Same bro, same. As a guardsman player it brought tears to my eyes to see them in action even if we weren't actually playing them. It was near perfection.
The Chapter Standard scene for me has, pun intended, raised the standard for what I consider "faithful adaptations". So much of 40K can be distilled down to that one scene. Hopeless, unwinnable situation, and yet the brothers fight on. It's the perfect Venn diagram of silly bullshit and absolute badassery that meets in the middle to make 40K what it is. The takeaway from 40K for me has always been that one, it's ridiculous and fun because it's a game first, and two, the overwhelming might of the human spirit cannot be destroyed. We can conquer anything if we just "Hold this ground in the name of the Primarch!"
There is literally nothing more stirring than the last stand, especially around the Standard. I need to replay the game because the first time i was just too worried covering the battle brother dragging the other back to the group

I am going to probably get some hatred, but using Princess Aurora in this put a smile on my face. I loved her movie growing up she gets overlooked, and people forget what her name is. Thank you for giving her some attention.
@KrakDuk yeah sadly that is what everyone knows her as. Or think she is boring because she isn't in the film that much. Sleeping Beauty is a high-context film that requires the cultural background to appreciate how deep it is. Think of it like someone having no idea about the depth of Warhammer and have them try to appreciate what Titus went through being a Black Shield at the start of Space Marine 2 and how big it was for him to become an Ultramarine again. You may enjoy the game, but you wouldn't understand how big the end was with Marneus Calgar welcoming Titus back and the Lorals of Victory on Titus's helm.
@@A_Professional422 Prepare for a long, but honest, answer. My concern wasn't liking the movie, but rather that Aurora has a rather substantial hatedom (if that is a word) even going back to the 1959 release of her movie. A combination of the fact she is a very traditional female character that was released in the rising feminist movement, the fact she is the titular character with only about 12 minutes in the whole 70 minutes of the film, and has little character reveal compared to previous princess characters such as the previous Snow White and Cinderella and especially compared to later ones like Ariel and Belle. This is why she is notably pushed to back of many properties and has substantially less material associated with her. As such, I was expecting the fact I thanked KrakDuk for including her in a positive light to have someone hate her.
When Pimp Daddy Calgar rolled in hos Thunderhawk I could only shout "Papa Smurf! He's here in a game, finally!" I kinda hope the Dreadnought was the badass veteran sergeant because it just feels right, especially when he almost casually struck a helldrake down. When the Chaplain was revealed to be an older less annoying Lameandros I was wondering how you would react Duk, you always call it as it is.

They find great "success" as speakers with lost and lonely loser type individuals like them flocking to them due to validation. They become part of the machine and system that existed to create them in the first place. The game is amazing! The gameplay excellent and even the story was a very relevant subject matter to me. Some of the sermons i heard the chaplain make were almost remixed words of what i heard said by "recruiters" getting lost teens into fighting for IS... Notice how the older space marines like Titus and even Calgar are almost powerless to stop it too despite being intelligent enough to see the damage it does. If they remove the chaplain the inquisition and chaos... the real ennemy wins so you gotta do what you gotta do... Amazing game that resonates with me at a personal level.
In Leandros' defense, Titus did admit he didn't do a good job in helping with his concerns and it wasn't explain to the characters in the game why Titus has high resistance to the warp without special equipment.
So fun fact: if you hang around the Battle Barge in the mission after the veteran sergeant is killed, you can over hear dialogue that they’re actually planning on putting him into a dreadnaught and that the sarcophagus is en route. Even after playing through the game multiple times now I have watched this breakdown twice. It is perfect. Simple. Elegant. Funny. Down to the last detail. When we were playing through the first time, the part where you are trying to reach the relay while the other team deals with the Hive Tyrant and we barely killed the Carnifex... AND THEN TWO MORE SHOW UP. Legit just "Mr. President a second Carnifex has hit the towers." Also my buddy Bepis and you both seem to have blown up in the last few months dude, congrats! We've been having a blast making videos out of it, well he has, I just kinda am there.
It's notoriously difficult to write a compelling narrative about space marines due to their stoic nature and the fact they can be hundreds of years old. Typically, you'd want characters to be able to show emotion and character progression, which is why so many W40k novels are written from a 'regular human' perspective. This is why Space Marine 2 is secretly peak writing.
Man the story and the campaign were nearly perfect, epic beyond measure. There's conflict, growth and most of all, there's insanely amounts of cool action. The last 2 missions were mind blowingly perfect, I loved it
While I do think the game is nigh perfect, I do wish the Tyranids were a bit more important, rather than only being backround enemies against the main over-arching plot.
