you should try printing the first couple layers. pausing, adding the fabric and then continuing. the filament will seep through the fabric and grab on really tight.
interesting proyect, you could use the 3d scan of your body to make sure the armor fits you perfectly! soime electronics work could be nice too like a voice changer or gadgets with servos like a grappling hook.
Cheetah is one of my absolute favorite filaments! Great for comfortable armor like this and stays flexible with acrylic paint for different finishes. Looking forward to seeing it together with the mesh.
I'm making a few suits of armor for an indie sci fi film. It's inspired by Batman, clone troopers, and Soviet military uniforms. We're trying to stay on a super cheap budget while looking good so we're planning on using a lot of stuff from discount stores. We might actually use a mid grade pleather painted matte black since most of the armor is gonna need to be flexible while looking tactical and futuristic. Fortunately there will be a Max of five alien soldiers at any time visible, so we only need five suits, and we want to make it so quick changes can be done to make it seem like there are many soldiers in slightly different suits
If I had the money to afford all that ninjaflex I’d have done something similar years back. Always had an interest in using flexible and solid interlocking parts for good protection with decent flexibility.
For binding the hex design to the fabric better, try letting the 3d printer do a layer or 2 on the bed first then lay the fabric over that and continue printing.
It is great to see another cosplay, it has been a while since the last time. I'm pretty sure this will go well with the bat-skateboard (especially if that cape will be light enough to wave properly during the ride). Also the idea with printing on the fabric to make interesting pattern is quite nice. I'm looking forward to see how will you proceed with this. Also the intro was hilarious!:)
You're batman! Put your heated bed on for printing onto fabric and the first layer you really want to press into the fabric. I've been testing out printing flexibles onto t-shirts
When you mentioned not breaking something if you fell off your bat-board, I had a flash of inspiration… Why not incorporate some safety features into your bat costume? You know: elbow pads, knee pads, a bit of padding in the helmet. You could even make them fit the armour theme. And I bet the flexible nature of the ninja-flex would lend itself well to making padding; just pick some tessellating 3D wireframe shapes to use as a manually digitally inserted in-fill. The flexier the filament selected, the better.
Huge Batman fan, so I’m excited for this series. A thought: have you considered testing if the suit could actually provide basic protection? Perhaps print another copy of the chest section and stab it with a knife? It would be interesting to know if Ninjaflex could withstand some basic cutting/stabbing and whether it serves as a good ballistic material.
No links to ninjatech to purchase products. Guess I better use Google, might want to put links to the products u test. Just saying love the video, very informative take care
This is awesome! Loving this concept... printing on fabric... =)
Hi hackstime ;)

Hi
That intro is golden meme fuel and he knows it haha. That stiffened face had me laughing for ages.

Yeah, exactly - ill-fitting parts are the bane (pun intended) of a good cosplay. You have your 3D body scan, James - Use it! :)
THIS BRINGS BACK THE FEELING OF UR OLD VIDEOS AND I LOVE IT
Hullbuster cosplay
Great to see you coming back to the cosplay theme, this is looking great, thanks!
Very creative with printing directly on fabric! That's something I had never thought of before, but now I want to give it a go
LOVE the printing of flexible hexes straight to the fabric. That opens up so many possibilities if it holds up.
Holy crap those prints came out beautifully

That was possibly the best intro to a video EVER! +1 for balaclava!!
Immediate like right after intro. That was epic!
Hilarious this is what this channel needs more.Comedy, i laught my ass off.
I love how gloriously naff your acting is. Yay!

The intro was very "it puts the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the hose again" ;)
Brilliant idea printing straight onto cloth. So many cosplayers will be going into a printing frenzy lol. Great vid as usual. TkEZ
YES YES YES !!!! Omg thank you so much !!!
Thanks I'm using my phone now and you just made my day
This is what I've been waiting for! A 3d printed cosplay batsuit! I hope it looks as good as some of the movie ones
You never end to amaze me
If I had the money to afford all that ninjaflex I’d have done something similar years back. Always had an interest in using flexible and solid interlocking parts for good protection with decent flexibility.
Love this! I never would have thought to 3D print onto fabric, that’s genius!
You make it look so easy!

