The show knows what it is and what's its doing and who it's target audience and yes there is a story might not be a deep one but so far it's good and of course the action is TOP TIER
Why is the story not deep? Every time there’s a popular shounen there’s always these narratives that get pushed. Im sure I’ll get a lot of pushback for saying this the same way I used to get push back for saying that AOT had well written characters after season 1.

Fans said after AOT season 1 that it was just mindless action and had a subpar character writing. Fans said Demon Slayer was carried by animation after season 1. Stupid narratives like these get pushed when an anime become super popular. Years from now, people are going to act like they weren’t saying this about JJK

Only case when story doesn't matter is when the anime doesn't go out of its way to try and MAKE the story matter
Both demon slayer and jjk would NOT have been nearly as popular if the animation had been that of your everday generic seasonal isekai.
Something like Monster doesn't have god-tier animation or anything, but the story's still so good that it's been one of the highest rated series on MAL

From what I saw it’s not trying to be a memorable story it’s trying to look as cool as possible and it exceeds brilliantly

Frankly, I'm 8 episodes in and I don't like the story (or lack thereof). However, even though I found them drawn out sometimes, the anime managed to make me excited for fight scenes in a way that only Naruto, Berserk, Castlevania, Jujutsu Kaisen and Shingeki no Kyojin managed to do before.
I just spotted this on HBO Max but before I invested one second I went to UA-cam and found this video. I am now a fan of your channel and new subscriber. Thank you for this upload and I look forward to your past library and future videos.

I think solo leveling has some compelling aspects to it though, like the fact that Jinwoo was once the weakest hunter or that his mom is sick, it focuses on story a lot more than Ninja Kamui imo

The show is easy to understand Joe Logan Alias name jigan Family got killed he tried to get away but his past caught up to him easy😂. If ninja kamui don’t have story then all 4 John wicks have no story it’s simply John’s dog died wife died from illness then smoking everybody easy peasy.
But you can only go so far with those types of narratives. Just becomes super stale but if that’s what people like then god speed
L take. This is far more entertaining than 95% percent of most anime out right now. The Raid Redemption 1 & 2 and John Wick Saga didnt have too deep of plots and are some of the greatest action movies ever made. Not everything has to be philosophical and embedded in symbolism. A simple revenge thriller with a few twists and clean animation can be entertaining as hell.
The Raid 1 & 2 both had amazingly gripping story that made sense with grounded while still allowing themselves to be vehicles for some of the most insane action sequences ever produced. A story doesn’t have to be philosophically deep to be gripping or compelling. It just has to be written well.

First episode really caught my attention but same as you, I didn't care about the characters at all and even though the story had potential, I just didn't care. As the series continued, it got worse and worse...
I liked the first two episodes of this anime and I got interested but everything else was so stupid and the animation got pretty bad. A 4/10 for me. Yaboyroshi and their reaction to the last episode put my mind perfectly into words.
I enjoy a good action story but it’s surface level revenge I don’t know how to feel. If it’s televised somewhere I’ll watch myself. Edit: quick turnaround I found it on Adult Swim site and how Park weaved the story beats together is smart. Starts with a killing spree but Joe kicks ass. Could’ve done without dialogue to give the first episode climax more impact but it was still good.
ill have to check out the show but sometimes theres shows like mad max fury road where the story is driven by the action and even though its all kinetic. every sequence is driven by the action

You know I leaned something recently, you don't need any compelling or complex story to become a popular anime. As long as you have amazing animation, most ppl will watch your anime. It doesn't matter if your story is generic or anything special, as long as it has jaw dropping action ppl don't care about other aspects. Same case with solo leveling. Sadly opposite is also true, even if you do have amazing story, if you don't have good animation most anime fans won't watch your anime. I guess this is the time we live in.

Love this anime so far, if you want action it's definitely there. Reminds me of Afro Samurai, or Chainsaw Man but definitely has its own identity

tried to find the manga, and i found a manga about s*x exorcism, got a good laugh from it, tho it has introduced a loli character, so I stopped reading. the manga is 'Ushiro no Shoumen Kamui-san ', no idea what that means in japanese.

I got 4 episodes in, and dropped it. the story telling and characters are very lacking. it just feels like a soulless corporate product, like someone who doesn't watch anime tried to make an anime based off a bad explanation of what anime is.
The action and animation is great, but I can't help but to not care about anything that's going on, or the characters. I just found it very boring and it failed to invoke and sort of emotion from me. a good story can't be driven by mindless action alone.

@@ben99ny69 I watched it all. Obvious a cash grab. First of all you can’t name an anime that’s not generic shit…even Freiren used the same generic shit magic combat as a dozen others before it. NK was fun cliche on purpose. The studio obviously had inner politics issues with the story going to shit after Ep 5. The animation style and quality changed, and it sucked. The shit CGI ruined. The suits were justified by the story. thanks

Exactly how I felt about JJK. Everyone was glazing it saying it was the best thing since sliced bread but the highlights in S1 were really just Gojo and the fights. S2 was better in some aspects but it arguably made this problem worse by having SUCH remarkable fights and animation everyone's just blinded by all the deaths and says it's amazing and one of the best shows ever. If you bring up that the power system is confusing and that they literally have to pull out a random narrating grandma to explain things at some points the fanbase just says you have a low IQ. Worse than Rick and Morty fans at their peak imo. At least Ninja Kamui and Solo Leveling know what they are and I find them really enjoyable. A power fantasy and a revenge story. Keep up the good work.

Except most of season 1 is planning and build up for s2 shibuya incident. They literally hint at the shibuya incident way back in early season 1. S2 is quite literally the result of the curses planning for gojo from way back and going forward theirs ramifications within Japan and the world as a whole as a result of what happened…you just trying to be edgy bruh lmao
