What options should I have added?
A GTS.
jk. Nice car. Love my 4 GTS tho.
@@michaelwolpmann9453 lol I was trying. Couldnt get the allocation. Now I have a better relationship so next time
smokers package for your loose items! its free!
Ordered mine in Ice Metallic, the black glass roof really sets it off, oh and privacy glass, did rear seats as the grandchild needs somewhere to go, I did the ambient lighting because my son in law has it! I also did the PDK for a number of reasons. No matter what, first class, enjoy.
Congratulations on your T build! I did the same with great excitement in 2018 for a 991.2 build and will never part with the car. The Carrera T is a perfect platform to build the car that exactly meets your needs. Everyones needs are unique but the T offers an opportunity to build a driver focused car like no other. (And I mean no other...). I agreed with a lot of your choices but have a couple of observations after living with my T for a few years. First off, I've used mine for multiple long trips (Laguna Seca!) and discovered some amazing facts about my T. First off, in 7th gear the car gets amazing gas mileage. Mine gets up to 34/35 miles per gallon giving it very long legs, and to my mind negating the need for the larger/heavier fuel tank. I spec'd the light weight buckets but was nervous about their comfort for long trips. Could not have been more wrong; they're actually more comfortable and supportive than the other softer seat choices. On the track or pushing it on the back roads they're amazing. I also considered a PDK due to traffic and longer trips (not a wife issue fortunately) and spoke with an instructor at the Porsche Experience Center about the choice. The answer I got was "There is a special place in hell for someone who spec's a PDK in their Carrera T". Oops. The connection with the vehicle and the manual experiance greatly outweigh the performance number estimates. I tested that theory at the Experience Center and found out it was accurate. Others love their PDK's so there's a lot of personal choice involved. Might add that literally no one else drives my car.....so a little easier decision for me! Anyway, enough....hope you post a video about your car when it arrives! Congrats again!
Omg. Hahahaha. A special place in hell 🫣
You did you. I’ve had two 911s one bought at Porsche Austin and other at San Antonio; Carrera s and a 4s. The current 4s has rear wheel steering and I can confirm it’s the best valued option you can buy. The nice thing about your T is, you can get an engine map and get the power of a GTS without paying the $45k extra. I suggest doing this only after the warranty expires to avoid any debates with the service department.
I’m waiting on APR tune now. Porsche confirmed it won’t void warranty. I’m all in now lol
You should get the extended range tank and if you drive long distance, active cruse control
Def getting the tank
Awesome spec.
The rear axle steer is, unlike the 991.2, not necessary and negligible. The car handles and steers just as good without it. Plus, you add more weight.
I think the sport design package is an absolute must have. The car looks a million times better.
Also, I would have gone for the rear seats. It’s not much of a difference space wise and they do come in very handy when you need them.
Thx for the info. I go pretty hard on track so I’m really wanting that rear steer but the seats I am a little torn on. 🤔
@@VisionT7 if you can still change your spec, yes, go and get the back seats! You've already gone against the "T-spec" by opting for the PDK (just as I did). You might as well opt for the rear seats back in then. You won't regret it. And if this is your forever car, get the sport design package ;-)
Have you driven a 992 before? I owned a 992 Carrera 4 and have driven several 992 Carrera Ts. The rear steering is absolutely not needed. This car handles just as well without it. It adds weight and honestly it takes away from the true 911 rear engine, rear wheel drive experience. I would say the front lift is a must, I use mine all the time and it avoids serious damage to the front spoiler. The Sport design package makes the Carrera look a lot better in the front but actually ruins the rear end design. I would opt for just the front Sport Design option. I understand your reasons for opting for the automatic but honestly why buy the T if you are going automatic. The T is Porsche response to not having a manual option for the base 911. By going automatic you have just relegated the T to a base model. If you really want an automatic then you should probably opt for the Carrera S. It will include a lot of what you are optioning as standard, have more power, and an automatic is pretty standard with Carrera S builds. But putting an automatic in a T just adds a ton of weight and is a build that will hurt resale in my opinion. @@VisionT7
@@DurangoLegend appreciate the mature response. Well I thought of everything you mentioned. Only 992 I drove had rear wheel so I went with it. I loved that performance I felt so I wanted to make sure I got it. The car is a touring car in every aspect. If I was a single man I would do stick but I’m not an my wife likes to drive. I opted for auto so we could both enjoy (an I wouldn’t stress) The T offers a lot for the price. The S does too but my build was 10k more for stuff I didn’t really think was worth it. Also, I plan to keep this car. My dream has been to build my own 911 to keep. I was trying for a gts but at time the market up was dumb.