I wish a channel like this existed when i just started getting into 40k. The casual way you talk about things and the little visuals make it more digestible and less daunting. Makes me think of sam-onella. Good shit bro
The voice actor from rouge trader said he wasn't the one who voiced the one in Spacemarine 2, so he likely wasn't. Plus, Ulfar's thing was that he was always the last survivor so I doubt he just kicked the bucket randomly.
The Operation “Decapitation” where you slay the Hive Tyrant, is by far, My favorite Operation. Also that Dreadnought is the best character besides the main Trio
The Banner scene was so iconic, I played as Gadriel with my two bros. Loved that you had your own POV during that scene and it showed all three of them, it was genuinely so immersive and the best moment I had with them in awhile. It really made us connect with the characters and each other, overall, Space Marine 2 has brought me and my friends closer and has made for some good gaming moments. This is what gaming should be, fun, taking your mind off things, relaxing, immersive. its literally the male fantasy and what gamers truly want. (joking of course)
The scene with Marneus Calgar rolling up to save the day after you recreated the Crimson Fists' Last Stand art was so good it made me geneseed in my pants. Next we need classic codex art Calgar with the HUGE SUIT to show up and box the Swarm Lord, and my life will be complete.
This video is how I find out about Ulfar's death. I hope he went out in the glory he deserves. Unlimited ale and meat tonight at the lodge boys, lets sing of our fallen brother's life
So crazy to hear you’re at 100k subs man! I always knew when I was watching your older videos that you had great potential to be a phenomenal warhammer UA-camr! Also P.S. I love the drawings!
I couldn’t agree more about the off screen tyrant death. I was sweaty already when 3 more bosses came over the ledge I was legit thinking they were gonna kill off our boys to give the tyranids a dub.
Dude its death in that mission was amazing. I was so relieved I didn’t have to fight 3 carnifexes. Literally thanked god I didn’t have to fight them. Great cinematography though waiting until all 3 are upon you before giving you that reprieve.
I’m super new to the warhammer universe. Just got the game last week and have been enjoying it a lot. Your videos have been entertaining and insightful with understanding lore, allowing me to replay missions with a more trained eye to catch things I missed the first time. Please keep on going! For the emperor….
I got into the 40k universe because of Darktide. Space Marine two really sold me on getting more into the lore and your videos have helped me understand things along the way! Thanks for being there for us baby guardsmen :)
My favorite part about the Space Marine 2 (and by extension the first one)'s story is it really shows the scale of the setting. These battles would otherwise be footnotes in a codex but they're massive engagements filled with heroism
Genuinely felt the sorry and characters were near perfect for the setting and the previous experiences of the characters. It felt rewarding and thematic, with good character development whilst doing a fantastic job of making it feel right for a space marine game.
Huge nid fan. The die off screen i was mad at. Then i played the mission where we kill it. Huge fan of that mission regardless of grind aspect. Feels good.
KrakDuk I just wanted to say that between you and Space Marine 2 I am officially in love with the 40k verse and went out and bought my first combat patrol and a couple of books. Thank you for the amazing content and looking forward to many more years in the hobby!
Dreadnought and flag scene were peak gaming moments. Like up there with World at War’s flag scene, or Halo’s warthog escapes level of epicness. So excited to see what’s next… NECRONS?! Please be necrons.
Ngl for me the best scene in the game is by far the dreadnaught vs helldrake scene. Im normally pretty measured when i play games barely ever reacting but when that happened my mouth literally dropped i genuinely cant remember the last time a scene had that effect on me in a videogame absolutely sick. I did also really really like the banner hold section but it didnt hit me as hard as the draudnaught hit that helldrake XD
10:04 there are other things that gives it away. Someone else pointed out how the vox caster doesn’t have the helmet which is being worn by the guy who suicide-bombed our friend. Hence when the guy tried to reach out as requested, he had no chance of getting through
Your right about the last last being the best cinematic moment but the best in game has to be when the dreadnought takes out the helldrake with the stone pillar toss
1) the dreadnought at the end of the game is the best character of the entire game 2) the Codex astartes does not support this action... but I am here for it
What's also cool is that if you play as either of the other two marines, you get slightly different lines when Imurah does the warp fuckery brain whispers.
I’ve always had an interest in 40k and was excited to play SM2. But when I raised the standard with my brothers to slay the horde of heretics I became a fan. One of the all time moments in a shooter campaign.
Just kinda ironic that in both games, a named Veteran Sergeant dies…like bruh 😂 Wish they brought back Sidnous as the Dreadnaught as that would’ve been so dope as he was a fan favorite AND would’ve been a cool bridge to the past game
I Just love the Small detail with this newest update. At the end of the game where Titus is knocked out after destroying the artifact, the Voice that speaks to you saying "Rise, Son of Guilliman." Just sent chills. I don't care what people say, 100% that was The Lord Emporer himself. Loved that Tiny Detail.
