Hi friends! Here's the 20% off code for WILD bit.ly/CODELMR20 I hope you love their products as much as I do! This is a repost due to some uploading issues I had yesterday; I'm sorry to those who were having trouble watching the video. Much love, and I wish you a beautiful day! ~Chelsea
I watched it yesterday, then when I went back to watch it again a message popped up saying that I didn’t have access to it and the screen was all blacked out 😱🤯. I guess it was some kind of glitch because now the video is back 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Chelsea, I enjoy your channel. Your McConnon cookbook peeked my interest. I searched and found an interesting article about the history of the company. I am sure you will enjoy reading it. Ask Vance Memphis Magazine The Medicine Factory My husband's grandfather was a door to door salesman/representative with the company. He lived in rural NE Missouri and was a retired farmer. This would have added to his small income. My knowledge is from the early 1950's when he was in his 80's, shortly before his death. I only knew of the spices and extracts, had no idea of all the products they manufactured and sold. I am 88 and it is encouraging to see people learning to cook from scratch, and the simple ways to make do and save money.
I wonder if any of the women that wrote cookbooks in the 30's could even imagine how nearly 100 years later their recipes were being made. Sure the methods might be different with our more modern equipment but the ingredients are the same nutritious foods we grow today. I love thinking how we carry on that legacy of feeding our families ❤
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for posting this video! I loved it and after watching the noodle making portion I was able to make noodles with my pasta maker right for the 1st time! I have tried before and failed miserably 😢 They were delicious and all my children and hubby agreed. I enjoy your videos so much! Thanks again
Many years ago, Hubby complained that he could not taste the chicken in the chicken broth I used for soup. I explained to him that I added onions, carrots, spices, etc. to make it "better and more flavorful." He asked me to make the next batch with absolutely nothing in it but the chicken, so I did. It was wonderful! The chicken flavor all by itself was incredibly good. If additional flavors are desired for a specific soup, they are easy to add, but I have not made meat or poultry broth with any additional vegs or spices for years and years. Try it. Delicious! Most soup calls for onions or carrots or other thigns to be added anyway. When those flavors are doubled up, you lose the beautiful delicate flavor of the meat being used.
I'm watching it again too; yesterday, I was distracted for some spans of time after starting play and today I get to not only hear it again but really get to watch it all. Have a nice evening!
Hi Chelsea....love that the chickens are starting to produce again! We have 5 "ladies" and one has been a real trooper and producing an egg for us every couple of days! (we are in Southwestern Ontario) I did experiment with storing some eggs in lime water this past summer and can report that they were amazing!! No change in texture or flavour but I didn't store enough. I will be using the same method this year in hopes of never having to buy an egg through the winter again. I look forward to each video you share and have enjoyed all your posts and videos since before Covid. Lovely community...😊
I make lots of chicken bone broth with carcasses and some extra wings. I will stop the process after about 45 minutes to an hour and cool and then pick the bones for meat as I found after more than 4 hours the meat is just used up and loses texture and flavor. So I stop and pick the bones then put the bones and veggies back with a couple glugs of vinegar and give the broth many more hours. Then I have a more flavor full chicken meat for the soup in the end.
Chelsea, On the #Three Rivers Pantry Challenge you are also supposed to set your own rules. She buys enough Fruit from Azure Standard to come in January so they will have that plus they gather bushels of apples they get from Adam’s grandfathers old home place orchard. Plus she allows for store bought things for birthdays. On the vegetables the only thing I’ve seen her do is New Years Eve she goes to the grocery store and buys a bunch of fresh vegetables for their New Year’s Day feast that Adam makes and they have left overs for about a week from that. She has mentioned that she understands some people have to purchase dairy milk eggs ext. And other things maybe you could make a rule for yourself during the challenge maybe you could gather some before but maybe allow yourself one vegetable shop one time a month during the challenge. I want you to feel good and be extremely Happy about the challenge so that you will continue to do this year after year! I am so enjoying you cooking more intentional. Much Love to you Dan and family!
I have several old cookbooks! One I use a lot is from the Quaker Church, I used to attend- recipes are soooo good! My go to though was the Joy of Cooking by Better Homes & Gardens- used so much the pages are falling out! Am loving the Nostalgia of the old cook books🤗❣️

