    Instead of baiting 2 rods against each other, use 1 rod but with a double hook rig. This way the fish will show you the effectiveness of the product being tried/tested at a more specific and individual way altogether.
    Great vid btw, and thanks for sharing mate

    By using a whole gulp worm making it look like there is a worm in the water and not a little chunk of colored plastic would make a difference I believe.

    Gulp worms are NOT meant to just hang there, they are treated as slow retrieval bait lures. they are made to entice a bite, when bitten, the flavor is suppose to make them taste good and texture feel like real bait. hope this helps you understand.

    60 year fisherman here and I've used every type of line out there from braids to flurocarbons to monos ! I love the softness and strength of braid and I tie a 2 foot leader of fluro because it disappears in the water and it's stiffness helps with line abrasion !

    I've been using blood worms for a long time! They seem to always produce fish even when nothing is biting! But I've never used a whole blood warm at one time! I usually cut off a good piece when baiting! It's never let me down and it does make my blood worms last me a full day of fishing!

    How about a Texas Rig with the gulp worm? And then Jerk it in on the return, so it gets some action instead of just laying there. I think the live worm moving is what's getting hit. So the test is not quite Fair. Yep, I go with it. Love the video. Love the channel. Love you two. I'm hooked. Keep up your great informative entertainment.

      Jerry Adams totally agree gulp is a lure, not bait. Its an imitation of something you need to move it around to sell it to the fish. Not a fair comparison.

    • @surfcaster
      @surfcaster 6 років тому +5

      The real bloodworm does not move and will work mainly because of its scent. It is cut up into pieces. 3-5 inch at a time. It's pretty much dead. The gulp does not have the real bloodworm scent, it's why it doesn't work. If the gulp is soaked really well in The blood from the bloodworm, it works like a charm.

    I tried most of these gulp baits a few years back.. They are pretty useless when used static, but can be really excellent if fished in an active way and twitched back across the sea bed.. I guess they just market them wrong, it should say that on the packet. Great video as always guys. Cheers :)

    I think the gulps are meant to be jigged and moved, not just sitting still on the bottom. Also, I wonder what would happen if you put a little section of bloodworm along with the gulp just to give it some scent, and then let it sit. If it worked, that would stretch the bloodworm supply out considerably. Thanks for the great video!

    I Use braid with about 8’ of monofilament leader on my spinning reels because braid doesn’t have the line memory that mono does which prevents bird nests and line twist.
    Pro tip: spool the first half of the spool with mono backing to save money on the more expensive braid

    I say, "Add 2 hooks to your line and switch bait position, live on top hook first, then vise versa and see who gets hit more and at what position." At the end, you want to save money? Go with the gulp, they were at half price!😉

    Braid is great when you are not in a crowd. A crowd with newbies will cause so many tangles and you end up cutting half your line off in a day. That said, we do use them for steelhead fishing bobber and jig. The line (mostly) floats and you can 'mend' it. But that is about all we use it for because once tangled on the bottom, it is YEARS before the water erodes it to the point it breaks away. Some of us carry extension poles so when you pull the broken end from the water with your lure, you can get a hold on it before it falls free and drifts on back into the hole you are fishing. Then you get one more chance to break it off at the snag. Nice vid.

