Just follow the bassline. Listen to what the keys are doing w/ respect to the bassline. He's going to outer space and around the galaxy while somehow still tethered to the song. Keep playing the bassline in your head after everybody cuts out. You'll get a glimpse of what Michael's face is doing.
This solo I find is even more impressive than the one on the album, and it was all improvised. Amazing leadership by Michael League to create this moment on the fly for Cory to shine. He clearly was in a flow state and needed time to finish the musical idea. Crazy that everyone knew how to react and let Cory play, to then come back from the solo in unison. Snarky Puppy is the greatest band of all time in my opinion
i'm not entirely sure what leads up to this but im pretty sure those 7 syncopated chords he plays in rapid succession at 10:53 are different voicings of Eb diminished 7th, moving up a minor third at a time (which includes all the same notes; Eb, Gb, A, C) which resolves super nicely up a half step to E minor, the 1 chord
I’ve watched this a lot since last year and I’m amazed ever time but here some things I didn’t notice 1. Credit who ever it was who saw Corey going to another place musically to tap mike league on the shoulder to give Corey that spot at the 10:17 mark to just play and how bad is mike league to talk to the guy while still playing on time and in key ...fantastic band
My life would be totally successful if only I could see them live even once. Cory's solo is the exact sound of my soul entering the heaven (if I ever be let in there)
That was just mind blowing! Cory never plays the same solo. Every time they perform this song he takes the solo to another level! Michael's face say's it all @ 10:20
The thing amaze me the most of the 10:10 solo part is that the incredible harmony comes up from the incredible phrasing of both hands, specially the lead one... Incredible
Man this is really cool to see this early version of this song and to see how it blew up the way it did. Amazing performance and record! One of the best in our lifetime for sure.
at 6:38, where Cory makes the echo perfectly line up in octaves with the line he plays... I'm surpised that didn't cause a paradox in the space-time continuum... ...or maybe it did? And it does everytime someone plays it back? Next dimension shit right there... 🙏🙏🙏
Cory and this song are one, man.... phew. Amazing to me that the people of this show hadn't even heard the album version yet and here they are witnessing this
sooooooo Cory just always invents and explores new dimensions of sound and music EVERY TIME he plays over the end of this!?!?!?! He is a wizard. Plus, the Chris Potter sit in solo. Hard to comprehend, but easy to hear!
as a consider myself somewhat of a musician, i couldn't understand nothing of this solo section of Cory But holy shit, that break was the most awesome thing i ever seen
The dude quoted Fly Like and Eagle…I mean, am I the only one who caught that? Seriously, this man is proof that aliens exist. No human on Earth can actually be this insane. What a masterpiece.
a stone in the garden of metronome unconditionnals.: starts around 132 and shifts to around 152 after this mad god-like improvisation. Ouch !!! Demands well trained musicians, especially for the brass section. the comparison with Coltrane is on point. Hail Cory Henry .
5/4 and 5/8...but who cares...this is awsome, and cory is makin what kenny kirkland did (this is not a comparison) with sting almost 20 years ago: inmortal piano/keyboard solos over music that people can really dance. keep on!
drumstudio2000 Don't forget Weather Report before that! You cannot talk of immortal keyboard solos over music that people danced to without mentioning them!
Is that Shaun Martin up there too!? Oh yes it is. My god the talent on that stage. This performance brings tears to this musicians eyes. Maybe it’s the music. Or maybe it’s because I know I’ll never be that good.
All I want in life is for someone to look at me the way Michael League looks at Cory Henry
😂😂😂
All you need to do is do something like what Cory Henry did in front of someone like Michael League, no easy task if you ask me.
Just call him
hahahaahahha yes!
😟😯😯😦
the only thing better than whatching a great Cory Henry solo is if you at the same time watch Michael reacting to it. priceless.
I came here to type exactly this.
Just follow the bassline. Listen to what the keys are doing w/ respect to the bassline. He's going to outer space and around the galaxy while somehow still tethered to the song. Keep playing the bassline in your head after everybody cuts out. You'll get a glimpse of what Michael's face is doing.
@@jamesperez-sanchez7573 I know to this comment but i just did what you said and my fucking mind is blown
So glad that Snarky Puppy showed up to the Cory Henry concert
😆😆😆
HAHAHAHA!!!! Right!
Snarky Puppy is the greatest band of all time in my opinion
omg that solo is a must see at least once in a lifetime for everyone
more like everyday in a lifetime
I am still wondering how Corey found his way back out of that solo to make that break… that was seriously crazy
ong
I haven’t been able to figure that out.
i'm not entirely sure what leads up to this but im pretty sure those 7 syncopated chords he plays in rapid succession at 10:53 are different voicings of Eb diminished 7th, moving up a minor third at a time (which includes all the same notes; Eb, Gb, A, C) which resolves super nicely up a half step to E minor, the 1 chord
he might wanna end his solo there but it caught the band off guard so mike had to cue back the chorus a bit later.
Autism?
That Solo was straight worship...Cory just invited us in!!!! Insane!!!
No, this wasn't worship and how dare you compare the incomparable presence of God to something as trivial as an impressive solo, stop it.
That dude is anointed. Cory is using the gifts God gave him to bring heaven just a bit closer. Unreal work.
@@KyleHurd Worship is in many forms. Just like you are a special kind of self-righteous jerk.

