That looks l8.ike some awesome fun. I think of all the times 8.ive been outback hunting and never thought to catch carpet on fly. Thanks mate you have revealed a whole new world... mite also try a nedrig on em.
@@jackschiller8252 Well done, I went below Lock 1 in the end and launched from Swan Reach. Spent 5 hours throwing lures around for not a single touch. Water very murky and there was lots of fast boat traffic churning up the water. Lots of small debris in water as well. Heading up to Qualco/Ramco in Late Jan.
@@philbond9816 we had about 400mm of visability and there were 5 cod caught ranging from 100mm to 78cm caught by people around that area in the 4 days we were there
Good morning, So watched a couple of your videos and can say you’re already my favourite Australian fishing channel. All the others swear and carry on like yahoos, but your delightfully calm and have a clean mouth so makes it very enjoyable to watch. Keep up the great work. PS - I was thinking of getting 2 fly rods. Goal will be snub nosed gar, bass, carp, cod, yellowbelly, Saratoga. Do you think a 10wt as a lot recommend for the heavier fish and what weight for smaller waters and smaller fish? I was tempted to go 2wt but that would mainly be for the snub nosed gar, or should i go a 4 or even 6 for the light rod? Cheers for your opinion.
Hi there, Thanks for the comments and watching the channel, really appreciate it! I would personally go for an 8wt for the bass, carp, yellas and cod. it still has plenty of power but much nicer to use for extended periods. if where your drinking of using the lighter rod doesn't have too much wind usually then a 4wt would be a good choice!
Yea! I happen to live 10 mins from a carp on the fly spot! At first, I thought that 8wt was slight overkill, then I changed my mind when that whale took you into those sticks.
Nice dude! Shit i miss doing that in South Africa. Here in New Zealand the wild koi are like impossible on my usual tactics. Still need to figure them out
They are such awesome fun to catch hey! We fished for those big koi’s in the waipa last time we were in NZ, Casey got one to eat a squirmy worm but it pretty much spoiled her and busted off way downstream 😅
Hi Charlie, The best all-round for carp is an 8wt fly rod, reel and floating fly line. I use a straight piece of 10lb leader (no taper) about 1.5 metres long off the fly line to the fly. Unweighted woolly buggers are the best patterns, in black or white. Essential Fly Fisher in Tasmania has great ready to go setups and free postage in Australia!
Nice one Lubin, some great specimens there! Great fun when they're feeling aggressive!
Thanks for watching mate! I was pretty amazed how well they were eating the fly hey

A fun way to get rid of those pesty fish. Good on you Lube
Absolutely! Thanks for watching 😀
I may be wrong but I believe those are common carp which aren’t invasive. Asian or silver carp are

They are so much fun! Yep was a bit of finger burning with that big banger, spewing he did me in the timber!
You were really dialed in! What rod did you use? Brand and weight? Thanks.
Glad you like it! That was a Scott Sector 9ft 8wt, absolutely beautiful rod!

@@thefullscale-fishingadvent2917 hahaha yeah there are some proper yellow submarines around here 😅
What fly rod set up are you using? Keen to try this but don't know where to start in terms of outfit.
