the fact that someone clever can solve the puzzle in a fun and creative way; while at the same time someone braindead can just accidently brute force their way through it, is great game design. literally anyone can play and win, even DSP.

'creative way' the materials to make what she had made are just sitting there begging to be used, aint nothing creative about that, also the amount of time to just put the balls down there the way he did and creating a cart is pretty much the same, he just didnt realise the balls were not putting all their weight because they were bridged. This guy is the reason so many modern games hold your hand at every turn and they still fail it somehow.
Wasn’t it shown at a confrence that Sony used some of his gameplay of GoW: Ragnarok as a baseline for what the “average gamer” was like? Because that is proof that devs design games with people as dumb as him in mind

Yeah, it has come to my attention that too many people confuse "Intuitive and well designed" with "I literally want to know how something that I'm seeing for the first time ever is supposed to work, instantly, without spending a single second doing any mental effort".
@@webaazul2500It can be hard to design good puzzles, or notice good puzzle design, when puzzles can be so all over the place, even within the same game. Payday 2, for example, has some puzzles that are more or less "do X, Y, and Z in the correct order" and it's not too hard to figure out if you pay enough attention. But other puzzles seem to assume you have a calculator and a small file cabinets' worth of scrap paper with you while you play. Anyone that has ever attempted the Big Oil heist knows exactly what I'm talking about.
I remember me as a kid 11 yr playing Resident Evil from PS1 in japanese and Silent Hill in english solving all puzzles somehow without knowing how to speak/read english and japanese and finishing all of these games lol

People tend to misunderstand the popularity of Vtubers. There are tons that have failed and most who became super big did so with corporate backing. Even the first one, Kizuna Ai was a corporate project using a professional voice actress and not an indie streamer.

I would argue that having a dumb and boring easy solution isn't desirable.
If the puzzle was designed in such a way that just carrying them one by one wouldn't be a viable solution, then sure, some people won't be able to solve it.
However, there would also be far more people who would be pushed to figure out a solution, which would be far more rewarding then just brute forcing it which they otherwise would have done.
@@mkwpaul thats the thing about this kind of game though, a lot of the time there is no one solution. You can brute force it or cheese it if you want, or you can do it the intended way.

Basically, he fills the bathtub with a bunch of cups and each cup is filled with water. He then stares at the bathtub in confusion and ponders, "Golly, how the heck am I supposed to take a bath with all these darn cups in here!? I mean, I only need the water in the tub. I don't need the cups. But, then how would I have gotten the water into the tub?" He continues to stare at his bathtub for several minutes, unable to figure out how to remove the cups, but leave the water from the cups in the tub, so he can take a bath. Defeated, he walks away and gives up on taking a bath.
Legend has it that he is still stinky to this day.

Other people talk about "smarter" and "more creative" but to me the difference between them is actually that DSP was fuming at a literal children's puzzle while Ame was just chilling and enjoying the game.
Does...that guy know what puzzles are? If you put an uncompleted jigsaw puzzle in front of him but without the box (which would presumably have directions because people like that guy exist) would he then complain that "once again, I'm just magically supposed to know what I'm doing?"

DSP is the reason we now have the player character give hints every 3 seconds as soon as you even approach the vicinity of a puzzle

It's been too long since, but I remember trying to make the tractor, but I did something wrong with it, because a lot of the balls just flew out the sides, and I only pushed in like 3 at a time. So I just went the dsp method, but I wasn't exactly complaining about it.

I like the BotW/TotK puzzles because the materials are themselves hints, and you can safely assume the optimal solution is related to them. You can also assume that even if the brute force option is possible it’s usually not necessary. This one isn’t even particularly hard in my opinion, just the presence of that many balls should be clue enough that there must be a way to move lots of them at once.
Ame is both really smart and creative in general but this clip highlights DSP’s impatience to think things through and poor attitude more than her cleverness.

Quite literally 'dumb luck'
The point of a lot of the shrines aren't meant to be challenging they're supposed to demonstrate game mechanics so you can use them in actual gameplay. The puzzle isn't supposed to be hard, it's supposed to teach you how the build mechanic can be used to interact with the environment. Most of the shrines are just mini tutorials on how the various devices work.
I love how Philly Boy is completely oblivious of how this might look to anybody but his own eyes. He makes a fool of himself, then says "clip that, you sons of bitches".
The rest of the shrine before this is about using vehicles in interesting ways. The game was priming you to be thinking about vehicular solutions!
