  • The time has come to finally sort out the plants in the grow tent. I've had a couple of bad outbreaks of spider mite that have unfortunately damaged some plants to the point where they cant be saved. We'll be potting most of the plants up into some new pots and substrate, as well as dealing with the pesky mites. Enjoy! :)

    Wow that's a lot of seedlings to pot up!!! It's going to look like a small cactus nursery once you get them all potted!!! Yeah, I had quite a run with the spidermites this summer!!! My lophos got them, the frailia you sent and quite a few others. I finally sprayed them all with systemic insecticide. Seems to have worked pretty good except on scale & opuntias. I think the skin must be a bit thick for it to absorb well. May just water them with it. Our weather is freezing up on us. This morning was 28°F. Our first killing frost. Tonight in the mid 20s. Wednesday it will drop down to 19 that morning!! We're in it already!! Thanks for sharing Daz!!! Hope you beat those little beasties!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to the UK 🇬🇧 and Singapore 🇸🇬 have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!! ✌️💖🌵🌸🌹🌴🌷🪴🌿💐🌳🍀🌱🌻🌾😃👍

      Thank you so much, Clyde 😊 Sorry you’ve had issues with mites as well, they’ve been a real pain this year for quite a few people it seems. The alcohol and soap mixture is working well for me, though. Temperatures here aren’t too bad but we got quite a major wind storm approaching in the next few days, just hoping my greenhouse will be okay. Thank you for watching and commenting my friend. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself to you and Deb 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜

    Wonderful to see that the alcohol and horticultural soap does the trick😊👍I also had mites do their damage to some cacti. I notice that they leave most Gymnocalycium and Echinopsis alone. They must have a hard epidermis. I enjoyed watching and great progress with the cacti😊🤲💞

      Thank you so much, Newman 😊 It was mostly Gymnocalycium they fed on in the grow tent for me, and the Frailea. The alcohol and soap is working well, though. Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day and week from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌸🌼🌺🏜

Enjoyed watching with you as always too, babe. Thank you for all your love, support and encouragement ❤️🌸🤗😘🌺❤️

    WOW AWESOME video potting up your seedling beauties, but so sorry you lost some to spider mites, argh Spider mites are the pain of my life, and I have lost quite a few cactus seedlings this year due to spider mites too, but thankfully they have left the obesa x symmeticas alone and they are growing really amazing, your seedlings are all gorgeous and you have an amazing collection of them, thats fantastic with the rubbing alcohol and hort soap together, thanks so much for sharing the awesome update and potting up with us Daz, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a brilliant new week XXXX

    Looking good all repotted, and what a big job to repot them all.
    The Lophophora are looking lovely sizes and they outgrew the mite damage quickly. You have very beautiful cactus raised from seed so despite the casualties they are doing amazingly well.
    The price of potting substrates has definitely got expensive and I've also been mixing up a different mix of mediums in meantime to use, I still have a huge sack of molar clay which I'm using again as pumice is pricey.
    Whatever does the job 😀
    Look forward to your updates on the young cactus. 🕷Happy Halloween 🎃🎇

    Great video, Daz! That's a wonderful collection of seedlings that you have coming there in your grow tent! Sorry about the spider mite damages, but as you say, quite a lot of the seedlings will be just fine. It is always amazing to see how quickly strong plants (and most of yours seem very well rooted and strong!) will actually recover from these nasty spider mite damages...it ususally looks far worse than it is and the scars are all quickly grown over after a few months! Thanks for sharing, my friend, and very best regards to you and Edith, enjoy the rest of your Sunday! 🌵🌵🌵👍💚😊🌸🏵🌺🌼🌵

    I now have over 120 pots of seedlings in my tent, if it all goes well i will be in big trouble in a year or two :D about 1 and 2 months in, without any major issues! When do you repot the faster growing seedlings ? i was gona wate a year, but some of these pots are allready crowded, specially the astrophytum myriostigma. Best regards mate :)

    • @Cactimania
      @Cactimania  25 днів тому +1

      Thank you, Gary. I have all the vents open on the grow tent. I think what keeps it down in mine the most is the oscillating floor fan. It’s also dependent on the weather as well. 50 to 60% is perfectly fine for cactus fyi. mine is basically like that all winter and most summer nights it hits 80+ % airflow is all that matters. (winter i never let my cacti go dormant.)