Literally at the end when Titus tells the boys he loves them I said “bitch ass Leandros could never” and 10 seconds later he was right there. We lost our shit lol
Best line in the entire game. "Rise. Son of Guilliman" that one line made me feel like Randy from south park when he was attacked by a ghost covered in ectoplasm
I definitely was nerding out during the first mission. Falls from high place like Chief does every game 😭. And then the mini reach moment literally had me say “omg are we doing a halo reach” 🙏🏼
The story was definitely more than I expected. It was so full of badass moments. Like a buddy cop movie with space marines. I wasn't expecting to like the characters, but Gadriel had me reeling from loving him to hating him to loving him even more, and chairon progressively got more and more cool, especially after the Thousand Sons made their entrance. Also it helped convince my friends that Tzeentch really is the coolest chaos god.
I like to think the reason Calgar wasn’t around when Titus was just waking up at the end of the game is because he was off arranging the dramatic fly over by those jets.
I honestly was so mad, and I was like how he could become a class I absolutely respect, until a friend told me “it’s cause he was worried about purity”. I just hope he can back that mouth up in a fight.

The last 2 missions were mind blowingly perfect, I loved it
You know what i love of this game? the fact that the operation missions are not random and are like a sub plot to the main story
def one of the best scenes is when they take a jab at leandros when Gadriel says "the codex astartes deos not support this action but i do"
While I do think the game is nigh perfect, I do wish the Tyranids were a bit more important, rather than only being backround enemies against the main over-arching plot.
Hello, the Orks in the first game? Its hard to have Tyrannids or Orks be the big bad... Cause they just want to kill
I wish a channel like this existed when i just started getting into 40k. The casual way you talk about things and the little visuals make it more digestible and less daunting. Makes me think of sam-onella. Good shit bro
Wait, is Ulfar the space wolf from Rogue Trader ??? No way
Same VA.
@@Dracobyte ooooh yeah that make sense
The voice actor from rouge trader said he wasn't the one who voiced the one in Spacemarine 2, so he likely wasn't. Plus, Ulfar's thing was that he was always the last survivor so I doubt he just kicked the bucket randomly.
@@asiersantamaria1930 Plus, I'm pretty sure that Ulfar was a Primaris Marine on RT. The whole squad was I MK8 Armor
It was confirmed by owlcat that they are not the same person
Helldrake: I SEE NO GOD UP HERE EXCEPT ME
dreadnought: I cast statue
The scene with Marneus Calgar rolling up to save the day after you recreated the Crimson Fists' Last Stand art was so good it made me geneseed in my pants. Next we need classic codex art Calgar with the HUGE SUIT to show up and box the Swarm Lord, and my life will be complete.
This video is how I find out about Ulfar's death. I hope he went out in the glory he deserves. Unlimited ale and meat tonight at the lodge boys, lets sing of our fallen brother's life
It was confirmed by owlcat that they aren't the same Ulfar
So crazy to hear you’re at 100k subs man! I always knew when I was watching your older videos that you had great potential to be a phenomenal warhammer UA-camr! Also P.S. I love the drawings!
I couldn’t agree more about the off screen tyrant death. I was sweaty already when 3 more bosses came over the ledge I was legit thinking they were gonna kill off our boys to give the tyranids a dub.
Ya I thought the devs were trying to put a brutally hard boss fight so I was dreading rolling around carnifexes for half an hour lol.
@@KrakDuk as soon Titus pulled out the chain sword on his own, I was like thank god.
Dude its death in that mission was amazing. I was so relieved I didn’t have to fight 3 carnifexes. Literally thanked god I didn’t have to fight them. Great cinematography though waiting until all 3 are upon you before giving you that reprieve.
@@leviburton2467 do you mean thanked the emperor? 😁😂
I’m super new to the warhammer universe. Just got the game last week and have been enjoying it a lot. Your videos have been entertaining and insightful with understanding lore, allowing me to replay missions with a more trained eye to catch things I missed the first time.
Please keep on going! For the emperor….
Youve received your first few organs aspirant, serve the chapter faithfully and you may yet become a true battle brother
These battles would otherwise be footnotes in a codex but they're massive engagements filled with heroism
glad to see that someone else struggled against the scarab terminators. genuinely thought I was just not good enough for a second.
Feels good.
I’m hopeful they do some more Deathwatch stuff in future updates
KrakDuk I just wanted to say that between you and Space Marine 2 I am officially in love with the 40k verse and went out and bought my first combat patrol and a couple of books. Thank you for the amazing content and looking forward to many more years in the hobby!
