I'm a UConn alum and we played Yale at Yale Bowl every year I was there. I played in the Marching Band, and we would make our entrance into the stadium through that tunnel. Never could beat Yale during my time there. Nice job pronoucing Barzilauskas. He's a fellow Lithuanian.
This was a radio broadcast. The Giants refused the lift the blackout because Wellington Mara thought it would be "unfair" to the fans who drove from the city to New Haven. Even though the game was not sold out, NBC could have televised the game back to NYC, because the rules of the time stated a game which was sold out had to be televised in the home team's area, but a game which was not sold out COULD be blacked out, but also could be televised in the home market. This was the opposite of the 1970 Giants-Jets game at Shea, where Sonny Werblin and Philip Iselin allowed WCBS to air it.
"Joe Namath stunned the Giants with a good fake and hobbled into the endzone for the win." That's how I remembered it too, but it is not true. His TD only tied it. @34:50

Marv Albert used to call their games on NBC

@bankruptbastard3423 I was referring from 1979-1996. The blackout rule was a bummer especially if you couldn't make it to the games
