- Why is there chocolate in the gearbox of this 1986 Range Rover?! Should the transmission fluid really look like chocolate sauce? One thing's for sure though, it needs a good clean! 😂

Workshop Diaries - From Season 1 Episode 19 "Why Is There Chocolate Sauce In The Range Rover Gearbox?": The day has finally come, our 1986 Range Rover is finally going to get clean. But will it make a difference, will we be able to tell at all with all that rust and peeling paint? Will the car still be carbon neutral if we wash off all the vegetation? Will it fall apart if we remove all the cobwebs? Will it simply dissolve when the water hits it?
Well, we're about to find out. Surely, now it runs and it's clean, it will be ready for its MoT test. Or will we find something else that needs to be fixed first?... I get the feeling, from a few previous videos and some of the strange dubbing at the end.. that Edd is not the person putting out these recent videos. I guess he is really busy at the moment with other things? and has outsourced this to someone..

@@MX-Drew so if you unsubscribe, would that be the end of your interest in Ed's content, or would you watch a new episode if you noticed it a month after you unsubscribed? If so then unsubscribing only makes it more likely that you will miss the content that you actually want.

Adopted U.S. programming standards. Keep regurgitating ancient, nearly forgotten episodes. Hope he's ok.
To elaborate on this overtly in case it's intentional by someone in the production - when I follow UA-cam creators I like, (like Edd China!) I set myself to be notified so I can be sure to watch every video. When superfluous videos or notifications are inserted, it makes me less likely to watch, and more likely to turn off notifications on that channel. 10 out of 10 times I would rather a creator wait to upload, than repost old stuff. If this is an algorithm play it risks alienating the core fan base and that is a questionable decision long term.

As per everyone else's comments, please don't post repeats just let us know what's going on. There's a lot of love for you out here and we'd rather have nothing than repeats.
Edd, we've all supported you and 1m subscribers looked very possible so please don't insult our loyalty and intelligence by pushing out material that is clearly re-used and more disappointingly out of context for us followers expecting to know how the chassis work is progressing. You will find honesty and humility about what's causing the problem will maintain our support but taking the approach of "this will do for them" will not.

True, its so frustrating. I remember watching Wheeler dealers on exam nights and then going sleepless to give my exams. It is sad that the videos have no chronology. AskEdd series is not for me, and seems to be randomly uploaded or put in between of workshop videos. Titles usually don't depict which vehicles is worked upon, and there are no vehicles wise proper playlist.

I had high hopes for this channel. Soon as it started, I hit the bell, and started Patreon aswell. Pretty soon I cancelled the patron and now getting repeats. Sad really.

Yep. Going to lose his base if he keeps this up. I really don't understand. He had a good thing going and then just stopped. I do understand production, etc but why not add a JOIN button so we can contribute? Why not make a video and actually explain to your fanbase what is going on? All this sort of thing does is change my perspective and vision of who Edd is and what he is about. Simple 20-30 minute videos without all the flash and editing of just working in that garage are great. Just go with it.

Over a month ago, I posted a respectful comment on your banana cocktail reupload to suggest that you might want to keep your many subscribers on-board by letting them know the reasons for the lack of fresh content. I felt that, without any communication explaining why this was the case, your loyal audience would become disillusioned and fall away or unsubscribe; sadly, from the comments that I read below this latest reupload, this is happening. I can’t fathom this out. Knowing that there’s been no new content this year, surely you, or one of the other workshop crew, must have read all the comments expressing collective disappointment? And if that is the case, then to still not provide any answers as to why this situation prevails strikes me as disrespectful of your audience. Once the audience falls away, so will the sponsors, and then it’s game over.

Exactly. Seems like they treat UA-cam the old TV kind of way. That doesn’t work since people watch UA-cam because it’s not like traditional TV. And when the direct connection between the channel and the audience is lost, everything goes with it. Maybe Edd is doing some TV show and has no time and that’s why they do this.

A head's up as to what's been going on, would of been nice Edd instead of just chucking out old repeats. I've been a life long fan ever since WD started and will always be one, and I know you may have some off screen issues and other obligations to contend with, but as I say a head's up will go along way to keeping your fans in respect for you.

I think there are funding issues. The most recent ‘proper’ episode, the Polar Bear one, there were significantly less sponsors than before, most notably Ansell who make Edd’s famous gloves. Reposting previous popular videos is probably a way of getting a bit of income.
Quite possibly but if Ed actually uploaded regular, did good honest mechanics without the expensive equipment that is diyers can’t afford this channel could be come big then wouldn’t need a load of sponsors.

I thought I was going mad. There must be something serious going on for there to be just dead air (so to speak) on the channel. Now everyone is worried. To be honest, I didn't care too much about setting fire to deserts or banana things so I didn't watch them, actually I just skipped through in case I missed something relevant about the Range Rover. Then there was the Q&A to make things even more confusing. Anyway, whatever has happened, I sincerely hope for the best for you and your troupe.

As others have said and are saying, there is obviously something badly wrong with this channel, we all sincerely hope it is nothing to do with Edd personally or in his personal life. Edd, I have met and talked to you on occasions at car shows, and always thought that you were one of the best guys in the industry, always having time for your fans. You give out the vibe that you read all the comments, if so, now is the time for a quick post just to let us all know what is going on. The problem is, we are all spoilt for choice now on UA-cam as regards car and restoration content. There are fantastic channels such as M539 Restorations to name but one that set the bar very high now. Subscription is free, so I see no real mileage in the "I'm unsubscribing, so there", reaction, but as others have commented, I am pretty glad I'm not a Patreon. Please Edd, either sort things out or give us all something to work with other than old videos. Best regards, Bob.

This vehicle needs to be a one act movie star in some low budget B-movie. You know, where the gorgeous silver 66 E-Type Jag magically turns into a scaggly rusty Land Rover for a half second as it goes over the edge of the quarry and mysteriously explodes into a fireball as it falls eleven stories into the quarry floor. Just a friendly suggestion. Quit while you are ahead.

Edd, now you've learn't to use a broom handle to remove hex bolts, don't suppose you could do a video on attacking snapped, rounded and seized bolts. Also, tips on what sort of replacement bolts to use when OEM bolts are so difficult to seek. Would be helpful for the weekend mechanic to hear, especially when my car seems to round most things off these days.
