I went from the X100 to the 120X and loved the feel, but I fell even further in love with the Axiom 125X
Would it make sense to back down the stiffness of the 125 and give that a try? Maybe find a happy middle ground? I'm assuming you were hitting extra stiff of both.
What is your 7 iron swing speed? Was it modus 115x? Is that butt/tip stiff with a softer mid?
Thoughts on the X100 in terms of feel versus the Modus 125X?
What differences do you see between Modus 115 and DG 120? Then also the Modus 125 vs the original DG?
Also, for you, couldn’t you soft step the Modus 125 X flex one time?
Thanks!
Modus 115 to me felt softer throughout vs. DG 120.

The Modus 125 felt much stiffer throughout Vs. X100 due to Nippon heat treatment + thicker walls, but has a higher balance point which for me doesn’t allow as much feel over the club head throughout my swing.

I tried soft-stepping the 125 and did like the feel, especially on partial shots, but the balance point still remained too high for my liking.
Try the C Taper 125 S+. It’s the tour spec. It’s Rickie’s gamer shaft for a long time.
Two comments: modern tour players aren’t hitting draws with their driver as their primary shape so you’re on the right track with your assumptions there (Google Adam Scott’s quote on modern players bombing fades).. also interesting point about ramping adrenaline in practice to account for tournaments, I’ve read a Tiger quote that his stock swing was 80% and have seen many tournaments where players are clubbing down to account for adrenaline.. Food for thought
How do Nelly and Rory do it? Must be a miracle.