What books if don't mind me asking?
2:55 i thought the exact same bro. That one guy died just like Emile getting stabbed in the back by an alien.
Dreadnought and flag scene were peak gaming moments. Like up there with World at War’s flag scene, or Halo’s warthog escapes level of epicness. So excited to see what’s next… NECRONS?! Please be necrons.
The whole time playing this game i thought "why is this chaplain such a dick" little did i know it was the arch traitor himself
Titus is chaos confirmed with his 3 legs 16:01
Gadriel like "you had it set to M for Mini when it should be set to W for Wumbo."
As a Deathwatch player disheartened by the GW update, I loved the first mission so much, even if it was only a prologue/training
Considering Titus is now a canon character, I think you might see some prequels about his time in the Deathwatch.
Hence when the guy tried to reach out as requested, he had no chance of getting through
It may be small for others , but for me , hearing Big E telling ''Rise , son of guilliman'' to titus gave me a small tears , he fricking deserved it !
18:24 WAIT A THOUSAND SONS. THATS LIKE THEIR NAME! WOOOOOOOAH
Nah, Just genesteeler propaganda
@@BLOODKINGbronuh uh. It must have been arranged by the chaos gods themselves
Your right about the last last being the best cinematic moment but the best in game has to be when the dreadnought takes out the helldrake with the stone pillar toss
1) the dreadnought at the end of the game is the best character of the entire game
2) the Codex astartes does not support this action... but I am here for it
What's also cool is that if you play as either of the other two marines, you get slightly different lines when Imurah does the warp fuckery brain whispers.
I love that you gave Acheron a tactical rock.
The coop in this game gave me a great experience I had not felt since the Halo / Gears of War days on Xbox360.
I’ve always had an interest in 40k and was excited to play SM2. But when I raised the standard with my brothers to slay the horde of heretics I became a fan. One of the all time moments in a shooter campaign.
it took me a while to notice but Imurah do be riding on some sick hoverboard
21:10 That time when he said " it's not only Warhammer it's Warhammer 40K" bast game ever 🔥
CONGRATS on 100k subs. happened lightning fast, which is expected. Your content is amazing, please never change.
Going and dropping a freaking million ton statue on a hive tyrant is definitely another peak ultramarinewildlife moment!!!
If you have it recorded, PLEASE post the end scene with linkin park. Absolute peak.
I would but I don’t want to get copyright struck lol. It’s on my discord tho in the SM2 spoilers channel
Just kinda ironic that in both games, a named Veteran Sergeant dies…like bruh 😂
Wish they brought back Sidnous as the Dreadnaught as that would’ve been so dope as he was a fan favorite AND would’ve been a cool bridge to the past game
The story was complete and simply straightforward...yeaaah john wick analogy hits
I just want to protect this guy's Guardsman drawing every time I see
Literally at the end when Titus tells the boys he loves them I said “bitch ass Leandros could never” and 10 seconds later he was right there. We lost our shit lol
Best line in the entire game.
"Rise. Son of Guilliman" that one line made me feel like Randy from south park when he was attacked by a ghost covered in ectoplasm
I dunno something about how you talk about the game makes me rewatch it over and over again
i love the drawings of this video really encapsulated the energy and weight of old mini figures, he really gets it
I definitely was nerding out during the first mission. Falls from high place like Chief does every game 😭. And then the mini reach moment literally had me say “omg are we doing a halo reach” 🙏🏼
23:08 i'd honestly love to see that clip, that seems epic
That Chaplain drawing was sick and cute at the same time.
“…Set the obelisk from W for Warp to M for Multra Marines…” hit me way harder than I expected lmfao.
This game was so good I wasn’t even mad I got scammed with the pre-order. They can keep my money if they’re putting such a big smile on my face.
I like to think the reason Calgar wasn’t around when Titus was just waking up at the end of the game is because he was off arranging the dramatic fly over by those jets.
Dude that whole final boss sequence was soooo sick! Big 1ksons fan so I was way too hype while beating that guy up 😂
The tactical rock under the Captains foot is fire
Company banner scene no joke got me cold sweating and near tearing up.
Would love a vid on Necrons!
"Ere we go!
The last stand with the Chapter Banner was absolutely peak cinema.
Absolutely loved this game. Great sequel to a hidden gem from the 360 days!
Lmao 24:10 he sucks but he was clean tho i cant hate😂😂
I honestly was so mad, and I was like how he could become a class I absolutely respect, until a friend told me “it’s cause he was worried about purity”. I just hope he can back that mouth up in a fight.
I was listening to this while playing through boltgun and I just cleansed a lord of change by myself. Calum is scary