OK, makes sense. Whatever you do, I am sure you will enjoy the new Porsche. You really can't go wrong with any build. I really think though you need to reconsider the Porsche Carrera S. The Carrera T is really designed to be light weight, noisy, and a pure driving experience. It sounds like you really want a touring car. The S with its sound insulation, more power for the added weight, can be configured as an excellent touring vehicle without much price increase. The Carrera T is a fantastic car, in fact I am thinking of ordering a Carrera T as soon as the 992.2s are available. But the T is meant to be built light weight, with pure driving experience as the principle feature that sets it apart from other models. @@VisionT7
Automatic totally defeats the purpose of the T, go for the base if going PDK. I'm on my second Carrera T, had the 991.2 and just picked up my 2024 T, both manuals. For the 992 gen the manuals typically are resold at a premium vs. the PDK - but if it's your forever car then don't worry about it.
My spec is close to yours, but the prep for dash cam I would ditch, it's not worth it and still requires substantial install (not a plug and play solution, just provisions added in the fusebox).
Unlike the 991.2 you don't need the smoking package, it's just a stupid removable jar for 992, don't listen to people who have no idea what they are talking about.
I would ditch the painted front lip, this can get dinged up and is a sacrificial part and cheap to replace, if you do still want to the painted lip go for the surround view cameras just to make sure no issues with hitting curbs.
Also don't forget to spec BOSE, the base stereo is worthless and you will wish you had it.
Tons of great info here. Got me thinking on that dash cam. I better do more research. The pdk is a must for me. My 03 cobra is stick an I hate driving it in downtown traffic. I think the other options the T offers make it a better package then the base with the pdk. I do want to get a 991 version one day so I’ll prob go stick for that one
@@VisionT7 991.2 is much nicer looking than the 992 in my opinion, especially the rear bumper and exhaust location. Perfect car. Add a GTAcarkits to a 991.2 radio and you get wireless carplay/android auto for about 500$.
Put on the sport design package. The standard front bumper looks like a whale shark with its mouth open. It’s well worth the $ and makes the car look way better.
Add in the free storage package
If you are going to do long road trips you will want an upgraded sound system. The base system is very underwhelming
Do the smoking package (I don’t smoke either) it’s free and the smoking cup is removable. Pull the cup out and toss it in your glove box. It’s a great place to toss loose change/keys etc… it’s basically a free Porsche branded storage container
Will do this actually. Thx
I am building my 2024 T as we speak. So Bose is a big noticeable improvement over stock audio!
Great video bro
Thx dude.
The perfect spec is the one you like.
Perfectly said sir 🫡. I’ve gotten a lot of slack for the pdk option but your comment reaffirms my choice.
@@VisionT7 I had the same dilemma regarding my 911 S that I should be receiving by the end of the month. I opted not to get a sunroof since I never use it in any of my other cars and got the PDk option instead of the manual despite what others said. I have driven manual transmissions for the last 40 years and the PDK at this point in my life suits me better. I am not building the car worrying about resale value. I put exactly the things that I wanted into it. You have a great build. Enjoy.
The smoking package is not about smoking, it is a prewired power location for many uses. I got in my car and the wife that I ordered.
Def changing mine now
Congratulations bro on your build. It’s an exciting and special time! Those that know, know what I mean!
Nice build!
Thx man 🫡
I ordered my 23 Macan GTS almost the exact same options, Mine is Carmine red but really really close, Also my GT3 RS I went with the Lava Orange well because i didn’t have a choice …was extremely hard to get at that time and I got lucky the person that ordered it backed out . Congrats you will LOVE it, also The PDK was a good choice for a daily , you wont regret it
Appreciate the support.
Exciting man! You’re gonna love it! I have a 992 S and it’s phenomenal. I agree with going pdk. Typically I am a manual guy , as my other cars are manual.. but the PDK is just THAT good that I feel you’re leaving untapped performance on the table by going manual. If I were doing it all over again, I’d still get PDK. Of course , everyone had their opinions, but certainly don’t let others downplay your decision. You’ll love it !
I didn’t build mine, as I got it with 5k miles on it CPO, but your build is nearly identical to how mine is (I have rear seats and full glass sunroof which I love irregardless of weight. It looks black from the outside , and let’s a ton of light in on those nice sunny days driving.
