I am very happy that you took the time to show everyone where the camshaft position sensor is located. There are many videos that talk about this sensor but no one bothered to show its location. Good job!
Hey Peter, How are you mate? buddy I would like to ask your opinion in a situation my Toyota Prado 5VZ-FE 1998(australia) is experimenting..... From not long ago, to start the engine in the mornings, takes me 2 attemps (cranking attemp), what I discovered was, once I pass the key on the ignition, to just before cranking position, the fuel pump is not priming, but once I crank the engine few seconds I am able to listen the pump working for fwe seconds (maybe the crank or camshaft sensor are working partially), then once the fuel lines gets some pressure on, the second attemp to start the engine is satisfactory and the Landcruiser Prado runs fine..... I had check all fuse, relays involve that factory manual T100 (which is the one I got) says, and nothing wrong.... I Checked if the EFI relay under the hood and is receiving signal from the key ignition from inside the cabin... I did check the COR operncircuit relays and looks fine too... checked the diagram schemactic and looks like the computer send some info to the open circuit relay, but dont know from where sensor, Im guessing from MAF sensor or something like that which could not working 100% ok.... I checked the MAF sensor and is on spec 2.3Ohh at 20C centigrades of temperature.... My Prado brough 2 fuel pump with 2 fuel tank from factory wich operates from a changeover swicht, that system work fine too. The problem happen in both pump. Well mate sorry for the long story but I am really scraching my head finding who is the responsable, any imput from you I do really appreciated it bro! If you want reply me by email is fine too: jesromer@hotmail.com cheers Peter!....
Hi Peter. I have the same error code P0340 on my 1997 Corolla. I have noticed in older videos you had a similar car or engine 4A-FE and those videos have been really helpful in removing and cleaning the throttle body and intake manifold, so firstly thank you for that. From everything I researched online, this engine camshaft position sensor is built into the distributor itself. Is there a way I can replace or even check the sensor in the distributor without having to replace the entire distributor for the error code? The car starts and runs normal, no hesitation misfire or anything else noticeable except the error code appears. Resetting the code results in it instantly coming back on. Thank you in advance for any assistance. I enjoy your videos, thanks again for making them.
Hi Peter, I have been watching your videos and can see you're busy. Did you get a chance to look into the sensor being built into the distributor and if it could be repaired or replaced without changing the distributor? Tx again.
Hey there, I've currently got a problem with my celica (same engine as the video). Misfire randomly until I get out and move the sensor cable. When I looked at the cables at least one was bare wire at the plug (probably shorts causing misfire). How would I be able to repair without replacing the entire harness? Thank you
i have a toyota lucida aeras. car wont start. feul line from tank to engine cleaned. will start occasionally. idle run very when running. mechanic says faulty temp sensor sending signal to feul regulator. can anyone help.
Hi Peter am Auto mechanic l have same code on a customer car it's nissan 2.0 engine, and after I did overhauling and fixing everything put in the engine oil, it could start even number 1 cylinder ignition do not come on the coil please help me out thanks
Hi, Did you noted, that there are two sensors? And please check also these: Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted, Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection, Faulty starter motor, Starting system circuit Dead (Weak) battery
battery is good starter is good cam/crank sensors brand new.good ground. drove the car parked it walked away came back won't start? starter turns it over

Hi, I have to investigate and test this issue.
Peter Finn Thank you Peter, any advice and info you find out will be greatly appreciated.

Can this also cause error code p1349? (VVTI malfunction bank 1) I already change the OCV figured this would be the cheapest next step. Oil is clean.
Yazlyn Acevedo did you clean the vvti solenoid filter? It’s located inside a bolt under the vvti solenoid
Hi, what is this engine code? Looks exactly like a ZNE10, which I'm troubleshooting P0340 too.
i had this error. replaced the camshaft sensor. Took car to car wash and the code came back.
Noted 👍

Hi I have the same issue as you with my celica. You manage to sort it ? Thanks
