So 100% confirmed facts - Nine and Dex are 91 Shots and Handsome Dexter. They are the producers for Pete & Bas, however on their visit to Plugged in with Fumez primary producing credit goes to Fumez with 91 Shots on beat producing. The behind the scenes video with Fumez shows Bas doing like 12 takes until he hits his long run to his own satisfaction. Additionally Pete & Bas do live shows, and when they do live shows they have their producers Nine and Dex with them. There are videos of concert performances in the UK with Pete & Bas, and in one video the power goes out and they perform acapella. Pete & Bas use stage last names. Lore, unconfirmed but plausible - Nine and Dex are their grandsons and on top of producing help with references and bars but the concepts come from Pete & Bas. Plausible because the references that Pete & Bas make reference more than just the current moment, they go deep into musical, cultural, and criminal history. They use a mix of Cockney Rhyming Slang and UK Drill Slang, much more than Nine and Dex do in their own work. Interesting note on timing - Nine and Dex started releasing their own project shortly after Pete's skin cancer scare and treatment. You hear Pete talking about his hopes and desires in the opening of Longthorne Shotgun.
I think it’s obvious that it’s a true collaboration. Like most artists that are out there, in fact. Pete and Bas definitely deserve their flowers because they are truly talented artists.

By now it is quite clear that the writing is a collaborative effort (their grandsons Nine & Dex helping out with the structure and new slang, Pete and Bas throwing in old references and old slang). Doesn't matter to me that they aren't writing the verses 100% by themselves - they still need to perform those bars and the flows are impeccable. That's not easy to do, even when you're in your 20's.
99.9% of the songs out of Nashville Tennessee are not written by the artist. Every song Dwight Yokam did was an old remake. Not one song on George Strait's Ocean Front Property album was written by George. Pete and Bas are putting more into this than most Country Artists and they sell Millions of albums every year!

True - cockney rhyming slang is wild. As an American that watches a ton of British TV and movies, that is probably the only thing in that culture that really throws me for a loop. It is a completely different way of coming at slang that is not very easy to pick up the meaning of. Really cool though and certainly would lend itself well to rap (clearly!).
Pete and Bas say they do write their own lyrics, they do get some help from their grandchildren with regards popular trends, such as "mukbangs" and things like that
Some of the slang is older than I am and it's sort of thing you just don't hear anymore. That's almost certainly coming from the old geezers. And yes, Pete was a postie (mailman to you over there) but it's a little more mixed with Bas. They're both from South London which includes Brixton, allegedly where UK Drill started, so they're going to sound similar to others from there. Personally I reckon they're getting a good chunk of help but the ideas are coming from an older generation, reminds me of some of the blokes I knew as a teenager. Sat quietly in the pub, telling tall tales and *nobody* messed with them. I didn't know anything about Drill before seeing these two pop up, I'm just an old goth and metalhead but the sound just grabbed me and I'm happy it did :)

I swear to god the holy trifecta 🤣 This video was great
Don't know if this comes through to a US audience, but the way they carry themselves is more than just a reflection on UK drill music, but they're representing an archetype of "successful London gangster": The sort of men that might have been around during or after the time of the Krays, but who made it to their later years, and so still hold that certain level of clout for who they are and what they did. No idea whether they're playing the character of aging London gangsters, or whether they've actually lived the life: They either play it well or lived it well.
Hey, I just wanted to say (as a Metalhead White dude that stumbled upon Pete and Bas and fell in love with 'em) that I appreciate the depth and relevance of your reactions. You're leagues above the swell of stoned dudes going "Damn, that's crazy. Like and subscribe!" and felt inspired to tell you so. And hey, if you're reading, I would absolutely come back to watch you react to "Awakening" by Unleash the Archers. It's done well as an introduction to modern metal for outsiders.
In answer to a question asked by the guys, as far as the way they speak, the accent and use of words is COMPLETLY authentic South London. If you go to any of the pubs down there where the old geezers hang out, you will hear this exact manner of speech, accent, cadence and all of it. These guys are 100% authentic. I can't vouch for who writes or whatever. But they are as real as it gets. Take a trip down there before this generation is gone.
@Matt-ou7tu Rap has African Griot origins. Griots are West African storytellers, musicians, and oral historians who preserve their people's traditions and history and also perform functions, etc. In southern Africa, there is a similar tradition called praise singing.

Woaaah. Sick content. Need to do "Window pain cypher part 1"
Nice one MrLBoyd.
You've done the Boys a real solid there.
Much Respect.