Not sure if you’re going with sport design package, but I have it and love it. I think it’s worth the money, but of course that’s all Individual on what suits your eyes. I’m thinking about adding the spoiler if I can find it :)
Thanks dude. I’m excited for this one. I did not do the sports pack. So I think I want to do a whale tailish wing on it. Do a throwback concept. I’m sure purist will hate me but screw it.
@@VisionT7 oh those look great too! Yeah, screw what others think honestly. The only people who would ever give you shit are likely those who don’t have a 911, and if they do, are jealous that you have that option. I really don’t understand the ideology of devaluing someone’s modifications, especially if they are genuine porsche as it is! 10000% have to do what you want to do
Great video! Congratulations! Love your wheel choice, looks great with the guards red.
Appreciate the support. Seriously 🫡
If you're not getting the manual, why don't you just go with the standard Carrera?
My thought process is that it’s still a much better car with the rear end an other options.
I was going to go with the base 911 but the time you spec it, it comes to the same price as a T. And the T gives you features from the S that aren't available on the base. So it's a no brainer to go T
@@a004 right. My thoughts too.
Get the smokers package as it gives you another power point, very useful!
I just did
Congratulations to you and think you will love it. My 911 T in GT Silver just landed last month.
How awesome man. So happy for you. I can’t wait for mine
Great video, you seem very genuine. Congrats on the car. Great spec but I would have gone Manual. Just picked up Boxster GTS 4.0 and I got manual and its super easy to drive.
I appreciate that. Seriously.
Getting mine this week I ordered I got rear steering better radio manual trans
Nice. Yes I’m super excited for mine
i'd have opted for european delivery if you have the time. congrats
Loved all your options except PDK. I think you should have specified the Interior with the Guards Red Inlays and red stitching.
I was so torn but wanted to make it a more relaxing cabin
Guard’s red is actually fairly rare- Ferrari and Corvette guys pick red a lot - but not so much the Porsche crowd.
I feel like it’s fell off over the years but looks amazing.
@@VisionT7Remember that flat paint generally fades-out much quicker than metallic, so if your car lives outside alot in a sunny climate and you’re buying it as a “keeper”, I’d recommend the metallic red alternative…
No Bose?
No because I am an idiot! Horrible sound 🙄
Just got my T couple of weeks ago, also in guards red. I got the red seatbelts and red tachometer and sport chrono, I wanted to get the red trim, felt bad that I didn’t for a while after it locked, but at the end of the day I’m glad I didn’t. I think it would be too much.
What’s your insta?
Did the dealer give you an idea of when you should take delivery? Great spec. I would add the CF in the center console surround and dash to finish off the interior. PDK all the way for sure.
The app says Dec 25th. Dealer said give or take a week from that date.
We have super similar builds! One of the main differences for me is I opted for the LED matrix headlights. I think it modernizes the car a bit and gives it a sportier look. Beautiful build tho! I had a question, if optioned the exact same way, is the carrera T the same price as the carrera? I starting speccing a T out because of the rear steering and more options that the T has.
It’s about 10k more base. I chose the T as well for all the extras. It’s like a mini gts you can actually drive. I love those lights but I really don’t want to go over a certain price. Choices choices 🤔
Have you looked at the tune you can do? 500hp off a bass tune is crazy. Porsche detuned our cars so much.
@@VisionT7 I haven’t looked in detail but I’ve heard there are a lot of tunes out there that can make a base 911 as fast as a gts! Definitely something I’ll be looking into more in the future. I ideally would like to enjoy the stock car for a bit of a while first.
How long did it take you to get your allocation? And did the Austin Porsche dealership give you at sticker? And IDK why people saying to get manual. The car is for long distance travel and not just windy roads.
Like someone said in the comment, "the best spec is what you like." It sounds like you have experience with Porsche product. I am sure you know what is essential to fit your need.
So Austin an San Antonio wanted 10-15k markup. I contacted Houston North an I am with their “local” range. Two weeks later I got it. No mark up as long as you give them first chance to buy back if you sell it.
@@VisionT7 that's great. Congratulations. Yea Houston seems to be the place to be for allocation. I don't like the vibe from Austin and Grapevine dealerships.
Buddy did you get to yet? Mine just arrived at the dealership and I'm picking it up next week!
Lucky dog. Mine is in middle of ocean. Should be two weeks. Was yours early?
@@VisionT7 nope right on time per the app
A T in PDK? im sorry man... I love PDK too... but this car calls for manual.
Lol I know I know but after test driving both, I’m crazy happy with the pdk.
@@VisionT7it’s ok. You like what you like.
