I would cut off the plastic clips that come on the tow rope in the seadoo kit. Put on metal snap hooks or something. I bought one when I got my ski in 2018. The first time I used it to tow, one of the plastic hooks broke. Granted I was towing a small boat, but still, you never know who you are going to help on the water.
A signal flag and a signal mirror are also good, even in inland waters.
Having a dedicated heaving line in a throw bag, and using it only for rescue is a good thing to have. Doesn’t take up any space, and can save a life. Do not use it for towing or anything else except water rescue. They are cheap. So is a throwable PFD, can get them for under 20 bucks. If boating in popular areas, it handy to have incase of someone else in the water.
I carry about 2 different first aid kits on my ski. One of the small ones in the little case and then another one that I keep in the dry storage under the seat that is larger.
A good flashlight is always good, not the cheap one that comes in the kits.
I gave up carrying dock bumpers. It’s a toy, it’s going to get beat up even with the bumpers.
Having a pen or sharpie, in its own bag incase it leaks, along with keeping a small post it pad is also good incase you need to write something down, like in the event of an accident.
Sunscreen is also a must, and lip protection, something with high SPF. Good cheap glasses you don’t care if you loose them, and maybe a floating glasses lanyard for them.
Extra PWC key in the tool kit.
If you don’t have a way to charge your phone, a battery pack and cable for your phone.
A small battery booster pack is helpful to have too.
If doing off coast rides, a marine radio, a handheld floating one, and even a locator beacon if needed and you can afford the extra costs.
A towel or two in a dry bag and an extra hat is also nice.
Everything except for the beacon and radio should be a must for all PWC owners.
Lake Powell is one place I want to go. But I love Lake Havasu. And I am in So Cal.

I would add taking your phone, a marine radio, and wallet w credit card on every outing. If you need a tow, marine radio and credit card is essential. If you get a marine radio, get an MMSI# and make sure the radio supports DSC/AIS

I love how the US Coast Guard requires you to have a fire extinguisher on a personal watercraft. Like I am going to use it when I am standing on something so small... I am going to jump off and let that b**** burn. If I am lucky I might jump off the side so it rolls over and has a chance of putting the fire out. If I am unlucky I am probably going to be thrown from the thing anyway and dont have to worry about burning with the thing.

In U.S. coastal waters and in the Great Lakes you are required to carry an orange Coast Guard approved distress flag. Some states including Ohio and New York require it on any lake. The fire extinguisher should say "Coast Guard Approved" on it. I've seen the Coast Guard conduct safety checks on boats, haven't seen them stop a PWC yet, but if they stop you, you need to be able to produce all required equipment.

Whistel isn't not requrired in all states. When I bought my Spark in McKinney they dropped that ball on me about a whistle and the Game Warden does check if they pull you over. In my 19 years riding in California, Arizona and Nevada a whistle has never been required.
I just bought a Jetblaster in Long Beach Califorina and in CA even to this day a whistle is not required, HOWEVER all persons who operate a vessel must have a watercraft licence (I forget what year but even at 35 I'm soon to not be exempt for that).
In short, always look up your local and state laws, Oh and though I'm back in Arizona I still Ride with a whistle.

Thank you 🙏🏼☺️💪… just some things I do when traveling with my skis are: check satellite view of hotel parking lots to make sure there is good parking and doesn’t look sketchy, Jack knife the trailer in a weird visible spot to make it hard for someone to take it if possible, lock the tongue latch, add another cable lock to the trailer from truck, wheel chalk lock, and if we want to go extra cable lock our trailers to other friends. 😏…
If someone really wants to steal your ski/trailer they will even with all the locks and stuff but it sure is a deterrent and I’m not gonna make it easy for them. 😂

I second the cable lock for the ski to the trailer.
Look into the Bolt brand locks. You key them when you buy them to your vehicle. It’s helpful if you only have one tow vehicle.
But they make padlocks, cable locks, tongue locks, trailer hitch locks and actual hitch pin locks for the receiver. You buy the lock for your brand vehicle and style of key, and key each one to your ignition key, or the back up key that’s on the fob if it’s push to start.
Its a vehicle key, not a generic hitch pin key or trailer key or padlock key so it’s a little bit harder to pick or rake using similar keys.
It allows you to use more locks on your stuff, without needed to have extra keys to carry or lose, or sit there and go through keys until you find the one that works if they all look the same.
Any lock can be broken or cut off, it just depends on how much time someone has to do it. Make it harder with everything locked up and it may deter them.
But like what was said if staying at a hotel, always look at the parking lot, and when you get there try to find a parking spot that allows you to be close to the building and then ask if they have any rooms right there. Or ask where other rooms are that offer another view of a different area you can change to.
See if you tow vehicle has any type of things in the setting menu for trailer. A few vehicles have a way to enable a feature so if the trailer is unplugged when the vehicle is locked, it will set off the car alarm, I think it’s mostly if you are using a 7-way plug. It sends out small voltage in the wiring circuit and when it reads it dropped, it will set off the alarm. I know only a few do it though.
You can also get boots for the tires like parking enforcement uses, you have to get ones that cover the lug nuts though.
Always lock up the security chains, even with a tongue lock, they can just jack up the trailer hook the chains to their vehicle tight, and lower the trailer so it rests on the chains, like it’s intended purpose and then drive it out of the area and then cut off locks or whatever they need to there.
The only time a trailer is it’s most secure is when it’s locked to the towing vehicle, and even then it’s not that secure.
A cheap cheap cheap route, is to place those stupid door wedge alarms on each side of each tire and wedge them under the tire. The won’t be noticed, but may set off if the trailer is moved a little over them. It maybe enough of a sound to scare them, or at least hopefully you would be close enough to hear it that you can see as it’s driving away and have a jump on the theft.
When it’s parked over night, put a tracker tag like an AirTag or something hidden on the ski. I say ski and not trailer because 3-4 guys can lift up a ski and slide it in to the bed of a truck or onto another trailer.
Having a cable lock on each the bow hook and the rear transom hook is a good way to stop it or slow it down.
If someone wants something they will get it, but they have to work for it. Theft is a crime of opportunity. The more they have to work for it, the less likely they will try, they don’t want to spend 5-10 minutes using cutters and power tools when they can just go to somewhere else and spend 30 seconds with something not locked.

Lake Powell? Better hurry that lake is gonna run out of water pretty soon. Right now, it is at 34% and dropping. Beautiful lake if you can get into some of the back canyons.

That’s all great stuff to carry I’d also probably carry a rechargeable battery bank, a fire starter block with a good lighter and in the first aid ⛑ kit make sure it has quite a few alcohol wipes which can also help if you need to start a fire 🔥 if stuck some where overnight

What is this "YALL"? What is that? Also, you keep mentioning Jet Skis, what about Wave-Runners? Why would you need a whistle? Do lots of people bring dogs with them? Just wandering why you need a fire extinguishers since you would have lots of water around to put out a fire in that event? Why are people so consumed with losing their skis. Just keep an eye on your things, be responsible, and you will not misplace your skis. Just put your skis in the back of your truck or in your garage, you won't lose them. I don't like waterskiiing myself. If you aren't responsible, bring a parent along.

How about an understanding that everyone doesn’t enjoy your pointless loud toys? See some folks camping in a secluded cove? Maybe don’t spend the whole day tearing around wasting gas ruining their peace? Busy channel full of boats? Maybe don’t go weaving high speed through everything? I guess what I’m saying is out respect for others on the list
