I think it's pretty clear after his initial panic over things going wrong he came to his senses and realised such a monumental mistake can easily be identified and remedied. The rest of the video is him just riffing on the idea he's bankrupted himself over something so stupid for fun.

Not 100% sure, but if you marry while already in debt your partner doesn't inherit half of that debt. Same for money you already owned before the marriage. Usually for divorce settlements only the money that both earned DURING the marriage counts. For debt it will be the same thing. Like your partner would have to agree to the debt before the actual marriage or it is very unlikely they will get half of it.

Apparently not that easy, took about 8 hours for them to take the page down (most staff now on leave) and at least another 8 to rectify the issue and get the page back up

Not sure if you've ever run a business before but that's an EASY fix. A hard fix is something that takes days, weeks, and sometimes even longer. Fixing this in less than a day makes it an easy fix.

Also you are implying that a business taking 5 million orders fully paid for, is a bad thing. They'd happily take your money, you've almost got it in reverse lol. They would have way way waaaay more money in their bank than they have of the product so they'd have countless wealth and would simply refund products they cannot supply. This is how it's done. Also some people wouldn't even bother refunding if they don't get the item which occasionally happens they forget and move on

So the orders would require a bunch of suppliers (whom aren't prepared for such changes in volume) to be paid out, but the company itself would be paid by 0$ from the discount code maker whose credit is bouncing.

All these orders would be cancelled, it's literally just a code that was incorrectly set due to error and as per the terms of basically any site they would just cancel these orders. You are seriously implying a factory that supplies plushies is making them for free without being paid by the store owner (merchant) who also didn't get paid and the order DOES NOT EVER goto a factory to produce or to their warehouse to deliver already made stock unless the merchant approves. So you are welcome to goto say a site and order 10 million PLUSHIES with a free code and watch all 10 million get cancelled. Not only that, but stuff like this is usually done in batches where the merchant sends across approved orders to them be made at a certain time, which gives merchant time to cancel once more. They aren't just made 1 by 1 as soon as some buttons got on a website, hence why these plushie sale type things often take months sometimes over a year to be made and sent out, they do the whole batch in 1 go

MAYBE they could get a loan using the orders as collateral and build big enough facilities to ship the plushies but that would likely take years, which would probably make the orders elegible for refund, meaning they would never get the loans in the first place.
Another option would be to hire other companies to help with productoon, but that would only work of their profit margins are high enough to cover that cost, and even just the time and personnel cost of handling that many orders would probably crush such a small business.
At the risk of sounding anti-joke, makeship would surely notice something was weird and ask if vedal accidentally gave out a code or something.

It was on Christmas eve and the offices were closed so it took them a day to completely resolve the issue, but he managed to contact his representative and stop the code from working on stream

i am pretty sure that there is a system where they track the code and just cancel all of the order from that code.
The fact that it took Makeship a day to rectify the situation tells us it wasn't just a matter of querying the database and cancelling the orders using one particular discount code. Makeship probably realised there's an issue in either code generation or validation that needs to be fixed asap. Remember they have a big Hololive campaign going on right now.
It was on the Christmas weekend, nobody would be at the office and who wants to give more than the bare minimum to fix the problem?
The easy fix is to simply remove it from the website and deal with it later.

It did have an effect. The doll got taken off the website entirely yesterday. Today, it got reintroduced into the website and started from scratch collecting orders.
