Porsche 911 Carrera T Review: Just about perfect

- Is the Porsche 911 Carrera T really a more purist take on the Carrera, or is it just a marketing exercise? That's the question Vicky Parrott sets out to answer in this CarGurus UK review.
The T uses the standard Carrera's 379bhp flat-six twin-turbocharged engine, but this time combined with a seven-speed manual gearbox, a mechanical limited-slip differential, and various weight-saving measures to deliver a slightly different take on the 911 formula. The idea behind it is to give buyers all the goodness of the standard Carrera but with some some added GT edginess. Expect 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, a 182mph top speed, and a driving experience to truly savour.

Got my Carrera T allocation two weeks ago. Builds in March, delivers in May. Racing Yellow!
991.2 T owner here. Love it.
I have just taken delivery of my T. This reviewer has certanily captured why I love mine so much. It is just so much fun on public roads and fact of the matter is very few people track their cars so why get a car with power you will never use.
Do you find the ride too crashy compared to the base?
@@kerosenefilms It is a firm ride but not uncomfortable. The frame is so stiff that it seems to glide over the bumps. I used to own a BMW M2 that was very stiff but felt harsher. Probably a combination of all the weight in the front and a weaker 2-series structure that was reinforced. The base Carrera with the PDK and softer suspension feels like a luxury sedan unless you push it. In the T you know you are in a sports car even when you are moving down your driveway at a crawl.
@@robertlevasseur6843 Thanks. I had a base 992. Thinking of getting back into a 911. After hip surgery, I definitely prefer a more compliant ride. I do miss that 992.
A very well done review. I really like her presentation style. Makes a solid case for the T versus some of the other 992 variants.
ditto, need more female energy in these discussions and reviews, love it.
first time in your channel, love it!!!!
Excellent review 👍
Nice review Vicky, just a small correction in that you can spec a Carrera T with a PDK if someone wanted.
Nice colour ...
This Carrera T reminds me of the SC’s of the late 80’s. If you need it explaining to you, it isn’t for you!!! 😍😍😍
The 1987-88 3.2 Club Sport is the real spiritual successor to the 992 T.
@@nickstillo560 that probably what I meant Nick. Same principle though! 😅
she is brilliant at describing how the car feels.
It feels overpriced to me
I have been a 911 enthusiast since the early 80s. Every version of the car was viewed as overpriced until you drove it. Same goes for the current generation.
All black trimmings again though.
Can you spec a T or a GTS ( along with Macan and other models) with "normal" or grey wheels and chrome window and other trimmings?
This review nicely captures the essence of the car. Love My T. Got it delivered to me at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, drove it back to DC through Tail of the Dragon and other great roads. Once in a lifetime experience!
The Best review of a T I have watched Ta,
Have you watched any others?
It's kind of implied by "the best I have watched"@@MrSchn3ll ... don't be an internet pedant
Great review! An incredible car this Carrera T
I would option the seats back in.
Great review...beautiful car.
"you can only have it in manual" ....... not correct
i gotta manual 1.6 Mini - it's a little go- cart - naturally aspirated so sounds ok - great fun to drive - cheap to run and insure too.......happy days.
.... thanks for that...
I have one and it’s just about perfect for road use. I originally had an order In for a GTS but after the drivers day at Silverstone I cancelled it as it was just too hard and too fast for road use. The T is just a beautiful car to drive on our roads. Power is more than enough and the balance and enjoyment it offers on my local roads is just about perfect. Last of it kind before EV take over the roads .
Oh, your case is like mine. I firstly put the deposit on manual GTS. But changed my mind to T later 😊
I never ride with the windows down...... I will never know.
Trade a 2016 GT4 for a Carrera T?
Ok👍❤🙋
Serial 911 owner here, but nothing built this century. They’re just so big now!
That’s why Cayman is the true sports car produced by Porsche with a midshipman engine and well proportioned size rather than the over bloated 911, the 997.2 IMO remains the last real 911, 991 series are the size of a London double decker bus.
It wouldn't be a Porsche comments section without some purist telling us about how big they are, or naming which generation is 'the last'.@@MrRoyck10 Used to be 993 which was called the last, now it's 997, and amusingly only because it has 'the right' headlights. Porsche fans, ugh.
Where’s Carrera T?
Porsche must really be desperate to sell these 911 Carerra T's these videos are popping up everywhere. Porsche prices are out of control.
PRK is a no cost option for those chasing 0-60 time, mine had 414bhp on dyno and dips under 4 secs for 0-60
I heard a different review saying the wind buffeting with the windows down is unbearable. That would be a deal breaker for me.
I had one of these. The buffeting is an issue only with one window down and the other one up. If both windows are down or partly down to a similar extent, then it’s not very problematic.
Same with my 997.1!
@@theanthonyv I ordered a pair of wind diffusers from Suncoast Porsche which fit on the forward edge of the front window. Deflects the wind over the mirror rather than between the mirror and door. That does address the issue. The 991 and 981 model Porsches had a similar issue until they redesigned the mirror mounts for the 718 and 991.2.. Not sure why they didn't keep that design for the 992.
They all do this, a deflector is fix, but if it bothers you don’t crack the window
They are all coupes…
Cabriolet and Targa?
Is perfectly overpriced
In what world is 4.9 seconds to 62 considered fast.
Earth One in the early 90s. As an example, the 1993 Ferrari Testarossa was a low 5-second car.
No! Just marketing. Save the money for an option on your normal 911. Is not like you're gonna feel that 0,# second faster from 0-60. And the automatic with flippers, is unbeatable and causes a smile every time. Without the fatigue or pain in the knee from the heavy standard clutch.
Nobody is buying a Carrera T for the 0-60 time. If you have a bad knee that's one thing, but the clutch is not heavy in the slightest. My 987.2 Boxster S has a heavier clutch than the T. If you want a mechanical LSD, SPASM, with less sound deadening and a healthy amount of power that you can actually utilize on the road, the T is a solid option.
Well said@@parkman8595
