Really interesting how the old SL63 Keeps up so well, and from the looks of it that's not the performance pack if you're saying it's 530hp and 590lbft - With the performance pack that 2014 SL was a rocket with 580hp and 660lbft of torque, I'd actually think it would win against them which is crazy especially given it''s a decade old.
🏆Thanks for the video, guys! Great comparative and good fun! Although I love all the variants of the SL, my favorite in the line up is the GTC. But I struggle to call any of those a real Roadster (maybe the GTC is the only that qualifies). In my book the true roadster is a small open top sport car and those are SL’s are huge. But all of them are wonderful and would be a nice addition to any garage. That said, I love my unquestionable real roadster from MB, the SLC 43 AMG. It’s predecessor, the SLK 55 AMG is even a more characteristic and classic roadster. My SLC 43 AMG with a very mild and conservative tune to it’s V6 Biturbo, intake and exhaust system is a pocket rocket that leaves 981 Porsche’s Cayman S on the dust on the straight line. With it’s hard open top it’s common that I opt to drive it instead of my new 911 Carrera T. It would be lovely to see a comparo like that with the last generation SLC 43 AMG and the R171 and R172 SLK 55 AMG! Cheers!
Thank you for the well written feedback and praise! We see your point regarding a true Roadster vs. a Convertible Sports Car. We miss the SLK and SLC. We might have to set up a comparison test like the one you recommended... Stay tuned!
We wanted to simulate a street race while reducing the benefits of AWD for the all new AMG SL63. That is why we dragged them all from brake to throttle with no boosting. Maz tried to brake boost the GTC on the first run and it didn't work out too good for him 😂
Its amazing to see how well a decade's worth of SL and GT vehicles compare. AMGs are truly timeless performers. We were shocked to see how well matched these 4 vehicles were.
Without Race Start enabled the 2022 SL63 will not launch as ferociously. We did not use Race Start on any of the vehicles to level the playing field for all and to reduce the benefit of AWD vs RWD.
It was in Race Mode, just like the other 3. Because the 2014 SL63 and 2012 SLS did not have race start, and the 2022 was the only AWD, we went straight from brake to full throttle with all of them. It is similar to how a sudden race would play out from a stop light.
something is wrong with these results. I have driven both an SLS and the SL 63 amg (2017). I've also raced the SL 63 in the SLS (the SLS is my fathers) and I beat it decisively...
Mercedes-Benz Roadster vs... more Mercedes-Benz Roadsters. Too much fun. More Benz, More Fun.

LOVE the SL63. Classy and Sporty.

the sls does have race start, it is the RS mode on the dial. put car in sport mode, TC off, turn to RS and hold break

This cars are slow tbh. BMW anyday
what is a BMW? are those these crappy plastic shit cars that break right after they leave the factory and stay at the repair shop 75% of the time?
The worst drag race I have ever seen in my life.
Maybe post the one you did on your e-bike vs the toy wagon your neighbor was riding and beat yo @$$.

High altitude and hot temperatures were not very nice to the SLS and its naturally aspirated motor.
