#MercedesAMG have done a miracle, and for the first time in my car history I’ve received a roadster in the summer! And what a summer it is, hottest day ever in the UK to film and collect a roadster: honestly not as easy as it sounds!!
This car may become my favourite #AMG on the fleet, having now driven it… it’s a beast of a V8 engine with the perfect balance of power and tech. I’m so excited to show it to you!
My car is unique, its an SL55 Premium Package car with an interior from the “Touring Package” plus carbon fibre trim - a spec that isn’t possible now in the UK! I’ll explain more about the UK Premium and Touring packages and the options available later in the video - but essentially, because I got an early car that I didn’t spec, this happy consequence of a unique spec came to pass!
Today we’re going to start in a convoy with the R129 SL 60 belonging to 40 collection on instagram, along side T1DSO from IG and his Brabus 500 GLE 53 - and finally myself in the GT Black Series off to collect it’s brother!
I’ll unveil the car in Northampton Mercedes Benz, go over the spec which includes AMG Night pack 2, truffle brown exclusive interior, driving assistance package and more before we set off for home to go deeper into the car. We’ll have a look inside the SL 60 as well - it even has a crazy old red Nokia phone!
Once home, I’ll show you the MBUX set up assistant which is a first for me - some big surprises in how Mercedes are now making your car identity more substantial, almost like an iCloud or Google account - very impressive stuff. I’ll also show you the UK/EU exhaust of the SL55, because HOLY HELL - it sounds insane!! Both the “emotion” start up and the revs are like a car from the past. Really hope you guys enjoy this, I’m loving it and can’t wait to do the first drive, full review and then put it up against the 911 Cabriolet!

Gotta admit I wasn't a fan of the spec at first when you pulled off the cover but when I saw it outside with the roof down a bit later I totally changed my mind. The car looks terrific, enjoy your ride mate.

Very nice car! As an owner of an older model SL55 I still prefer the hard top. I do however love all of the new updated tech in the car and it’s sounds absolutely amazing. Congratulations!

You went with the 55 and not the 63. I’m surprised and impressed! I really expected you to get the 63. The 55 is the right choice for this car. You want this car to lean more to comfort than to stiff high performance suspension. Congratulations!
Add the crest. Beautiful spec. Can you do a video on maintenance of all your cars, how long you keep them for (factors that play into the decison), what you choose to drive on certain occasions and why, etc.
And also the economics involved

This must be your first SL, I'm certain. Massaging seats have been an SL standard this entire century. I wish you drove a R230 or R231 to compare the roof refinement against. Black on brown is definitely the spec the R232 want's to be.
That was one of the most comprehensive walk around during a car delivery I’ve ever seen on YT. Usually it’s people making faces and saying the same basic info 10x over.

I made sacrifices to buy a 2020 BMW 3 series G31 330i and suddenly I lost all interest because my car will have nowhere near the technology that you have in this... I never knew that some of these goodies are even available in a car...

First of all, big congratiolations to your new SL 55. Looks awesome.
I work at a AMG performance center in Sweden and from just using the new SL 63 for a couple of days in normal heat - I noticed that I really burnt my finger off every time I tried to pull up / down the roof while driving in the sun or when I came out to the car after a cup of coffee... The keyfob really doesnt work all the time so after living with the car for a while - would you not appreciate a fysical button to open / close the roof? I really cant understand why they removed it.
Also I expereienced a lots of squeeky sounds from the dashbord etc like the car was not properly put together, but this is something they should be able to sort out tho.. How about yours? Any baby sicknesses? Do you think the power of the 55 is more than enough?

While we are on the SL-love-fest - my auntie/uncle finally decided to sell their 1976 SL 450 (maroon-red)...they once sold it prematurely, but got it back but now it's for good. Great memories sitting in the back as a little kid (yes barely any foot room but we were small), but I got to drive it once, and oh man, gorgeous machine. Looking forward to the full living-with review!

BEAUTIFUL!! If it were my car I would drop it a hair and flush the wheels out a bit as the only thing I'm not a fan of is how sunken in they are to the fenders, especially the front. If they were more flush it would make it look even more aggressive. Regardless, its beautiful so congrats!
