!) Sherman with your name on it, that's just amazing. Congrats. Looks like a beautiful kit.

of all the video channels I follow, your Andy is the one that best represents the passion for your hobby which has since become a job. a job done with the heart, with the brain and with the desire to share a passion and make it accessible to everyone. if I think back to your first videos, comments, construction tips and so on, I see how much time has passed and the evolution that has taken place. I confess, I miss your first shop where you used to shoot your videos during your lunch break or on Sunday mornings. but you deserve everything you have done so far, working hard and communicating with passion. I've had many workable tracks over past several years and just by watching this video, those tracks look amazing and they definitely seems to be the easiest ones I've seen

Hope you don't mind, I picked up the Crazy 8 Sherman today and I'm taking my time..following your videos on it,and I made a slight mod to the idler wheels ..drilled and added screws like the RC tanks have..

Those tracks look absolutely beautiful compared to other model tracks that I had to make. I usually try and get the rubber pre-made workable tracks whenever I am shopping for a new tank, but these on your model look really easy and non-frustrating to build.

Great price and more affordable alternative to the iconic Tamiya 1/16 RC Sherman, Wonder if you could get or order the Tamiya RC 1/16 wheels ,springs and bogies only as a spare replacement parts and switch out ? I guess as this is meant to be more a static Sherman unlike the like Tamiya RC version and thats why its not so overly engineered in wheel areas . The price reflects this . But looks great and great price too !

If there are aftermarket kit companies out there, producing an actual working upper shock absorber and the volute springs for the bogie assemblies would be a Yuuuge addition to this model - and also for the M-10 and Achilles model kits.
The suspension system would operate completely correctly, with each wheel moving independently.

I'd like to see some aftermarket parts for this beast. An all metal .50 cal. and bow .30 cal. A super detail engine compartment with opening hatches and rear doors. And someone already mentioned real metal volute springs.
Oh yes we have lots of aftermarket on the way very soon
Aber makes both the 50 Cal and the 30 cal barrel in 1:16th scale, Tamiya made working 1:16th scale HVSS in metal for their 1:16th scale RC Sherman. The front hatches can be easily cut out to open them.
I'm betting someone starts producing a kit that makes the springs functional...

Wow this kit looks great. It's only 139.00? I thought at least 400.00. But on Armour in this scale where are you going to get all the boxes, tarp etc to pile on top of it?

Not my scale so doubtful I'll purchase, but you have one hell of a kit there.... Need to produce an earlier Sherman now. VVSS was far more common until '45. (Then a PZKW IV )

Hi Andy the Kit looks marvelous and well done for getting it to market so swiftly ( a lot faster than the Airfix K2Y ambulance) I only have one concern it is being pre ordered and marketed at £143.95 but on the us site it's being marketed at $139.99 which equates to £116 ?

I like that there is a lot of great details, but it looks easy to build (unlike an AFV Club kit!!). I thought it was funny that you said this counts as a build video, to appease the chumps who complain that you don't do as many build videos lately. They don't understand that you are busy growing your business, and if a business isn't growing it's dying.

Could you use metal track so to give it more realistic
Tracks look fantastic. The “working” suspension less so. They look good but properly working volutes and shock absorbers would have made this a must purchase kit, even if slightly more expensive. Totally get the cost vs detail compromise you must have faced, but at 1/16 scale the suspension should have been fully articulating. Only my opinion though and happy to be shouted down.
Question do you wash your models your plastic before you start putting it together are you just paying over it
Did you consider metal volute springs so that the suspension is actually fully workable rather than just pivoting? It has been done on 35th scale before. 👍
White metal would be to soft. But brass or thin spring steel would work better. That thing is going to be weighty, at least as plastic tanks go, so you'd want metal that could handle it.
@@blister762 you could use the same metal they use as the central return spring for garden trimmers or even 3d print if you get the thickness right.
