    The biggest difference in the USA in recent years is the rise of cost of living. The stress levels are higher and the food quality is lower.

      Are fruits and vegetables very different in the US? For me in Mexico, I think of our fruit and veggies as normal, but apparently they are of a very good quality?

    • @mamacat321
      @mamacat321 6 місяців тому +4

      YES -- the food quality has definitely gotten worse! When we visited down there, my husband's food allergies went away completely -- he could eat anything he wanted, whereas he had to avoid even organic versions of them up here. So strange.

    • @Sheilawisz

      @@mamacat321 Very strange indeed. A common belief here is that the very best of our products, our veggies and beer and fruit are sent to the US while we keep the lower quality for our country, but I see now that it’s not true.

    If you go to the Mexican border in the US then walk or drive across the border into Mexico you will feel the stress and anxiety of the US melt away. The materialism, anxiety, and insanity vanishes. Sanity returns. Mexicans are polite and society is nicer. Everything in the USA is about getting rich, exploiting other people to get rich, competition.

      I couldn't agree with you more. It's as if there is some sort of spell everyone is under in the USA, some sort of dark cloud infecting everyone living there. When I used to visit Tijuana before moving out here to Merida I would feel the same weight just lifting off of me, and I would feel that heaviness soon as I would talk to the American border agent heading back into the USA. I still remember vividly when I left the USA for good and was flying into Mexico City how a giant sense of relief just hit me like a ton of bricks and once I got here to Merida I finally felt free without even knowing how much more amazing things were going to get. It is why after living here in Mexico for 12 years and 2 months I have never gone back or have any plans to ever go back to the U.S.
      When a few friends of mine came down last year to visit, me you could see on the faces when it came time to leave and go back to the U.S. the happiness turned to sadness and I told them that they should go back and get ready to leave permanently and they looked at me and said they wish they could!! They made many excuses and I just stood there and shook my head and said to myself a little courage goes a long way. While I am proud of you for supporting yourself in your choice that makes you happy. I look forward to more openness and acceptance plus freedom to enjoy weed for the relaxing medicine and flavor that it is. Sorry for failing to see a negativity with Marijuana. I think the negativity toward weed is the only bad part of weed. Again I am proud of you for being happy about your choices. I have a home and I’m financially stable and still my anxiety is high. Why? Because in the USA everything can be taken away in an instant. The lack of safety is keeping me mostly a homebody. The lack of friendly people keeps me from going out much. Borrowing others stress by way of unprofessional service, aggressive drivers, unfriendly neighbors, etc. makes creating peace a constant struggle.
    I have inner peace but it’s work to maintain it here in the USA.
    What a beautiful video Jose ❤ So happy you are in a better head space. Congratulations!!!

      The struggle is real. I know it all too well. Little did I know while living in the USA that there could be better out there for me. I never thought that leaving the USA would make me the happiest I have ever been in my entire life. This is why I don't focus so much on cost of living and trying to maintain a similar lifestyle here in Mexico. I realized that the main reason I have been able to achieve inner peace is by slowly leaving my past life and routine behind. I now embrace everything about life out here in Mexico because the culture and the life out here is what truly has made me get to this point of so much clarity and happiness. Thanks again for sharing, hope you make it out to Mexico soon!

    Good video Man. We have a similar situation here in Canada just without guns. A lot of people have mental issues because of the broken families and people tent to be super isolated.
    I am still freak out because "friends" don't use to see each other every often, like once of twice every 2-3 months. Also, I have the constant felling that there is always a layer between people when I talk to them. Yes, they are polite but that's it. If you want to have a deep talk they seem that they don't care or that they are afraid to say the wrong thing.
    Also, because there are to many immigrants. Is common to loose your social group after 2 to 3 years. They end moving to another city of going back to their countries. So, that affect people too. Is repeating the whole cycle from time to time pretty fast, is very consuming and even overwhelming.
    I don't smoke pot. But people here told me that it's different from the one in Latin America. The pot from Canada usually gives them paranoic feelings very often.
    Glad you are happy. The warming feeling you have in Mexico is something that I even didn't notice. I started to notice it the difference when I visit some places in the USA and started living in Canada. From my opinion people tend to be more individualist and self oriented up there. Materialism also have a strong influence in that hollow feeling.
    Take care and I wish you well!

    Sure they need to be trimmed, but I find it a bit ironic that it came when it did.
    We're OVER it here. Everything is designed to separate you from your hard earned money to where you have nothing.