wait til @@KyleHurd learns about gospel music
10:55 LMAO SHAUN MARTIN JUST WALKS IN AND STARTS PLAYING
"Oh there's a beat drop? Gimme a sec"
lol completely missed that.
for christ sake how i just found that 10 years afther? my brain melted 4 real, i smoked a joint after a while and played this, got me chills
@5:19 "Hey Cory buddy, I gotta rock a mean piss. Can you make this one extra long?"
Holy shit ahahah 😂😂
Hahahaha
wait that might be real
i love it when we can actually hear the bass
Same dude it’s so good
No idea where in the cosmos a soul like Cory could come from but sure am glad he decided to stay for a while.
Low key the best solo I’ve ever heard him do for this song, absolute insanity
The amount of love that Cory Feels when he plays... It makes you cry, it heals your wounds. This soul awakens the spirit!
Cory's solo is the exact sound of my soul entering the heaven (if I ever be let in there)
There"s only one way to get there. You can have that assurance!
That was just mind blowing! Cory never plays the same solo. Every time they perform this song he takes the solo to another level! Michael's face say's it all @ 10:20
Loving Michael's face as he hears the awesome substitutions going on! Total musicianship!
Cory plays like his left and right hands have their own brains. God mode playing
For me it's the best Cory's solo in Lingus ever. So fresh and full of ideas.
So epically awesome that it makes me cry every time, right when the band comes back in after Corey’s indescribably mindblowing solo. 👍❤👍
the utter joy on Michael's face at 5:47 is every single one of us.
I'm looking up as many different live takes of this as possible and Corey smashes it EVERY time and in different ways!! Such a gifted young talent!
On my opinion Cory's solo is the most important thing in jazz after Coltrane's Giant Steps!
How lucky we all are to hear this!?!?!?! Peace&Love
The thing amaze me the most of the 10:10 solo part is that the incredible harmony comes up from the incredible phrasing of both hands, specially the lead one... Incredible
10:10 - 10:57 JESUS CORY!!!
Blake smith How about just JESUS CORY for the entire solo lol but that part was dope as shit!
It is his Johann Sebastian Bach moment.
Cory must have went to the Chick Corea school of keyboard wizardry.
His phrasing is too similar to not have studied Chicks music.
he did
@@@LoopGoop22: I believe that every keyboardist has studied Chick at some point...
I think he has absorbed and integrated almost everything there is to check out. Like A true Wizard.
Man this is really cool to see this early version of this song and to see how it blew up the way it did. Amazing performance and record! One of the best in our lifetime for sure.
Cory Henry is a gift. I cannot believe how different the solo is every time, and this one was really special.
One of the most impressive jazz solo in all history. Cory Henry has something new to say!
This is the best Cory solo i’ve ever watched. Just insane.
Just my opinion!!!
I think this is one of his hardest lingus solos
their all different and amazing lmao
i was high asf when i first watched it and i fell to the floor out of pure supplication icredible experience

