I couldn’t agree more with you. You precisely described in a video with the pros and cons mentioned, that this is not a daily Driver. It is too loud, too windy, and definitely too Arash on the suspension to do your daily drives where you wanna be I’m, a conversation on the mobile through free speaking or speaking to a passenger. For somebody who hasn’t driven this car for a test drive, it is a very good video!
Thank you for an honest user review of the car. Your video illusrtates absolutely the most unbiased narratives of the car. This is a proper review after living with the car over a year, not driving the car for few hours or days. Your review is extremely helpful to me since I am looking to purchase one of these. Thanks again!
This is a great second car. I have no problem driving it for a couple of hours at a time. I also have a GLS for other daily duties, and switch back and forth between them depending on what my day looks like. I would not want my GT Roadster to be my only car.
Hey Dave, I just bought a 21 GTC.. Coupe.. and I love it.. Your video was great - honest and informative... I also have an sl55 and and clk 430 and I couldn't help notice the sl and c190 (??) in your garage.. So you are a true AMG nut..?? love it !!
Yep, I love Merceds cars - I have owned 19 over the years. The 190E 2.5-16V was my very first ever car in England, and I recently just imported one when I retired. Still love it! I think the new SL is a sleeper and WAY underrated. Looking forward to the new model in '22!
oh man i can't wait to buy the new sl63, i'm 19 and i'm working on my financial education and beginning my journey on trading currencies and following my dad's career and take his company once he retires
I am curious about the difference between a GT Roadster and a GT-C. Is the GT softer riding and less track oriented? Also some observations. I drive a SLK 250 and absolutely love it. I would take it on a trip over just about any sedan I have owned. It is that much fun and the seats seem to be custom made for my 5’ 6” frame. The SLK has quarter panels but they do little to eliminate buffeting so I just raise the windows when I get a bit speed crazy. Also, one does not drive a roadster with the top down and expect to initiate a Socratic dialogue. It is all about the feeling and exhilaration of the sound, the wind in the hair and the sun in the face. As far as the looks of the GT roadster it exudes power, strength and arrogance -an Obsidian Black Metallic GTC with that evil looking grill and the three pointed star would be parked in Vader’s garage next to the TIE Fighter. It is not a car for one who wishes to go unnoticed.
Dave, I was wondering what you think of the new SL53/63 2022 AMG coming out soon? I’m driving a BMW 435i XDrive hard-top convertible and really want to get out of BMW for a while. I live in California and want to drive it every day, literally. I was excited that they are making it a 4 seater, thought I would get some great functionality out of it, so I think. Thanks…appreciate you insight.
I have s 1994 sl500 collectors ... R129... and a 2012 mercedes S600 w221 V12 biturbo..... and I'm looking to add this to my collection ... how is the room on the car do the seats reclince back enough so your siting comfortably and not tight
We just sold our low-mile '09 Carrera S (997.2) due to its punishingly stiff ride here on our pot-holed & frost heaved midwest roads; and bought an ultra low-mile 2018 SL550 (which we absolutely love) for $90,000. The AMG GT roadster in comparison rode too stiff and did not feel as refined as the SL. The SL is an excellent daily driver; the AMG GT... not for us.
I live in the Mid West too, and completely agree! I also think the modern SL is a sleeper that is massively underrated. I’ve had a 2017 SL450 and will really miss it when the lease ends in December. I’ve driven it in all conditions and it has always been super-reliable and very refined on longer trips. LOVE the hard top and I’m sad to see the new SL’s will be going down the ‘rag-top-only’ route!
To my eyes they are few things in the automotive world more attractive that an well designed roadster like the Benz with the top down. However there is nothing more unattractive than the same roadster with the rag-top up. It is hard a top roadster only for me, or never take it out of the garage without the top down. Yes I know about the loss of trunk space and the mechanical complexity of hard tops. But these cars are not necessarily GTs and definitely not grocery getters, they are “enjoyment” cars and ego boosters - 100% fun not 100% practicality.
This car is very uncomfortable and a rough ride, I could not drive it for more than 1 hour. The seats are hard as a rock and does not have enough adjustments. My neighbor has one and and I have an SL63 AMG, I drive my car daily. He just pays to have it sit in the garage, because it’s so uncomfortable to drive. He bought a Camry to drive because it’s so uncomfortable to drive. It’s a nice looking car, sitting in the garage.
I did c3,500 mile in about 10 months. The gearbox is superb - one of the car's best features. It is great on the paddles, but also superb in full auto when the drivetrain is in sport or above. It really anticipates the shifts for you so you always have the power on tap. Cheers, Dave

Thanks for that, John - that really is my intention so wonderful that you found it helpful!
I think he says along the lines of ‘feels light’- but forgets to mention GT C has rear axel steering making it super easy to move

Dude I never saw your Channel before, but since I saw you like Benz’s and you have more Benz’s in the garage then I just subscribed 🤩
Great video !!

great honest critique

We do! We have 2020gtc and 2018 e63s, I love the car
Love those wheels on it!
Very useful, thank you.

Thanks for the info
That center console looks cheap...hands down honest review..
So what youre saying is that it rides like and sounds like a car that's a roadster.
EXACTLY!! it's not an s580
Hes just being a pill, cuz he can't see over the dash. 😂

Amazing, cool car
Great review but the sound quality is awful.
So I’m confused..what’s the difference between the gtc roadster and the new SL?🤔
I thought the same thing.
Four seater and different infotainment
Thanks that was nice 👍