But as it pertains to Mexico the cops here just want to shake you down for some cash and extort you. As you already know they are more dangerous than the Cartel themselves. But the cops in the USA are far worse. In the USA they actually kill you over minor infractions and not only tow your car for no reason but they arrest you and put you in the system in which you are trying to pay out of for years. In Mexico if you get pulled over by corrupt cops and you know your rights many times you can be let go but worse case scenario all they want is a mordida. If they give you a ticket/citation thats actually the best case scenario. But never will the cops in Mexico take yourlife unless they plan on facing the consequences of a murder charge. In the US they get awards and medals for that type of behavior. Again i totally agree that the Mexican police treat locals way worse but again you and me both know how much worse they can treat you in the USA. You even admitted it yourself how bad the USA is. L.A is not as bad as other parts of the country. Either way cops are bad on both sides of the border but they are much safer out here than in the USA by far. Thanks again for sharing.

    I have to be honest Jose, I'm not really thinking of going to Mexico to live there (I'm more interested in Colombia, but who knows, maybe I'll choose Mexico), but a lot of your videos are motivational and inspire me to be more positive since I really struggle with negative thinking. Living in the US is extremely difficult these days, and despite my level of education and experience at 35 going on 36 years of age, I still find myself struggling here in California. I thought moving abroad is a pipe dream, but lately I've been seriously considering it, especially since I've been giving up on American women and I find that women abroad such as in Mexico and Colombia seem to be of a higher quality than most women who live here in the US. It also helps that I'm able to speak 4 languages, one of them being Spanish, so it should help me tremendously when going abroad to Latin America.

    Hello José,
    Many of the social standards and values of American society are very wrong, a person is valued by the money he earns, the house he lives in, the car he drives. That leads many people to the moral misery you talk about. Down there in Mexico you found that true happiness lies in the simplicity of life. Life without the stress and social pressure that many people are subjected to here in the United States. The simplicity of love for yourself, for your family, for your friends, for your job and the place where you live are the true riches that a man needs to be happy. Hey authority is way different in Miami than it is in the rest of the country. I lived in Miami two years as a young man and the Cubans are very racist towards all the racis whether they are from Central America or Mexico or South America
    And they are very problematic meaning they will start some thing out of nothing. I’m talking about the cuban officers in Miami.
    Cuban American officers to be exact
    A friend of mine got a ticket for being ugly no bs who in the country would give you a ticket for being ugly only in Miami..
    It probably would not stand in court. I understand that, but it’s just harassment.
    In Miami is a very dangerous city and I come from LA and I’ve been to different cities..
    Just as dangerous as LA if not more dangerous at least back in the 90s when I was a teenager
    Anyways, congratulations on your life in Mexico. I have made my whole whole family now Mexican citizens except for my wife.
    Not sure how to do that because we still live in the US

    This is called "being on vacation". Most people feel happier on vacation. After a few years the vacation is over and all the same old issues return. A new zip code does not actually change mental health. People use all kinds of ways to "feel better" without actually addressing the actual issues. For example drinking a bunch of alcohol will make a person feel better for a time.
    Road rage in a good area of Mexico won't end in problems? Insult a Mexican and they're just going to take it? A lot of delusion going on here. I've lived in the US 67 years and never been "on edge". Key is not watching crap "news" 16 hours a days and believing all the crap you see on social media.

In fact I bring that up in this video and many others that I make. Glad to hear that you are doing great in the good old US of A. Thanks again for sharing with us your wonderful thoughts.

    I do wonder why people even bother paying taxes to support the cops in Mexico though Jose, I read a story recently where there was a murder in Mexico recently and the cops did nothing and so essentially a lynchmob had to be formed to go after this person and take them out.
    Moral of the story is that we all love the more relaxed attitude of the cops in Mexico but when they are this lazy that people have to take matters into their own hands that's very chaotic and NOT peaceful.

    • @ChrisD-wv5zi
      @ChrisD-wv5zi 6 місяців тому

      So you're painting every single cop in Mexico with the same brush? That's like saying "I read a story and I heard that all cops in the USA kill black guys in the street by putting their knee on their neck and suffocating them." Come on, man.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  6 місяців тому +1

      Again as I mentioned earlier people in Mexico take responsibility in resolving their own problems since there is no system out here that the people can rely on. That is a major difference between the USA and Mexico. Since people do not rely on other entities to fix things for them they have to do it themselves. Again Mexico is not for everyone, but if you truly value freedom from an oppressive Government then Mexico is a great place to be.

    • @Sheilawisz
      @Sheilawisz 6 місяців тому +2

      Lynchings sometimes happen in rural Mexico, it’s not common at all and almost impossible in a big city. Also some states are more savage than others. Most of Mexico is safer than many people think.

