Nice video. Owning the mini for 30 years; you really get to know it. Such love and dedication. My mode of transport is a classic mini. I might be the only person in the entire world that is driving an old English car as their only vehicle. That means no spouses car, no GFs or BFs, etc. I've been doing this for the last 8 years. I live in the USA where parts are non existent. Crazy I know.
In the '70's, I bought an Innocenti Mini Cooper 1300, Bluette with a Bianco Avorio roof, a lovely colour combination. My previous car was a beautiful, but very thirsty... Jensen Interceptor Mk2! I kept the Mini for 20 years, it was my daily runabout in traffic congested Athens. I also drove all over Greece with it, it was such fun! I admit I had fallen in love with it. So had my Cocker Spaniel, he loved the rides in it, with the matching white fabric Webasto roof open! With traffic conditions worsening more and more, it had to go in favour of a modern car. I am so glad the subsequent owner kept it in equally great, if not even better, shape and I am glad to see it from time to time in the press in historic car events! Yes, at the time, it was the ideal city car. Testament to this, is the 20 year long period it was my daily car.
Mega car, i have had several. Currently about to paint my daughters one (she bought it when she was 15) she is now learning to drive and can't wait to drive it.
@@MyModdedMini nope :).. half the fun is learning.. My daughter is already not fussed about the finish as its her car, and its something she is building with me, which she thinks is more important.. so.... we shall give it a go :)
I can tell you one thing, having an afr gauge is very handy for trying to self tune. Well worth the investment, I personally wouldnt buy a second hand one if it doesnt come with a sensor. Due to the sensor being 150 to 200 bucks 😅. So dont be like me and buy one second hand and then realise you have to spend the equivalent to a new kit.
It sounded like you were speaking from experience haha, thanks for the tip. I was looking at the Spartan 3 lite. It gives a 0-5v output which is what i need for it to talk to my digital dash and you can get it with the Bosch sensor or an ADV one which they say is better again.
@@MyModdedMini I mean either or sensor will work, if you're gonna get a bosch 4.9 lsu then T.I performance is the cheapest for literally the same thing from other companies, paid around 150 or maybe a bit less.
With the need for ear plugs wouldn't it be a good idea to put in some sound deadening? Quiet things down a bit! You have a heater in the car, so why not install air conditioning too? I can only imagine how much insurance would be for something so custom done up like this as a daily
Yeah I have it covered in sound deadening, which is good but it's not magic. You still only have a piece of steel, sound deadening, and a piece of fabric. And probably not too much acoustic engineering in the build haha. I have seen people put AC in but I didn't want to sap the power or add the complexity. Cheers.

Love it, such a fun car to drive. Even when things go wrong, once you are back in and driving it's worth it 😁

That is a great story, thanks for sharing, love it :) People forget that these were the cars people drove every day for a long time.

Thanks for that. Are you a spray painter? It was prob the most intimidating part I did (not being a spray painter). I just watched lots of UA-cam 😅

Great Machine, I got my driving license in one Love it, Cheers
Good to hear John :)
Where did you buy the digital dash or was a DIY? Great video by the way
Digital dash is by Powertune Digital. It is essentially a Raspberry Pi, touchscreen, with custom software installed.
@ ahh okay as was just thinking installing my iPad and Bluetooth away