OMG I LOVE THAT INTRO
James Bruton Hahaha 😊
Sweet project!
James - No more Batman intros!
print on fabric = awesome idea :)
That's great. It inspires me to make powered/ robotic clothing.
If you ever go back to the Hulkbuster you could use those printed panel where you have the loose cloth.
Looks really cool! cant wait to see more. keep it up!
Super awesome!
Never seen printing straight to fabric before!
Now you have flexible material for under suits, pleeeaassee can you fill in the gaps in the Iron Man suit? :)
Ooooh ATV Body Armor. Can you get your hands on a Honda? Bat Bike!
I would love to see you do some fusion 360 tutorials, your fast forward design segments make it look so easy.
It looks really good
I had a pop at making that bat suit from EVA foam inspired by XRobots method for the first iron man suit he made.... Feel like I need a upgrade!
Fantastic! Any chance you'll be sharing the files?
Nice one boy
You're batman! Put your heated bed on for printing onto fabric and the first layer you really want to press into the fabric. I've been testing out printing flexibles onto t-shirts
Cool.I will buy this if it is available.
That's really dope how you did that shit on the computer
The first 5 seconds of this video are goingto be turned into a meme you regret on the level of Star Wars Kid
Good on you, mate!

AND THEN WHEN JAMES FINISHED THE SUIT,HE MIGH WEAR THE SUIT AND USE THE BATMAN ELECTRIC SKATEBOARD ON THE PUBLIC,KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Looks cool
Go James!

James Bruton Maybe something to test down the road!
please consider doing the mesh in silver please? and a muscle suit might be a good idea.
Very cool, can you make the stl files available for patreons?
Hi James, when you finish the project can you post the file 3d? I really love the idea of this project
My question is: how bullet resistant is a plate of 100% infill ninjaflex?
Excellent, although will the suit be any good for spelunking?
LOL. That intro. :D The music says Batman, the look says Wile E. Coyote. ;)
If you used a very hot bed, could that help melt the plastic into the fabric?
Did you use the scan data to help design the pieces?
Hey James can you make the full helmet ? And how long will it take
Have you ever considered the dissolving support material? I cannot remember the material but it has an alcohol base that dissolves in water!
Shawn Wabschall it is called pva and is really cool. I would also be interested to see what James would come up
Why didn't you used your full body scan to model the parts onto?
Are you doing the shooting knives on the arms too
Will you be able to 3D print a cowl with the suit ? Or do you have it already ?
What is the print temperature for Ninja Flex? Thanks
Do you use a machine to make filaments from small pieces that could be rubbish?
That intro amazing
It's really sad that I don't have any 3d printer but I love this stuff ..
Suddenly notice that I've missed the "dorky" intros :) that is meant as a compliment.
curious how you will finish these or will just leave them as raw parts
Jesus, how are you so uick at 3d designing? I always end up getting lost in the 3 dimensions
How do you 3D model so well ive been doing it for a year and still not that good.
James did this last fucking year and I didnt even know about it. Ilu james
Q. is the ninjaflex filament PLA or ABS plastic?
Probably already been asked before and I might have missed it in the video, but what 3d printer are you using?
Just wanna know where you learned to engineer at?
Pauldrons. Shoulder defenses are called Pauldrons (or Spaulders depending on size), not "shoulder bells" :)
Eh, Hulkbuster ruined him at naming things :P
No links to ninjatech to purchase products. Guess I better use Google, might want to put links to the products u test. Just saying love the video, very informative take care
Well there are many resellers throughout the world...
To Make the mesh part see Greek gasket guru printable armor video
What app do you use to make 3d models?
are you putting a voice changer in the suite?
Where can we find the files to print our own???
Selling the 3D files anywhere?
Can you pls make these Files downloadable. I would love to print it
it would be really cool if you built the batsuit around the 3d model of yourself
this is good
Is this stl available?
What application is that?! It will really help with my work
Fusion 360
Anyone know the name of the undersuit that he used??
That look cools
Try a voice changer in later parts like someone further down in the comments said
0:24 when your batman lmao
not trying to be rude... but that intro reminded me of that episode where the Coyote bought a batman suit to go after the road runner.
That intro
This is how the emblem should have been
Next project should be the Arkham Knight Batsuit
You should make it practical and and actual batsuit
Batman beyond would work more for your slender body
Do you think you've printed more than any other single hobbyist on the planet?
You compared Stark and Wayne!!
so? do you mean it's like comparing apples and pears because they're from DC and Marvel?
Could you make a Black Panther cosplay suit. I would love to see how it would turn out if you made one.