Can the brakes be upgraded?, the fronts look a little small
Is you are tracking regularly then you might want to go aftermarket. They are same size as base. I think 13in. Everyone says they are good with a little fade after a few hot laps but daily driving is fine.
Did you add Bose stereo?
Nope. I just kept thinking I can get better aftermarket.
Nice build!
Thx. This thing has been a blast
@@VisionT7 My build would be: carbon roof, rear-steer, sport-tech seats with grey stitching, Bose, white dials, 7-MT, and the fire extinguisher, for around $135K (in black)
@@qrtrscale I did the base stereo, god it sucks. Lol
Nice to know, will definitely get the upgrade now. Thanks.
@@qrtrscale I think it’s the fact the T has minimal insulation so
It sounds tingy. The Bose would be the upgrade to get. The Nissan I rented to get the car had a better stereo. 🙄
Just got my T Allocation December delivery have till end of September for f8nal build
So excited. My email says Christmas. Hope it’s accurate
@@VisionT7 mine says 12/15
@talkcars my hang up is guards red or ruby star
@@thehenrywilliams_581 mine was the carmine red. Love that dark color but I went the color I loved as a kid.
@@thehenrywilliams_581ruby star will be much more rare. So long as you're okay with a pink-ish car.
Isn't that wonderful! 🎉
Love this
I like your options. I would have gone manual, but yes the downside is the wife wouldn't be able to drive it.
Lol. She can drive stick but I have a small panic attack everytime
Ha! I get that! I talked to my dealer about an allocation... Four years for 911...@@VisionT7
@@sjp3003 lol. Facts
You will love the T. We got our Ruby Star Neo T a couple of months ago. I added the rear seats (11 lbs. I think) for our grandson, etc.
I didn't have the front lip painted because I will probably scratch it on a driveway and it's easier to replace a non-painted one.
We got the 18 way seats with the T weave and added the leather package. It's a nice environment to drive in.
I too opted out of body colored interior trim too distracting while driving.
I think ambient lighting changes colors. standard interior lighting has been fine for us.
I kept the standard wheels as their color matches the outside trim and they are easier to clean then the spyder wheels (I had them on my last car).
Don't forget to save some money to film the front of the car, in front of the rear tires and behind the rear tires as the bodywork curls under the car.
Enjoy!
Great spec. Yeah I better get the front protected
Smoking package is a must! It costs nothing and it covers a whole in the counsel. It looks better and has nothing to do with smoking,
The new smoking package is not like previous! It just adds a cigarette ash train to center console!
Wooow. Great catch. Will do
Thank you so much.
This is a 992, the 991 was a cover the 992 is completely different and not worth adding now.
@@MrSchn3ll thx for that info. I’ll be looking more into it
Std transmission is for psychological connection to the road. So,,,,,,,stick would always be my choice! But, not everyone is a “real” driver!
Lol. I agree. I have an svt cobra an really enjoy that connection. I want to have T perks but also get more performance out of car. Oh an not stress out when my wife drives 🤷♂️
I’m currently spec’ing my 992 T. I finally saw the Sport Tex seats in person. The photos are misleading, IMO. These inserts are not checkered. They are entirely black, but the over/under weave creates recesses that appear darker (in shadow) than the adjacent material. Just about every photo online makes the seats look like grey/black checks. For this reason, I opted for the Lizard Green Carrera T interior just to give some color to those otherwise very black seat inserts (until I change my mind again).
Re: Central Tach in Red. I would not do the Tach in color. IMO, the tach is THE centerpiece of the car and should be left unadorned. Just do the clock in red.
Re: Firex. Your passenger will hate it every time the backs of their legs scrape against the clasp.
Great stuff. So excited if you get yours. Good point on the extinguisher. Maybe I can remove if needed.
My wife complains about the fire extinguisher a lot when she is a passenger. Something to consider if you are opting for it.
@@scottmesenbrink93 I am. Can you remove easily? Or unbolt the entire thing if need be?
@@VisionT7 I haven’t tried to remove the fire extinguisher but I have to think it would be easy to remove it but not sure how easy it is to remove the mounting hardware.
@@VisionT7 also, I would add that I have the bucket seats in a GT4 so that may be part of the problem. I don’t know how in the way the fire extinguisher would be in a 992 with 18 ways.
Chalk looks like primer…
Hahaha. No you didn’t. 🫣
Not to be a smart ass, but Porsche is pronounced as a two sylabale name. Just for your edification.
Hahahaha. I’m getting better about it. I promise.
