I didn't know snarky puppy did stuff like this, I had only heard the mind blowing fusion work. This is just a GREAT song played with incredible delicacy and restraint, a real beauty.
Lucy Woodward was just absolutely AMAZING with this performance..The longing in her voice and just the pure emotion..I'll never stop coming back to this..
Was checking the lineups for the Playboy Jazz Festival in June and loved the name of this band but had never heard their music....go directly to UA-cam and find out that this is the best band I have heard in years...bought tickets that day..can't wait..just a great, amazing group of musicians.
Anyone loving this clip should order the DVD. I did (and also the earlier 'Ground Up'). They're accompanied also with a CD and additional free downloads. As much as I love watching these clips on my Mac, seeing this happening on big-screen TV and through a sound system is a whole - bigger, wider, louder and livelier experience. And hey, if you really want to support this tremendous band, spend a few bucks and get the real thing. Because this band is the Real Thing!
MrCherryJuice You're absolutely right! I purchased Culcha Vulcha on cd, and I saw them live last year. I plan on investing in some Snarky Puppy vinyl very soon. Sylva perhaps.
DAMN -- love you Lucy! So sorry missed you in Palm Springs last year. Terrible wind storms. My sister met you. Henry left ligthning fast. My sister and I followed him around EU. Symphonica. LOVE all of you. Snarky. ALL ! So much goodwill to you. XOXOxxoooo
Walking through a Barnes & Noble the other night and this started oozing out of the speakers overhead. I had no idea who it was, so I googled "too hot to last". Someone else wrote eargasmic... yep. There's just nothing about this that's not sexy. I had never heard of Snarky Puppy or Lucy Woodward, but I have Family Dinner 1&2 on the way from Amazon.
and don't buy from amazon please!! buy from the artists: Snarky Puppy have a great bandcamo site where you can buy all of their music. Amazon pays 0 tax in many places and has horrendous worker policies at the very least here in the UK, I'm quite sure elsewhere too.
This song is the epitome of musicianship. While not particularly complicated, the band is ON POINT, and FEELS what they are playing! Same with Lucy... A mastery of a vocal performance, from soft and sweet at the start, to loud and visceral at the end... I get chills every time!
Not sure why I never got around to the Family Dinner albums. This song is probably my favorite of the first album. Simple, beautiful, addictive. Great vocalist too.
Lucy Woodward is a very expressive vocalist. I like her it’s the first time I’ve seen her perform. Like Mark Lettieri she performed on Monkey House’s fabulous album, Friday released mid 2019.
Those Snarky feats are always quality ... Introducing to other artits by intricating their style with smooth Puppy harmony, Puppy rythme and Puppy composition. What they are doing for the music scene is on point.
Take it off and take me in I am not your friend It isn't hard to see the way this ends But I'm dying to begin Blame it on our past Blame it on our circumstance Say it sweet but say it fast We're a fire too hot to last I feel you feel me again Sweating through your skin I don't fear to lose, I don't hope to win I just want you to give in Blame it on our past Blame it on our circumstance Kiss me deep but kiss me fast We're a fire too hot to last We're a fire too hot to last We're a fire too hot to last We're a fire too hot to last We're a fire too hot to last
League on guitar, Lettieri on bass... "Rien ne va plus", place your bets, the cast is upside down ! >.< Great song, Lucy Woodward's got an amazing voice !
This recording is a timeless classic. Lucy Woodward is fantastic.
She is a great singer adding her voice to a great piece of music
THIS IS INSANELY GREAT MUSIC. MY WORD, THE FEELZ!
I didn't know snarky puppy did stuff like this, I had only heard the mind blowing fusion work. This is just a GREAT song played with incredible delicacy and restraint, a real beauty.
Snarky Puppy's 'Family Dinner' CD/DVD sets (Vol. 1 and more recently Vol. 2) feature guest vocalists and a diversity of styles.
I just keep comming back to hear this song almost every day, ever since i heard it for the first time few months ago
What can one say. Perfection ❤
the baritone guitars in this make me so happy!
Lucy Woodward was just absolutely AMAZING with this performance..The longing in her voice and just the pure emotion..I'll never stop coming back to this..
Goosebumps over 9000

Agreed!! I think I will order the DVD now haha
MrCherryJuice You're absolutely right! I purchased Culcha Vulcha on cd, and I saw them live last year. I plan on investing in some Snarky Puppy vinyl very soon. Sylva perhaps.
MrCherryJuice but you're aware you don't need the DVD to watch this on a big screen, though, right?
Nice! Agreed
What a voice! and that organ roar was everything!!!
A poignant ballad, sung with real beauty by Lucy. I keep revisiting this tune.

What a sound. A 90's feeling unique in your discography. The kind of sound that reminds me the alt rock scene
It's an Eastwood baritone guitar.

I will absolutely.

"Oozing". Perfect description. There is no other way to describe it accurately.
Loving your vocals Lucy! Great young players plus Snarky et al! Thank you!
This song is the epitome of musicianship. While not particularly complicated, the band is ON POINT, and FEELS what they are playing! Same with Lucy... A mastery of a vocal performance, from soft and sweet at the start, to loud and visceral at the end... I get chills every time!

They played this in Manchester last night. Incredible. Have never seen a better gig and never will until I see SP again.
The Chord progressions remind me of Zero 7. Melody Harmony with Just that extra something funk with bass oomph

I am not your friend
It isn't hard to see the way this ends
But I'm dying to begin
Blame it on our past
Blame it on our circumstance
Say it sweet but say it fast
We're a fire too hot to last
I feel you feel me again
Sweating through your skin
I don't fear to lose, I don't hope to win
I just want you to give in
Blame it on our past
Blame it on our circumstance
Kiss me deep but kiss me fast
We're a fire too hot to last
We're a fire too hot to last
We're a fire too hot to last
We're a fire too hot to last
We're a fire too hot to last
Gracias

You guys make the most interesting music! Can't get enough of it!
I love her raspy voice
I friggin loooooooooooove this song
Awesome! Amazing!
M. League is playing a baritone guitar. The middle 4 strings are thicker and tuned down... Very hip sound.
Craig Morrison I didn't even know that was a thing
They also have a baritone or bass clarinet in the brass section. Very very very innovative guys
On a baritone guitar, all of the strings are tuned down a fourth.
Ill get that same guitar on friday!! Excitet!!!!
you mean a Djent guitar?
I want to like this twice damit!
League on guitar, Lettieri on bass... "Rien ne va plus", place your bets, the cast is upside down ! >.<
Great song, Lucy Woodward's got an amazing voice !
This album is blowing my mind one track at a time
Excellent! Bravo!
I think I need to take a cold shower
That was beyond Beautiful.
There is no shower cold enough
That tremolo/vibrato Michael, just perfect
Michael League on guitar and Mark Letteri on bass?!
My thoughts exactly
Baritone guitar
