    To me, this car is the point of a Porsche. We all have the ability to get exactly what we each individually prefer (if you can get an allocation at all). It’s not the car I built but if Rich loves it, then perfect! As Nick said, I certainly respect it and I love that so many options are available. It’s a cool car that seems to have been thoughtfully specked and is tasteful. I see plenty of 911’s that people ruin, in my opinion, because of the configurator. This is not one of those. Nice video but you‘re exaggerating a bit. The engines are the same, but the Turbos differ between base/T and S/GTS 992 variants. A Carrera (T) with softeare is ~480 PS while an S/GTS will go to ~510 PS. Which only barely gets into 992 Turbo territory.

    A tune will void your powertrain warranty. You will have the available warranty on everything else (AC, lights, etc...) but yes you will lose your warranty on the powertrain. If you have concerns, ask the dealer that you go to. Another note is that although you can "roll-back" the ECU to stock tuning if you have issues from the tune, but you create a log that it was done in the ECU. They know you did it. Not something you can program out. If you tune and break it, deal with it. If you can't pay, don't play. Not cool Nick.

    • @davidvonslingshot
      @davidvonslingshot 5 місяців тому +1

      this guy brainwashed by the dealer....... there's always a way. the dealer also has to prove the tune caused your issue - if you had a headlight module failure, the tune isn't going to void your warranty. not all tuners are same. some are able to revert access logs back to same when it was first tuned..... where there's a will there's a way.

    • @GT4Commoner
      @GT4Commoner 5 місяців тому +2

      @@davidvonslingshot "if you had a headlight module failure, the tune isn't going to void your warranty" - No kidding. That is why I specifically said "You will have the available warranty on everything else (AC, lights, etc...) ". Thanks for not reading past the first sentence. Shows you don't care about the subject and just a troll. And your statement "some are able to revert access logs back to same when it was first tuned" - Sweet, name one that does that for Porsche with a statement from the company saying so. Everybody would be using them and they would be well known for that. The ECU would be coded that an update had occurred that is not coded to Porsche. Email the major brands such as: M-Engineering ("M-Engineering is also not liable for voided warranties due to installation of our products"); COBB ("the AP is not designed to go around any kind of warranty coverage and there may be diagnostics at a much higher level we are unaware of for detection of the tune"). But your right and must have done your research on the issue and have the best interests of others at heart I'm sure. You know more than the major corporations that try. Go tune your modern Porsche (if you have one) and make a vid about the experience. Would love for the community to see it.

    • @neilturner6749
      @neilturner6749 5 місяців тому

      @@davidvonslingshotNo, that’s not true, certainly in Europe. Your warranty terms state that using any parts not approved by Porsche invalidates your warranty period. Increasing power is such a fundamental change that the supplying dealer would not have to prove your modifications impacted any faults or failures. In practice, you would have to prove that your modifications DID NOT impact the failed components. You’re also incorrect therefore in saying that tuning your engine impacts the powertrain warranty - it actually impacts almost the whole vehicle’s warranty as (in the manufacturers lawyer’s opinion) increasing power adds strain to virtually every component including such indirectly related issues such as sunroof failure and interior creaks and rattles, components that we all know are universally fitted to all models regardless of standard “factory” outputs. Basically, don’t f*** with the car until it’s out of manufacturers guarantee anyway.

    • @GT4Commoner
      @GT4Commoner 5 місяців тому

      @@neilturner6749 In the US, it is a little different for the rest of the warranty. In the US, it would only deal with the powertrain warranty and the rest of the coverages would be fine. The main point is to ensure that people research and ask their dealership as some are ok with some mods and others are not. Porsche will want to know why their engine failed. I have yet to find a dealer that will overlook a tune. Another major player in the aftermarket Porsche scene is Dundon Motorsports and it states on their site "NOTICE: Tuning your ECU will be visible to Porsche and can potentially void your factory or aftermarket warranty." Yes, even third party warranty companies do not want to pay for a new engine. If you can't afford to fix, don't tune. Simple as that. Nick stating that you can just return to stock if you have a problem and then take to dealer like it's the manufacturer's fault is a #@$% move.

    • @Earthlyserenity
      @Earthlyserenity 5 місяців тому

      So, who has had an engine failure related to a tune, that is, any software related tune for engine remap? My understanding is that the turbocharged flat 6’s are exceptionally robust engines. Every 911 owner I know has a tune and their vehicles seem to run better with it. And their dealers apparently encourage it, no hiding needed. Anyhoo, love to get an answer to the failure question.

    Nick: I just really look forward to all your videos. Your analysis always enlightens me. If you recall (maybe), I have a 2004 911 turbo cab which I’m trading in for a Cayman S. I should have it hopefully in early June. I ordered it with a manual in Caulk with Graphite Blue leather interior. In total, I ordered it with a little over $15k in equipment options. Thank you for all your assistance (from your videos) in ordering this Cayman. And, please let me know if you are ever in the Virginia Beach area, or if you are having a Meet and Greet. Best regards. Jim

      Based on everything I've seen and read, the .2's will no longer have an analog tachometer - it''ll be an all-electronic dash, just like Cayennes, Taycans, Mustangs, Supras and Bimmers now. Apparently there will be hybrid engine options, not sure if it is just the Turbo and Turbo S or whether a Carrera variant will go hybrid.

    You can get tunes in the United Kingdom for £600, and they can remote in to your car via a laptop. Redline Tuning: Performance Car Tuning - At he end of the day, they dont do anything special. They just find your car on file and load the tune via the ODB port. takes around 30 - 50 minutes. Even 600 is too much but they do save your origianl tune in case you wantto restore it.

    Fun review Nick. Two comments:
    1. my understanding is that the actual turbo units on the S/GTS are larger than on the Base/T.
    2. The 4-way sport seats supposedly save close to 100lbs when compared to the 18-way sport seats due to elimination of all the motors and gearing.
    Any confirmation on these two points?

      Ok my 2023 GTS 2 has 4 way alcantara, no stereo upgrade (5 less speakers), Ceramic brakes and Carbon fiber roof. Almost no other options except Spider Design wheels and a few bits here and there. My idea was super lightweight without the idiotic factory "Weight Saving" options that actually add weight. I guessed the 4-way sport seats saved about 20 lbs but Apparently more than that. Where did u get those figures on the seat weight? FYI no front lift, no rear steering, no "premium package" etc... I also run 98 octane. I have driven some fast vehicles but this thing is so damn fast.

      I thought I would regret not getting the 18-ways on my T, but the 4-ways are easily the most comfortable seats I've ever had in a Porsche (others have been a 987, 718, my wife's Macan) and they fit me perfectly, and the cloth is grippy.