I swear Corey Henry is an alien in human firm and he doesn't know it!!! the things he play is amazing!!! I have never heard him repeat himself!!!
Human brain has been replaced. Cory Henry is now operating collectively on AI
this solo nearly brought tears to my eyes 😭
Whoever got Michael's attention and told him to call the band to cut for Cory deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.
10:10-10:57 feels like we've entered into a personal worship experience. My God, all I could do is lift my hands.
Pure ministry on the keys
I understand, thanks a mil for posting bro. I think you captured a beautiful moment of free flowing music with Corey in full flight.
HOLY FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF - insane writing w insane players and insaaaane solo. what could possibly be better?
i love how there's so many versions of this up here
Holy cow... Sput on drums too? Oh my goodness. Cory's sense of improvisation is absolutely unmatched.
These guys are already in another dimension ... Amazing!
So this is how it feels to travel Intergalactically!!
I just had the incredible to hear this solo for the first time today.
I bet some of y'all are pretty jealous right now 😂
Anyone notice how the beer bottles synced perfectly with cory's solo ? This is nuts 7:49
As soon as I heard it, I was like “Who mic’d the beer bottle?!”
U genius...for noticing
That’s destined by god apparently
Best show I’ve ever been to. I miss the Denton days.
It's been 8yrs now .... Still in love with Lingus.
Cory Henry- That was an INSANE execution !
Love this entire band !! Horns are always ripping !
the best part of the drop is shaun martin just walks in, in the right moment and starts playing like nothing happened 10:53
Cory Henry is from another planet! My God!!!!
I believe it's mostly 5/4 up until they break down for Corey's solo and then it's 4/4 all the way till the end,
Awesome band. Awesome audience. Everyone’s just bobbing along and having a good time
the vibe from the crowd is crazy
Cory and this song are one, man.... phew. Amazing to me that the people of this show hadn't even heard the album version yet and here they are witnessing this
r.i.p. Shaun Martin - gone too soon at just 45
~Comment about time signatures~
~pretentious rebuttal about how that section isn't in 19/4 but rather 17/13 with a 3 sixtheenth note turnaround accent~
wish i could tell you.... lol
5/2 for the first part ... then 5/4 ... no need to look for something more complicated
Sarcasm is very complicated
That's what i'm talking about :)
knowing when you Bandee is On One & letting it go is always a great moment. too cool, fellas. too cool
I can't believe I missed Corey in my hometown.
how could you????? :O
10:10 to 10:57 OMG... THERE JUST ARENT ANY WORDS... GENIUS WOULD INSULT HIM LOL
Corey henry’s musical intelligence and creativity is only matched by artists like krantz or schofield. A true god and master of music.
Man I could watch this on repeat all day
the best... they were here in richmond Va 2/2/14 and they had us in tear from the movement...awesome 1st time hearing them live.....
Best of the best of this solo! Lit! I was frowning my face in ecstasy!!!!

There is amazing... And then there is this.
Ahhh beautiful! Such a great keyboard player!

He's another breed, wow.
Those sick transitions, I mean ... unbelievable!
Such a pleasure to witness true mastery! Thanks for posting
the 5 people that disliked this...explain yourselves!!
You’d be surprised at how often people accidentally press the thumbs up/down without realizing it.
Everyone mingling, now at Snarky, so quiet because everyone is listening and jamming along
Had to come give this video some love after I saw a clip of it stolen on Instagram! 🙌
5/4 and 5/8...but who cares...this is awsome, and cory is makin what kenny kirkland did (this is not a comparison) with sting almost 20 years ago: inmortal piano/keyboard solos over music that people can really dance. keep on!

Cory let God speak that last break down!!
That lick at 9:04 is so profound

Y’all sound amazing and Cory is a beast 💯
Love watching Corey channelling his higher power being free
Is that Shaun Martin up there too!? Oh yes it is. My god the talent on that stage. This performance brings tears to this musicians eyes. Maybe it’s the music. Or maybe it’s because I know I’ll never be that good.

^_^ at 2:35, bold move from the percussionist

This is my favorite one of his. Even more than the one in Utrecht.

humble begginings!💕
Michael: "Okay, we're playing in Emin tonight"
Corey: "Hold my beer."'
