Yes, we never know what we might encounter on even the simplest of rides... this was an epic fail but also a good story. I glad you enjoyed a 12 minute video on a 2 mile ride! :-) hahahhaha thanks for watching! Bob
Would have been a good test having a Seadoo out there with IDF to test it out. I am 50/50 on if it would have cleared this mess. :-) Thanks for watching!
One thing about riding jets in weeds it has to be full throttle an jet trim down. If starting in shallow water sit as far foward as possible trim down an full throttle just pin it! Hopefully it will help
Hahahahahahha that’s good advice Jeff… This was not our first rodeo …. We just picked the wrong arena that day! 😎👍 I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Those are SureCans…. Not cheap but the best 5 gallon container out there… you don’t have to pour from a nozzle … gravity drains it out a tube T the bottom… you control the fuel flow…. Amazon and other retainers… search SureCan… thanks for watching! Bob
My experience is that while there can be some gators out in the middle of those Florida lakes during the daytime, the majority of the time they seem to prefer the shore areas or around docks. I remember sitting on a dock off Lake Okeechobee watching the sunset and just watching dozens of gators leaving the shore area to head out for their night feeding. Yeah, we’ll, of course there’s always gonna be one or two out in the middle of the lake at the same time you’re trying to rip hydrilla out of the intake, but in general, they don’t want to mess with you unless you kick at it or you’re near its nest. Famous last words - Mike
You are generally correct; in lake Toho they are everywhere...Shawn found a video of some hunters pulling big ones out of the area we were stuck in close to shore...remember we never got more than .2 miles from shore! hahahhahahahahha You are right, I have never had a gator be anything but afraid of me and the waverunner; I just don't want to run into the one courageous alligator in Florida. :-)
Great video! I really appreciate that. You show us what real life looks like on a WaveRunner. My wife and I have our own list of experiences we’ve learned the hard way. Can you comment or send me the name of the 360 camera you use on the back of the WaveRunner? I’m sure you’ve posted it somewhere but I’ve looked back through comments on previous videos and I can’t find it.
Thanks for watching.... yes that is real life! hahahhaha.... It is the Insta360 Camera - do that search and you will find the site. It takes 360 degree videos and the makes the selfie stick invisible Bob
@@BobBroeking did you buy a selfie stick with an attachment for your WaveRunner or did you make something else? I’ve got a Yamaha FXHO 2023 with a rec deck on the back. Just wondering what you have it held up with
@@PaulSpeedWITMinistries I have a Shorlock cargo rack with flag pole holder so I just secure the selfie stick in the flag pole holder. Alternatively I have also just stuck the selfie stick down in my PFD and I almost get the same shot. In my next video you will see that method and the shot it gives… you just need something in the back you can secure the base of the selfie pole in or attach it to something (seat handle) you don’t want to lose it though! $! 😎 I use the Insta350 36" selfie stick
I wonder if the grass was more prominent during this time of year of if that lake is always like that. Gators love to hang out in that thick stuff, no thank you. That lake is off my ride-along list lol.
No, that would be more in the summer.... this lake is ALWAYS like this and we should not have attempted it....except for the resulting humor it gave us! I will not take you there... :-) Bob
It made for a good story and laugh afterwards. Tracy Danny and Shawn tried to go to another chain of lakes while I headed home. That location was closed due to high water so they struck out.
I'll stick to Narragansett Bay, and the Southern New England Coast. Nice water, no locks, no hydrilla, no green algae, and above all, no gators! Sorry about your day, but you do have a good story to tell.
No tools needed really, you just have to reach under there and grab and tug until it comes loose; usually after tugging you will get the whole basketball sized clump to float free.
@@JasonGolf if it goes deeper and sticks in the impeller you are dead in the water. Some carry a metal rod like tool to try and clear it but if you are on the water you are doing it blind and just poking a metal tool all around in there… not good in my opinion… that’s why we all carry tow ropes. Better to try and clear impeller while it’s sitting on the trailer. Never had that happen.
I have to make fun of you all. Not for the first attempt nothing you could do about that as you did not know the terrain. Sometimes you have to take risks for new adventures. But what were you thinking, going out again after two Waverunners got clogged in the first couple hundred yards?
Well................... we had this plan see, was going to be over 100+ miles; we had all this gas loaded on the back..... we thought if we could get out into the lake proper we could begin our journey.... ok, I have run out of reasons or excuses..... we are just adventurers! :-)
Bob. This is hard to watch. Don't you have a depth finder 😢? Why on earth would anyone try to take a waverunner over that crap? Can't be more than 3 ft? It's asinine. Very disappointing. At least I can watch this train wreck as further education of WHAT NOT TO DO. If anyone needed that.😅
You ask some good questions and they were all answered in the first minute of the video by me. We all have depth finders, we were in about 7 - 9' of water and 6 1/2 - 8 1/2 feet of hydrilla. Depth finders tell you water depth, not weed depth. We had zero intel on this particular lake and I do not know if this is the first video you have watched on my channel but we do adventure touring and we often do not know what we will encounter until we encounter it. Thanks for watching even though it was hard! lol
Great vid!
It was one of my greatest failures! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! 😂

Yeah usually I am quicker on the uptake.... did I mention I was not the leader of this trip? lol! Thanks for watching!
I always get stuck there lol, you're not the only one
I say I'll never go back there....🙂
Is Tracy from Duck Key, FL?.........left ya'll stranded!........LOL. I know the feeling
Are you saying he would do well down there; I could have made your stranding an epic video as well! :-)
@Bob Broeking mine was not as entertaining as Tracy riding off 🤣
Tracy rides in the swamps with me so he knows the #1 rule. Never ever stop your ski!
Yes he executed that heartless rule very well that day! :-) I made the mistake in caring for my fellow man....
@@BobBroeking 😆 🤣 😂
Bob I'm glad we got you to test out the environments for us lol. Once again going places I would never go
Yes, do NOT go there! What were we thinking? Seemed like a good plan leaving the marina....