Thank you for a wonderful video! Really appreciate these recipes during the winter especially that help when someone isn’t feeling well. The honey cough drop recipe is so smart and easy.
With pasta it helps if you run the dough through each level twice. If it gets too long, cut it in half and then continue running it. Love homemade pasta. It is also interesting if you use different types of flour, such as half einkorn & AP or put in some spelt in there.
Toasted bread crumbs. Back in the day when Italians didn't have Parm reggiano they would toast up old bread that they crumbed in a very very light oiled pan and toss that on to their pastas in place of cheese. You will make a basic white sauce ...bechamel sauce. That will be delicious with home made noodles.enjoy!
U are a lady of many talents I could taste the soup from here it looked scrumptious I know if I tried making pasta I would balls it up but love the texture Andre of home made pasta
Oh my gosh that does look so mouth watering.....scrumptious yum. Always love the old recipes. But loved this because you used fresh made broth it made it extra special with the fresh noodles.hugs and luv
I’ve been on a chicken soup bender myself and I live in Florida! I used chicken legs and added a cup of barley. (Cheaper than breast meat and the barley made it eat like a meal) Regarding cook books, I still use a little one I’ve had since I was 10 and I’m 71 now! 💕🥰💕
Yum! I used similar ingredients for our dinner today. I made a keto friendly chicken pot pie (almond flour biscuits on top instead of pie crust). Except, I cooked off the chicken the day before, and when I cooked the rest of the meal today, I totally forgot to add the chicken in! So, we had a veggie pot pie and had to heat our chicken separately, lol. It was still delicious! My chickens are just starting to pick up their laying, too.

Chelsea it looks so good I wish I had a bowl. If you move your pasta cutter to the other edge of the table as you roll out the dough it will roll out on the table making it easier on you. 👍🏻
woohoo another soup video! I watched your other video where you made a turkey soup with the drop noodle you called "Galooshkas", and my family loved those. I do not have a pasta maker, so I love the drop noodle idea, that worked very well for me. These noodles you made for this version look a lot more attractive! I bet it smells so good in your kitchen.

I use TVP- textured vegetable protein with a little oil and salt on kale to make dehydrated kale chips. The TVP tastes a lot like parmesan cheese, if you have some, that might be a trade off during the pantry challenge for your alfredo. I have that pasta machine but haven't tried it so thanks for sharing your adventures with us
Do you keep a list of how many jars you canned, how many you have used, and how many you will need to can for next season (apple pie filling)? How many apples go into canning an apple pie filling?
My great grandmother who was born in 1885 and was a farmer’s wife made noodles using the same recipe but her technique was different than yours. I think her method was probably more like Aunt Jane would have made them. She started with eggs and the number of eggs determined how many noodles she wanted. In a bowl she beat the eggs well and added salt and beat again well. I’m not sure what happens when you beat the salt into the eggs but the texture and appearance of the eggs changes. Then she added flour until the dough was stiff but not as stiff as yours in the video. It was just barely past sticky. She always insisted that too much flour made tough noodles. I’m sure there are many different options on that but those were her instructions. We put a very generous amount of flour on the counter and added the dough. We added more flour on top and began pressing the dough flat adding flour on top and underneath to prevent sticking. When they were coated in flour until they didn’t stick then we rolled them out. They were never kneaded. The counter we used had a design on it and the noodles were rolled until they were thin enough to see the design through the dough. This required adding more flour top and bottom throughout the process. Then they were liberally coated with flour and rolled like you would roll cinnamon rolls then cut in thin slices. Then you would lift or kind of toss the slices with your fingers to unroll them and coat the edges with flour so they wouldn’t stick together. I was blessed to have known and learned from this great cook for 20 years before she passed. I hope you will give her method a try. The noodles are very delicate and tender and so delicious.
That chicken noodle soup looked amazing. I always learn so much from watching you cook. Learning how to make homemade pasta is on my list for this year. I made a high protein anabolic chicken noodle soup during the challenge using Brami noodles made out of lupini beans and a rotisserie chicken from Costco. It was good but I bet not as heartwarming and delicious as yours.
Idea: threerivershomestead ( Jessica) can not use dairy. She uses something else to substitute for her cheeses. Maybe that would work to substitute Parmesan?
I am totally trying the wild deodorant. I've been using meow meow tweet brand, which has a lot more options with the same philosophy, but I find their deodorants to be flaky and if I'm going to spend 15 $ on a stick of deodorant, I don't want 1/3 of it on the floor or on my shirt when I apply it. Dove 0% has been my commercial go-to...definitely not saving the environment on that one but I can't have the aluminum or baking soda and I get rashes so bad - especially after shaving.
Isn’t the meat from a carcass that has cooked a long time virtually tasteless? I guess I always thought all the goodness and nutrition had been extracted.
