The voice actor for Cosmo in Brazil really makes a biiiiiig difference for our experience with the franchise, I noticed when you commented the original VA seemed tired of playing the character and it kinda derailed. The Brazilian VA never really had this problem cause he varied a lot to play Cosmo, he did a very Robin Williams-esque performance, dude has an insane range and he definitely never got tired of the character, you really can't get enough of the character with him. So in the end, when you're Brazilian, at some point you realize you don't like Fairly Oddparents anymore. You just like Guilherme Briggs LMAO

I was 37 hours and 17 minutes into the Beverly Hillbillies review…I was only taking a break, I didn’t know…I didn’t know…I’ve failed Russ…I’ve FAILED HIM
1:27:53 This pokes a pretty big hole in the fairy world agenda tbh. I always thought that the reason Remy got fairies and Chester didn’t is because, even though he was extremely poor, his dad still loved him. Fairies provide both material convenience and parenting. But they are only given to kids who lack the latter, not the former. Which leaves this really huge gaping hole in the system. And it seems like a recipe for disaster if you give godlike powers to only the most neglected, socially stunted, and unstable children. Correct me if I’m wrong but I remember an episode where Chester gets a genie and uses him for extremely charitable and noble purposes (which the genie either gets annoyed at or impressed by I forget) like making his dad’s life easier or curing his social anxiety. Maybe this is because Chester knew he only had 3 wishes and wanted to use them to do as much good as possible but why wouldn’t the fairies want to operate on a system where they find good children in bad material situations to give them more of a capability to do good things. A neglected child needs caring parents, yes, but do they really need the powers of a god? Also, I know the scope of the show is pretty limited, but we basically never see fairies given to kids who aren’t a middle to upper class except for Crocker of all people
Considering that Timmy's dangerous wishes are almost always undone with ease once he learns his lesson, I like to think fairy godparents actually grant wishes to provide the emotional teaching that the kids don't get from their birth parents.
With Poof's addition, we do learn that the parental guidance aspect is probably the really important thing to the Fairies. They can kill two birds with one stone by inserting themselves into the lives of these kids. But of course we do also have examples of giving Fairies to just any miserable kid *can* be a bad thing... The Hall of Infamy in Cosmo & Wanda's house revealed how unbelievably horrible some kids can be. Making French people rude to Americans. Twisters to destroy trailer parks. And then there's Maryann... After stealing Cosmo and Wanda's wands, she was involved in the assassination of Archduke Fedinand and kickstarted World War 1... which you know... led to even more horrific things.
@@chaos4654 Holy fucking shit I forgot about Maryan. It’s wild to me that they introduce a WW1 joke to a kids show and it flew completely over my head as a kid
I could be wrong, but when I was a kid I always thought the implication with Remy was that he wasn't born rich, he just wished to be rich so that he could live out his fantasies of being upper class and desirable, but it was like 15 years ago so it could have just been something I made up as a kid.

Im looking forward to *the distant 2020s* and the future of this channel!!
I just had the weirdest revelation... Hearing Quinton constantly refer to Cosmo and Wanda as "fairlies" made me think about the title of the series, and how it's a pun, then I started thinking about the Danish localized title (I'm Danish, this wasn't entirely random) where the title is "De Fantastiske Fehoveder" which roughly translates to "The Fantastic Fairy Heads" and I was like, it's such an odd translation, there's not even a pun... Then it dawned on me, it IS a pun. It's a pun on "Fæhoveder", "fæ" meaning "fool", and fæhoved just being a different way of calling someone a fool. It has taken me 20 years to realize this, I feel like an actual brainlet right now.
So I checked the Wikipedia page out of curiosity, and I noticed that the German translators went with "Cosmo & Wanda: Wenn Elfen Helfen" Fairy and Elfs aren't exactly the same thing, but the alliteration with help and Elf is nice. Was it better to throw away accuracy to force a joke? Idk, but it's kinda neat
I am also Danish and the funny thing is that I'm fairly certain that I knew this when I was a kid, because as soon as I read the Danish title, it clicked in my head immediately, lol I forgot as an adult, which feels like a strange metaphor for this entire show
Why is Poof still a literal infant if it's been 10 years? I know fairies live a very long time but this baby has not aged a day over a whole decade. Also I need that pink fedora adjacent hat
Yeah. Thankfully I know there’s been fan art of Poof while he’s still a round circle. He has a full head of hair. And a different outfit. And he’s older.
Well, I don't remember the lore very well but I think it is because fairies aren't born? They had to try very hard to get the poof, and I think that's why he won't ever grow up, because he's not supposed, to, like, exist anyway.
If I recall correctly, Cosmo and Wanda have been married for over 10,000 years and are considered a young couple, so 10 years probably isn't much to fairies. Like a year might span from being worth less than a day to probably a week or two in the most generous scenarios.
I think it would be funny if Timmy got fed up with having to wait to actually watch his baby brother grow up, especially if the ticking clock element was still in place, so he wished Poof’s development was that of a human’s or even faster. It would characterize both Timmy and Poof at the same time because now Poof gets the chance to actually develop beyond the bland baby shtick.

"Why would they give fairies to Remy, who's super rich and can buy whatever he wished for?" I could be wrong, but when I was a kid I always thought the implication with Remy was that he wasn't born rich, he just wished to be rich so that he could live out his fantasies of being upper class and desirable, and maybe got caught up in feeling like someone important.
Nah, I'm pretty sure Remy specifically has a moment where he breaks down about how miserable he is because his rich parents don't love or pay attention to him, they only love their money. He got his fairy precisely BECAUSE his parents are rich.

In Spanish the show it's just called "Magic Godparents" 😂
So I checked the Wikipedia page out of curiosity, and I noticed that the German translators went with "Cosmo & Wanda: Wenn Elfen Helfen"
Fairy and Elfs aren't exactly the same thing, but the alliteration with help and Elf is nice.
Was it better to throw away accuracy to force a joke? Idk, but it's kinda neat
I am also Danish and the funny thing is that I'm fairly certain that I knew this when I was a kid, because as soon as I read the Danish title, it clicked in my head immediately, lol
I forgot as an adult, which feels like a strange metaphor for this entire show
