In this video I show how I plant, grow, harvest, can and cook pinto beans. Home grown pinto beans have a great flavor, nothing like store bought pinto beans, so much better.
RECIPE FOR CORNBREAD (half recipe) (as follows)
    1/2 cup cornmeal
    1/2 cup All Purpose flour
    1/2 Tbsp baking powder
    1 Teasp sugar
    1/4 Teasp salt
    1/4 Teasp baking soda
    2/3 cup butter milk
    1/2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
    1 egg
    3 Tbsp butter melted
Mix all dry ingredients, add wet ingredients, mix well, pour into baking pan.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes

*_ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: THESE ARE NOT DRY BEANS, THEY ARE SHELL OUT STAGE BEANS. DRY BEANS ARE CANNED DIFFERENT. Process pints for 40 minutes and quarts for 50 minutes._*

I dont understand. Does shell out beans mean they are not ripe? I thought yellow meant ripe?
Where the dry ones you did can called dry beans? Are those better stored as dried beans?

@@kageoashj2912 Shell out means the beans are mature, but not dry yet. No, in this video, the beans I canned were shell out beans. Thank you for watching my videos. If you haven't yet, pease subscribe.

There's that Happy Dance we love so well!! Charles I tip my hat to you and thank you for sharing this. My Mom and her kin always spoke fondly about a pot of pinto beans as being a true Southern Delight to our friends and family up North. Cornbread and a Piccalilli with a tall glass of ICE cold buttermilk completed a perfect meal to them. My Mom has been gone 11 years this month and I felt her pleasure all over again while watching this video. Thank you for rekindling such a special memory. Time for me to get a pot going!

Your beans look beautiful, both in the pods and in the jars. My Dad (83 this coming April) was a middle child of Appalachian family of 12. He says his mother cooked a huge pot of pintos every day. He could not remember a day when they didn’t have pintos, potatoes, usually cooked cabbage and corn bread. That’s still one of his favorite meals. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us on here. Melody B in NC

Your Dad and I grew up during the same times. And life was so much different back then. Mostly what we had to eat was country food, much of which we had grown our selves. I know we can't go back, but life was better then. Thank you for watching my videos and for commenting. Please subscribe.
