Yu-Gi-Oh! (Japanese: 遊☆戯☆王, Hepburn: Yū-Gi-Ō!, lit. 'Game King') is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi. It was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine between September 1996 and March 2004. The plot follows the story of a boy named Yugi Mutou, who solves the ancient Millennium Puzzle. Yugi awakens a gambling alter-ego or spirit within his body that solves his conflicts using various games.

The only thing I’d want is keeping Pegasus alive like in the OG Duel Monsters anime due to his relevance in the movies and filler arcs. Does it throw a wrench in R’s plot? Kind of. But just switch it to Yako wanting to revive Cecelia. After all, as Pegasus’ wife, she was likely Yako, Depre, Richie and Gekko’s adoptive mother. And Waking the Dragons is too iconic of a filler to do away with. I do think Virtual World, Grand Championship and Capsule Monsters are a bit superfluous, but they’re fun! Keep them in!

Hard agree, plus it'd be a good chance to clean them up a bit. Joey's final duel of the series should not have been a jobber match imo

We really shouldn't mush together the anime and manga content, they are great individually but don't work too well together.
@@lpfan4491 Aside from the death of Pegasus, there is no massive divergence between the anime and manga that can’t be smoothed out. And even then, Pegasus’ death only affects the plot of R, which is a spin-off. And like I said, by making the target of the resurrection Cecelia and not Pegasus, him being alive doesn’t really matter.
I think this is kinda why Konami made its own animation studio with that animation reel recently… they cooking something. All that work and attention to detail must have a reason to be there aside from “hey, we can do it too”.
As if Konami would give us anything in this regard. They are the ones to give us the rewritten localizations and were clearly distancing themselves from Takahashi's work to a degree.
Yugioh's manga can be done without the violence easily.
They did it when Bandit Keith fell through a trap hole as opposed to being hypnotized into thinking his hand was a gun. Personally, I would've hypnotized him into believing he was dueling Pegasus again and losing, over and over again, until he goes insane.
I kind of wish there's a separate actual Yu-Gi-Oh series where it stays true to the title, Yu-Gi-Oh, translated as "King of Games", hence why Season 0 or the first parts of the manga is centered around various amounts of games, because Atem is supposed to be good at EVERY game and not just Duel Monsters.
Time for a Toei anime-remake that goes completely off the map compared to the manga source material.
It would be interesting to see a remake of the original series with modern rules and cards while only using fusion monsters in the extra deck.
As much as it would be amazing if we got a more faithful remake of OG YGO. I doubt Konami will ever do it.
It's just more profitable to have an original anime that promotes the new cards and game mechanics, than reanimating old stuff (some of which doesn't even have card games in it).
Perhaps they'll do it eventually, but they would definitely rush through the first 50~ chapters to get to Duelist Kingdom.
If Yu-Gi-Oh was made in 2024 it would suck much like the modern card game matches lasting only one turn.
It's not like there is a yugioh manga about the modern game with duels lasted 4-7 turns.
Fun fact: the writers can write however they want. Example: Infernoble Knight vs Rescue-Ace match in OCG Structures, the MC had hand for Isolde, didn't get interrupted by any handtrap, and he still only made 1x Link 1 Emperor Charles. To put this into perspective, Infernoble made functionally FTK boards irl. The writters did this to achieve 2 things:
+ Showcasing Turbulence setting 4 from deck
+ Showcasing Infernoble playing through 4 disruptions.
DM era did that too. If Yu-Gi-Oh was made in 1999, the Rare Hunter's duel with exodia wouldn't be a match.
I personally would like a new Yugioh series with more emphasis on storytelling and instead of trying to add something new. Let me explain...
While all the Yugioh series are great in their own right, I think what made DM (and to an extent GX) special is that even though it acted like an ad for cards, it's top priority was storytelling. I would like a series to try something similar to it so in a way, it has some generational value.

A somewhat big issue with anything DM or manga related is that the japanese VA of Yugi and Yami is appearently really hard to get. Appearently it is some kind of licensing nightmare and it even made it difficult for some releases of the DM anime to be made in the past.
Though yeah, the actual manga adaptation...as much as I wish it to happen, it probably never had a chance and won't ever happen? This IP is very cooked in a lot of ways.(Also, the Toei anime is not manga accurate at all, that remains a very annoying myth)
That's kinda ironic to think about when you consider how easily Shueisha or Konami can ring up Dan Green and Eric Stuart in the dubbed to do voice-over for anything Yu-Gi-Oh! related

Well, i guess that it would be heavily censored, even more than the original series, to consider that in this times, the censoreship become far more strict, and overreacted in general.
yugioh can evolve in 2024.
Violence was only an issue for network tv. I doubt there's a lot of Christian moms that heard of crunchy roll.
No if we were to make a new anime going from vrains we don’t reboot we mess Arc5 had a lot of weird decisions but prone among them was the multiverse angle instead we go back to yugioh prime the universe where these mechanics live together we aren’t peddling a new gimmick we are celebrating yugioh as a whole
Instead of having the cast all use the same mechanics we have them focus on one we could make it a school anime like GX bit focus it as a school with lectures and demonstrations the students have there decks but they aren’t limited by them they are free to switch cards or need to build around the current topic, also we have them use loaner decks similar to master duel sure you can link with the best of them but can you pivot to an XYZ deck if you need to maybe bring out the potential of a Gemini monster to give you victory
Not only will this allow for a steady introduction to the harder mechanics for new viewers but it can be used to display important interactions like hand traps and the best place to ask against a certain deck
Whine were at it we need to keep the returnees attention so let’s have some old archetypes in there give sone a ghost trick deck or since the setting is like GX how about vampires since it has massively expanded since GX
Not only that but we can easily introduce new support for these cards so we can still sling product
Maybe someone with a pet allergy gravitates to purrely because they can’t get a real animal
A zombie toolbox deck is also a great call very personalisable, has been rouge for years and lets us reference red-eyes
Also keep it grounded down feel like you need the characters to save the works every season instead have them stress about exams, try to excel in class by adding in cards to oppose cards that counter your deck, hace festivals similar to MD where they gave to build around restrictions and have time wizard events or rush duels if we want to add them in
There’s so much you can do with these ideas and I would love this more grounded approach
Hmmm I don’t trust them to make a good show w out takahashi tbh. As much as I want a show like this to be made with love and care that’s unlikely. It’s likely to be greed. Sort of like how I don’t trust SpongeBob after Stephen Hillenburgs passing. They’ll flop and do character assassination all over the place to milk the cash cow for all its worth. Even the anime didn’t adapt the characters correctly (made Kaiba less fun/cut death-t (just look at the Kaiba vs Gun scene in manga vs anime), made jounouchi super weak and lose instantly to keith, what they did to Mai)
Whatever they think fans will eat up theyrll do, so it’ll probably be some lame pandering fanservice. I just don’t trust them
