He was a polymath at a time when the sum of human knowledge was smaller and an individual gifted person could make substantial advances in multiple fields. But most of us lead placeholder lives - hence the desire to trash remarkable people.

I did not like this documentary. The actor that played Ben Franklin was just awful, and despite it's length, a lot of important historical information was left out. I watched this last night, and tonight watched another documentary that was far better - "The Amazing Life of Benjamin Franklin- American Genius-Full." This was half the length and covered much more. The narrarators were better too. Some of the narrators of the PBS version had some liberal biases that detracted from the program.
I'm I only one who watched 30 minutes of this and had to turn it off. Just constant fawning over the guy. He was so clever, popular, diligent, amazing, perfect.... 🤢🤮. That stuff is so boring. I want to hear about his flaws and vices because I'm sure he had some (like the rest of us) and that's way more interesting.