    • @NeonAnimeDreams
      @NeonAnimeDreams 6 місяців тому

      @JoseArteagaTravels Sure, but as I stated, people are still paying taxes to police who essentially do nothing.
      The ideal would be cops that don't sweat the small stuff but take action against things like murder.
      But hey, if you can find peace in that chaos more power to you.

    • @hoppeanofasgard1365
      @hoppeanofasgard1365 6 місяців тому

      I think you just need to look at what produces the most freedom in reality. We can theorize all day long about hypothetical libertarian societies, but when it gets right down to it what really produces the most liberty is the people them selves taking responsibility for a whole host of things, responsibility and freedom are intertwined, you can't have one without the other. Even in the USA this was the case, think about the 1800s, think about what would happen if you wronged someone's family in a grave way, stole from someone, cattle tipped that resulted in the death of livestock that was the livelihood of a rancher ect. In most cases this resulted in a dual out on the street and you were probably not walking away alive, and guess what? the sheriff in those towns 9 times out of 10 didn't care, they'd be like nope, you caused this mess, that's on you to resolve it, and that's just how it was, but these were far freer times.
      So freedom isn't always pretty, and there's only so many ways you can arrange these chairs in what we call culture, and sometimes once we have those chairs arranged on the deck just the right way for freedom to be there it might have some unforeseen consequences, but that's just humanity, you can't pick and choose and make hypotheticals into reality, we have to go with that arrangement that best suits us.
      question is which arrangement best suits you.

      @JoseArteagaTravels  6 місяців тому +1

      It all depends on who you ask. Some people think it is extreme others find it just right. How else are you supposed to go to the beach in the middle of winter if it is not seasonably hot all year round. If you are interested in a more detailed answer you can watch this video I made going more in depth about the weather out here in Merida ua-cam.com/users/live0n7VT18h86E?feature=share

      Central Mexico like Puebla City is very temperate... evenings cool off and day time heat rarely gets much above 80 degrees F. Mexico is NOT only for beach towns... there are so many lovely places in Central Mexico.

    Moving to Merida changed my life immensely but also improved our family's dynamic. I couldn't imagine raising our daughter anywhere else. It will benefit her for the rest of her life to live in a place with very little stress.

    What are some nice cities in Yucatan that are on/close to the beach? I want to visit some different areas to find a good place to move to.

      Only real city in the Yucatan is Merida, all other areas are more like small towns. If you are looking for the biggest town on the Yucatecan Coast then Progreso is the only place at the moment.

    That's a good observation you made about US society conditioning you to not think for your self Jose. Why do you think that's the case and why does Mexican society teach you to be a self actualized individual?

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  6 місяців тому +1

      Great question with a long answer which I usually go more in depth in my other videos and livestreams. But long story short it is just the fact people in Mexico depend less on the Government and more on themselves.

    • @hoppeanofasgard1365
      @hoppeanofasgard1365 6 місяців тому +1

      @@JoseArteagaTravels Yea, I heard you talk about that before, so it's a type of thing where the more you depend on your self and your own abilities the more self actualized you become just naturally, and since Mexican society doesn't teach you to conform there's just more room for individual growth.
      Does that sound about right?

    Viva Mexico! Great video and you speak many truths. I have spent a lot of time in Puerto Vallarta and have traveled throughout Mexico. It is a beautiful place with nice people. You are right about the cops in the US. I stopped driving I-70 from CO to NV because of police harassment in UT. I am a woman driving alone and some criminal K-9 cops in UT stopped me for tinted windows. The cop wanted me to get into his K-9 vehicle. Told him my family was in law enforcement and he backed off. There is generalized aggravation here. High taxes, corrupt g, an all around hassle. I am figuring out my exit strategy.

    Nice beach scenes. Hospitality and chronic weed use….yep. My buddy is a chef and he’s 53. He’s been a chronic weed smoker since maybe 16 years old. Of course he drinks a six pack, some wine, maybe a couple scotches to wash the weed down. With him there’s an element of machismo to it…you know “don’t try this at home kids!”

My husband is from Germany and we really do love Europe but it is further from our kids and my mom. I can’t wait to see Merida and the rest of that part of Mexico it just looks amazing.

    To be honest, though there are problems all over the world. Increased costs homelessness, division among people. Two wars going on now. It’s really difficult for young people to find a way in the world all over. Mexico does seem like it has a lot to offer, but I think a lot of people are moving there now. However, there’s really no panacea.