I mean, linking with Krizz is great, but you need to do more reactions with Cuzzo. I love his animation! Bring Cuzzo back!
This was dope. Together y’all are a vibe. Do more.
MRLBOYD is my fav reactor. And Krizz is one of the dopest artists out there. So this collab is phenomenal.
Love the reactions, guys. You had the music video covering your faces sometimes. I’m here to see you bro! Bump that vid up 🙏🏻
HOLY CRAP YOU GOT KRIZZ KALIKO ON HERE!!!!!!
Great reaction, thank you Gents 🙏🐊❤️🦉👍
Soooo glad you showed this to him!
please help these guys to do collaborations with major artists, that are legends , get thing I've seen
its one of the reasons i choose this group to let him check out
Loved the commentary on this.
Yo.. Wait. Krizz?! MRLBOYD You have my it good sir. This is amazing. So glad to been here for so long and to see something like this. Holy Moly.
legitimately fucking yelled cause I was so surprised seeing the thumbnail on the other video with KRIZZ!!! when 2 worlds come together holy SHIT insane so random hahaha....
Been a Stranger for 10+ years, and Met krizz when he came to Chilliwack in Canada a long time ago. And Mr Boyd is the only patreon Im signed up to! and the fact they covered the Diddy case.. I swear to god the holy trifecta 🤣 This video was great
Im seeing Pete & Bas live in a couple of weeks in Germany. Stoked and curious how theyll do in stage
Big Krizz Kaliko is one of the greatest to do it! He needs to be so much more famous!
Yoooo!?!? mrLBoyd with Kaliko??? I’m trippin. This is awesome.
One of my FAVORITE ARTISTS Krizz Kaliko and one of greatest reactors MRLBOYD. This made my week
It is videos like this that make this channel the best music reaction channel. 10/10
Always loved Tech and Krizz - saw yall in Detroit and the show and performance was incredible.
Cockney Rhyming is around 300 years old . And it is the great great grandfather of rap.
Nice try. American rap is on a different thread of cultural history.
@@demartucker9882Cockney rhyming slang has existed longer than the US has been a country.
@Matt-ou7tu
Rap has African Griot origins. Griots are West African storytellers, musicians, and oral historians who preserve their people's traditions and history and also perform functions, etc. In southern Africa, there is a similar tradition called praise singing.
Hello sir. First of all, let me tell you that I love your videos! They are more than just a reaction; they are actually educational for me. I have learned many things from your videos. Came here today looking for your reaction video for the new Kendrick Lamar drop, but unfortunately, I did not find it. I cannot wait for that video from you. Wishing you all the best
So you just know Krizz Kaliko like that…? Respect
I met Krizz back in 2014 when he and Tech came to town, such a lovely fella!
I saw the thumbnail and I was like: "That rapper looks like Krizz Kaliko, lets see who it is. No way its him" :'D
Very nice to see you guys are friends!! :D
eyyyyyyyy wassssss goooddddd KRIZZZ!! love love love from jersey
FYI, TPain streams on twitch regularly. Gaming, reacts to beats, etc.
been watching for awhile, but THIS one got me to sub. great vid, thank you!
Saw them live twice even had a pint with them. Was gonna say what's already been said about dex an nine are their grandkids and was told they originally ghost wrote for them but turned to them just producing and helping with lingo.
IT'S THE GRANDSON THATS BEHIND THEM THAT'S WHO WRITTEN 💪🏾💯
Exactly. It’s the delivery and not the writer. Writer gets credit for the words, but if you can’t deliver it doesn’t matter who wrote it! Thank you Krizz
Both the songs you showed him had a good bars but I thought the second one would have been a more hard song. Gangster shiz is good and light and fun, but Bish bash Bosh or longhorn shotgun or even Sindhu sesh was what I thought you were going to do next.
bro actually got Krizz Kaliko on here? Moves are being made . Fire
Jesus, I first listened to Krizz Kaliko in highschool when I was 14, now I'm 30!
💪😎
Lets go, I knew you had 'IT' back when the thumbnails were... girls 😂. #CreekSquad
Crazy to see how far the channel has already come and imagining the future. I bet you could do a mean Long Form Interview. Like 2hr + sit downs.
You’re an OG! Thanks for the support!
Loving your reactions, sending respect from the U.K. 🇬🇧 👊🏻
I honestly don't care what the story behind them is. The mystery is what makes the raps hit harder.
You keep surprising me! Learning your cousins with Brit and then your friends with Krizz. I wish I had an exciting life
Whether they write it or not they deliver. That’s all I care about.
I've been following Pete and Bas for a minute and I really appreciate this breakdown and analysis. Glad to hear y'all like them too!
I jump around, so does that mean that I’m rubberized?
KRIZZ!
Hell yeah!
I love your music 😊
We bleed em beat em till they be gone FEED EMMM!! ;)
Fun fact Krizz said somewhere, I'm pretty those last 4 bars were lost on a phone or some shit so he had to rewrite em. Look how he bounced back!............ 😆

Love u joining up with Krizz. Maan where is the Eminem vs Slim Shady Complex Cover?