    Braid and mono are both excellent, and the trick is knowing when to use one, and when to use the other. Each will do things the other will not. You shouldn't leave fluorocarbon out of the discussion, either. It has advantages, as well.
    As for the cost of braid, most anglers change their braid, and their mono, and their fluorocarbon, far too often. Of course, it's silly to use a full spool of braid when you are almost never going to use more than forty yards of line, and will seldom use more than thirty. I've gone day, and days without using more than fifteen to twenty yards of line. Save some money and spool halfway with cheap mono, and then to where you want it with braid.
    And just because you change braid doesn't mean you should discard the old braid. Ninety percent of it, maybe all of it, is as good as the day you bought. Run it onto an old spool and save it for an emergency, or give it away. Braid, other than the first few feet that gets scraped and nicked, can last for years. I've seen very heavily fished braid last six years.
    The waste of money is buying blood worms. They're the silliest waste of money I've ever seen. Yes, they work, but other, far, far cheaper baits work just as well, or better. I've seen studies that show most people don't buy blood worms because of how well they work, but because of how much they cost. They think any bait that costs that much must be made of magic powder, and sprinkled with fairy dust, even though the record shows their just average as bait.
    Anyway, braid is no stronger than mono of the same test, and breaks even easier because it has no stretch to absorb the shock. The advantage of braid is that the same pound test is much thinner, so you can use much higer poud test for the same diameter.
    I never use braid for ultralight fishing because the line is too thin. I can barely see four pound test braid unless it's against a high contrast background. Yellow braid helps, but not nearly enough when it's that thin. I could use thicker braid, but that takes away the challenge of ultralight fishing.
    Anyway, braid, mono, or fluorocarbon, or even Dacron, each has its uses, so don't stick blindly to just one. I even use #9 tarred bankline and #36 tarred bankline for some types of fishing. Whatever is best for the type of fishing I'm doing that day.

    I mostly use the mono fishing lines. Generally because I fish in both cold and warm weather (I live in Northern Sweden) and the braided lines suck water into them and in the cold the line freezes and makes it really hard to use. I also prefer the "feeling" of the mono lines and I think they are easier to handle or "re-tackle" when you're out fishing.

      As far as I know super slick is just regular power pro with a nylon coating. Same as the suffix

    i am from the west coast, do a lot of delta striped bass fishing... blood worms are the go to choice for shore fishing. tried a lot of other baits and nothing gets the striped bass biting better than blood worms. bait are expensive! its about $22 here for a dozen. tried gulp, but the results are horrible. lol. i rig my blood worm from the tail down the line using a palomar knot. it has landed me some big striped bass! those worms also stick on if little size bass tries to eat it. you can still set the hook and have your bait in good shape with that setup . another way is to add blood worms and nightcrawler combo to save. why i like that rig style is because 1. stays on the hook, 2.larger profile for huge bass, 3.creates more scent,4.have more time to set the hook. That way, youll save your worm from little shakers prying that bait off the hook and line. youll see that rod dnacing when that trophy size fish hits!

    When i use blood or sand worms at the beach, they don't stay on the hook. 10 minutes later when i rail in no worm. Not sure if crabs are eating the bait or the current takes the worms off the hook. I've also tried putting salted squid from hey skipper at the end of the hook to keep the worm on, doesn't work. Any ideas???

  • @reelyrealfishing2397
    @reelyrealfishing2397 5 років тому +2

    I've used the gulp worms and had plenty of success. I think your issue is the method and location you are fishing. The fake worms work great for jigging and jumping across the bottom to get reaction bites in fresh water for trout, bass and sun fish (texas rig works great). Use the fake worms for live bait n' wait fishing scenarios and expect to fail, they don't move, smell or taste like real worms. Any fish with the time to inspect the bait will not pick it up. Not nice to say a product isn't worth the money when the issue is you aren't utilizing it properly..

      i saw on a different vid,for ur big conventional reels ,u need a shockleader of mono,i see u break off alot because braid got no stretch,the stretch give abration ressistance and extra power,especially when u go for bull reds,they are up to 40 plus inches in Texas(galveston),thats like 30 to 45 pounds,just saying.

    I am old, are used to always use braid that’s all there was. Then I use mono, I tried to find braid and couldn’t. I was told it was no good you can’t use braid it’s terrible, you have to use mono it is the best. Now, it is turned around. I always thought braid was better than mono. I always like how it behaves and how it’s sent the signals to you.

    Try slipping your live bloodworm straight up the hook and onto the line, and adding gulp worm on the hook? IDK. In California, when the fishing is tough, I use pile worm and blood worm mix. Pile worm is softer, so fish tear them apart easier. So I slip pile worm up the line and add blood worm to cover the hook.
